Wrapped tests were a little skewed - Once the wrap was damaged, the other vanes are going to come off a lot easier.

Thank you so much for this video! This is the best glue I've ever used; easy to work with, can see it easily on the fletching, dries like a steel weld, definitely better than anything on the market (tried them all). Keep up the great work!

I have used Fletch Tite for over 30 years, and have never had one come off. I also never scrape them with sandpaper. Just a good cleaning with acetone and not alcohol. I did not go to the extent that you did, but I have taken mine and a pair of needle nose pliers, and could not get one to come off. Now that Blue stuff you used did pretty good also.

I used the bohning in tube once on my carbon arrows back in 2014. The nap quick spin fletchings dry rotted before the glue gave out. Just reflected my arrows tonight with blazer 2" used the g5 blue. Think the glue is going to either going to get used on anything else I can think of or dry out before I got to reflect again. Lol. Glad to see your test on how it held up

The clamping pliar you used applied leverage against the board throwning your "pulling poundage" off. Much like the claws of a hammer extracting a nail from a board. It multiplies the force. Pulling force should be appplied straight back.

The Loctite Super Glue, Ultra Liquid Control is really good. It has a lot lower viscocity than the gel so it flows better as you push the vane on. I fletch them and shoot them through multiple layers of cardboard to see how well they stay on. I like your test too! The more data the better.

The best fletching I've seen is a cap wrap and super glue gel. Never comes off and it only takes a few seconds to fletch an entire arrow. If you mess up a feather or vane you just unroll the cap wrap and start over. Just gotta be a little sparing with the super glue or you'll glue a vane to the jig.

Knives RUs nailed it the problem with a wrapped test is that the strength of the glue is not the only factor but the strength of the wrap is now a factor and once it has been torn it will more easily tear when you try the others. It is good to see though which glue sticks to the wraps. I will second all these finding as well. Used Goat glue for a while and it was good then something changed and it is as good as spit and went to G5 Blu-Glu, great stuff.

thank you Iceman, for doing this, just spent an hour looking for this same exact question on AT. I think my Bohning platinum went stale, my blazers literally flutter to the ground and I know it's not shaft prep, same as yours but use denatured alcohol instead. the Bohning worked great last year on my Easton X7's. but am giving VAP arrows a shot. maybe could you recommend a better blazer jig? like do a reviews-if you can. of that new blazer jig?. love the talk " I hate fletching--I don't want to do it more then once" anyway thanks for taking the time to do this. Peace

Great video but my only concern I saw was with the wrapped shaft, they could have been tested 6 arrows with one glue one at a time. Once the wrap was damaged the integrity and strength of the wrap was compromised giving a false reading, I'm sure the wrapped shaft numbers are a bit higher

I know this is an old video, but there was no mention of curing time - which is 48 hours for Fletch-Tite. So I'm not sure the test accurately showed how well FT can work if allowed to cure properly. Not saying it's better, but it's a lot easier to use and I get good results with it.

I know this video is 6 years old but I came across your video on a post about fletching arrows and someone posted this video. If you don't like fletching arrows and want to do it once and be done then you need to stop using alcohol, acetone, or any other chemicals to clean your arrows when you use cyanoacrylate based glues (super glues). These chemicals greatly reduce the bond that these glues create. Use plane ole tap water to clean your arrow shafts when using these glues. When you use solvent based glues like Fletch Tite then you can and should use these chemicals.

I have not tried the nufletch but I avoid them because they add way too much wait the back of your arrow. (in their commercial, they claim a balanced arrow is better, but anyone who knows anything about arrow flight knows that a higher foc is better).

The way it is prepped makes a huge difference. I’ve used platinum fletchtite for 15 years. After I was shown how to prep the arrow and vane using DISTILLED alcohol I have not had 1 vane come off. I recently ran out of distilled and used 70% rubbing alcohol and they would not stay on. That said, super glue gel works on anything.

fletching tape..........have shot same arrows with fletching tape and have shot those arrows until the feather fell apart from the use.......a little dab of superglue on the top and bottom and I also often times wrap my arrows at the bottom of the fletching with string to clean up the looks and also helps secure/protect the feather from going into targets as deep. I tear up more fletching than lose them.....all feather fletching and still lasts 100's of shots without any problem. Hell if they didn't tear up every once in a while I would forget how much fun it is to fletch, crown, crest....make my arrows "pretty".

You absolutely were not going over the top with your arrow prep before fletching the arrow. Years ago I got some aluminum shafts wiped them off, fletched them and shortly after went on an elk hunt. on about the third day the rut was in full swing and the bulls started bugling. I had worked into a group of bulls that were bugling and really felt like I could get a shot. It had been clouding up and finally started to rain. I worked between two bulls that were going at it hot and heavy. The rain was quieting my sounds and the wind was in my face . One of the bulls headed toward the bull that had the cows and was going to cross in front of me at around 15 yrds. I looked down at my quiver to grab an arrow and to my supprise only one arrow had any fletch on it, the rain had taken the rest off. I nocked that arrow and did get that elk but am so lucky that one of the shafts had been clean enough that the fletch had secured to it. Ever since I always go over the top cleaning the shaft and base of the fletching and have never lost a fletch since...NUFF SAID...
