I'll run my first Ultra, a 75k, in October. That will be slightly over 2 years after Ive started running. 2 years ago I randomly saw a few KZfaq videos of Ultra runners, and this triggered something in my head. I started with a 5k plan and kept progressing both in speed and distance. Now Ive signed up for a great event, and can't wait to be at the starting line.

Awesome episode Floris. Brendan is the most inspiring guest you had, by not tryin to inspire…a good mix of insanity and determination. I never read a book about running, but this is definitely my first.

This is such a great video. It is probably my favorite of all your videos. Brendan's take on life and on the events he has done is everything that has drawn me to the ultra world. Thank you for sharing this conversation.

Loved the fact that Brendan preferred to self publish Ultra Something. I am sure it makes the book more interesting, enjoyable and weird in a good way. I will buy the book. Thank you Floris

I just started low heart rate training after coming across your vid. It took me 3 hours in total to get to 15km but i felt like i could do more without any injury etc. My goal’s to run a marathon either this year or the next and oh boy let me tell you, low heart rate jogs feel soooooo good!!

This is my favorite conversation so far. I'm definitely going to read ultra something and his other books. The two of you are absolutely hilarious together. Thanks for the advice, I'll try eating all my gels asap for my next race 😂

Love the concept that “if you see it you can be it”. Made me realize I need more ultra runners for buddies!

Thanks Floris - I really think you’re one of the best interviewers around because you create a lot of space for your guests to shine. A key takeaway for me was the tip to get creative and design your own adventure challenge in order to get more fulfilment from exercise 😊

"I hate exercise." Yep. I peak out at half marathon mountain races and finish last almost every time. But I'm a 300 lb man in my late 40s and fit and healthy for my size and age. So i found something i hate less than spin classes or has fewer injuries than karate.

Another rich-in-truth episode, thanks for doing and sharing it. Love the concept here brings to running, to run wherever you feel will be fun, keep exceeding yourself without the pressure and comparisons and bs running advices the community and social channels constantly share. Just do your own thing and have fun…

Finally we get a voice! The lesson for me is, if you love to do something it is never a drag. I teach and of course I don't do it for the money LOL and I run because I love how I feel while I do it. Ran Chicago and I think it was like 46k in total because I was running all over the place high fiving everyone and just enjoying the moment. Running is my therapy. Thanks for an excellent episode Floris!

Great, great interview. My favorite. Never knew this guy. I bought his book before I finished. Really good advice for someone who has struggled with ultras. Look forward to reading his articles too.

Love it ! Will definitely check more stuff from Brendan. I'm so fed up of hindrets of ultras and backyards making cheesy videos to "inspire" payroll. Just find your own freaking adventure damn it :)
