Oh my god, Klonoa really is like a Kingdom Hearts character before KH. That design is so Nomura. Just look at some of those intro cutscenes talking about dreams followed up by him falling headfirst into the water. That's it. We need a KH game that crosses over with Klonoa now.

Klonoa needs the attention and love. He hasn't gotten a game since the Wii remake of the first game (which is in this bundle). Let's not even talk about the canceled anime movie. This could lead to a posible Klonoa 3, or at least more Klonoa stuff.

Matt, I'm happy to see that you're doing your part to spread the word on Klonoa's big return by making and sharing this video with us all...heaven knows Klonoa needs all the attention he can get if we want to see him in more games and other media! Me...I was practically sold on the remakes from the nanosecond they were announced during the Nintendo Direct a few months back, and I dare say that this video is a great way to get a good idea of what I'll be enjoying when I download and play it on my Switch beginning tomorrow!

- Klonoa is a cat, not a rabbit. - The port here of the first game included here is based on the Wiimake, but they've redone the textures, made everything brighter and changed Klonoa's model (the Wiimake one was redesigned to have a taller, thinner model, presumably to be a bit more human-proportioned, and they've thankfully brought him back to his original proportions for this version) - Klonoa 2 had a demo on the demo disc that came with PS2s, which is where a lot of people may have first played it. I certainly did! - The hats you show off in the video (like the Pac-Man helmet) are actually DLC.

Klonoa is neither a cat nor a rabbit, his species is unnamed as far as I know, but I heard many refer to him simply as a Phantomilion. he is shaped like a friend, though. ^^

@@SerialK1986 I could have sworn he was meant to be a cat, so I went and checked, and you are indeed correct. "The series stars the titular character, Klonoa, who has features of a dog, cat, and rabbit but is not explicitly any particular animal." DEFINITELY shaped like a friend though.

Ever since the announcement of this remake, I followed it and the fanbase through out, and eventually I've become a fan of this series. And after watching this video, it really makes me want to buy the game to support this amazing series.

This is cool to see. I didn’t know about the series until a few years ago, and only played a bit of the first on PS3 digitally before this, but I remember Klonoa being in SoulCalibur V of all things as a charm or something in character creation and thinking he looked neat. Hopefully this does well, I know people have been really looking forward to it. Also glad to see some of the weird audio issues from the trailer don’t seem to be present. Idk why but the first game sounded really compressed there, but it seems alright here.

Bandai say he's closer to a cat but most think of him as a Cabbit, a cross between a cat and rabbit. Also a lot seem to get mixed up with his gender, though I think he's supposed to be androgynous. Might be mistaken on that last bit. ;p

Most of the tutorial text seems pointless and bad. "Gems are good and you should collect them" and "big gems are better than small gems". Just cutting down the flow of the game

Sad to be a downer here, cause I like Klonoa. But this version looks lifeless. Makes me think of the Secret Of Mana remake. Minimal effort on models and animation, just on the bottom tier of what's acceptable. Another revival attempt that will go nowhere because it wasn't given the the respect it deserves. Put it on the pile.

@@the-NightStar You can disagree, no problem with that but that "you have no idea what you're talking about" sounds as childish and gratuitous as it comes. It's like you invented something sensible in the first part, to soften the ridiculousness of the second. The graphics really are years behind standards. Some parts of the models aren't properly connected and act on their own (the ears are a jarring example), shaders are too soft for a cartoon look and don't undestand the original games' aesthetics , clipping is everywhere. Animations are floaty, and they lack inertia and weight. Characters look disconnected from the world. Once again, enjoy the game. I'm not trying to break your toys. Have fun. But 3d platformers are my favourite genre, Ive played a ton of them, and this is visually weak, and pretty amateurish.

@@flophouseplays hey Matt, love the video as always, but honestly the game is visually very disappointing. Doesn't mean it isn't good and fun, it might play great. But you can't tell me you didn't expect better from the visuals. And it's definitely gonna hurt the game and the franchise that it wasn't given the care it deserves, because first impressions are important, and you know it well.

@@JohnDoe-wq5eu I see your point, and yeah it could have been much worse. We've seen that too often in recent years. The sad thing is, it never sells well enough to revitalize a franchise. In part because it's often done as a cash grab and not as an honest attempt (Not saying it's the case here. This is obv. much better the GTA remasters at least) In part because some people don't want a remaster/remake as they are content replaying the old games. What they truly want is a sequel. And then the publisher says "you didn't buy the remake, you're not getting a sequel". And on the other hand, I can understand the publishers as it's always risky to "relaunch" a mostly forgotten franchise.

@@DanoLefourbe Glad you like the video. However, having high-end graphics It's literally the least important thing to me. I can't think of anyone that's super into platformers going, "They need to look bleeding edge." Could it look better? I guess? Almost any game could look better. But this runs at 60 fps and 4K which to me, is more than good enough. If it DIDN'T, then we'd have an issue, cuz that's a standard it should meet. At the end of the day, I'm just happy Klonoa is back and available to way more people. That's the most important thing by far.
