We have two in our house. A great system in fact I can honestly say since I now have a series X that you are not missing out on much this generation. I believe it's the coolest console out there.

The expansion cards from Western Digital and Sea Gate are now $150 for 1tb. Sea Gates 2tb is $279. Would you still go with an SSD?

Hi' i bought the exact same one formatted it etc downloaded some games to it went back the next day and now my series s dont recognise it all like nothing comes up like its not even plugged in any help would be appreciated by anyone. Thanks.

Funny about the 1TB Seagate is that it's not enough space. My nephew has like 10 games on the Series and only plays two of them. I have a 2TB but that's for my other Series S. I have a 5TB external for older games though it would be a pain moving them back and forth.

Make sure to choose performance mode and not graphics mode! You wont have ray tracing (on games where this option exists), but will get your 50+ frames 😁

I made the mistake of getting the 512gb expansion card for my Series X but now im kinda just stuck with that because there’s only one expansion slot

i have two memory cards, both are 512gb, and I just swap them depending on the game I wanna play and its lowkey easy just swapping them

The plus is that you can easily hot swap them if you have another. So no having to take anything off like the ps5, or even having to force a restart. Just get another one and plug + play as you go! The downside is that you need to buy another expensive expansion card.. 😭

So far the series s storage with a hhd wasn’t a problem for me , but with starfield and forza around the corner I can see the need for the storage option … or a 2nd hand series s xD

I’ll stick with my 1TB Samsung EVO870 SSD which was 80 bucks. I get 3 min transfers I’m good. Western Digital is whats internally inside the S.

Well technically the ps2 had a memory card to keep your saved games and online progress as well as the seagate or memory cards as I should say, yes the Xbox saves progress through the cloud but if you really think about it so does the segate cards as well hence the transfer back and fourth with the games, allowing you to transfer to another Xbox just like ps2

Wow, it’s taken Microsoft long enough to let different companies make memory cards. For there series x/s I have a 2 TB wd black ssd in my ps5 they are a very good ssd and I don’t know why it’s taken Microsoft to allow them to do one unless it was just they’ve come to the conclusion, they weren’t selling their overpriced ones £250 for a one TB was a joke

So there's multiple issues with what he's saying here 1st off there are multiple series X/S games that can be played off of external storage not just one or two. These games are listed as gen 9 aware titles. Also for the price your gonna pay for that 5TB Western digital black drive or a little more you could get a 2 or 4TB Sata III SSD and stick it in an enclosure and use it in the same way you use the WD drive but with drastically shorter transfer times and load times. Like seriously some load times like in fallout 4 basically non-existant on an SSD. So I really don't agree with his opinion that all you need is the 5TB Western Digital drive.
