It's been a while! Welcome back to this little corner of The Flosstubery where I talk about cross stitch and the people who cross stitch and the places we go to cross stitch and also what we are cross stitching. Pull up a seat and grab some coffee, even if you're not a closer. I know I'm not.

I’m so glad you got to go to Stitch North!! And the needlebook you made for the smalls exchange is just precious. My favorite of the projects you showed is the Spanish Mystery Sampler. It looks so delicate on the 46 count. Ann Grimshaw is lovely too. Your crocheted blanket is such a treasure. One day I will learn to crochet.

Oh my goodness, Spanish Mystery Sampler is so beautiful - not necessarily my stitching but the chart and color choices are incredible. The camera doesn't do it justice. Crochet is so fun and is really much easier than knitting - Lori Holt has fantastic tutorials on granny squares. Do it!! : )

Loved that tiny piece … my tiny piece made a very cute bling for my scissors…I made my own cord with floss to match and went around my little sampler and am hanging seed beads to it. The actual finished is 2x1 1/2. On your space invaders maybe you can do the top of the creature in the first part of the day and the second half with the 2nd color… sounds unique. And I’m from below you in the Lacey area of Washington. Wish I could send picture of it to you.

Hi Jody! I’m glad you got the chance to go to Canada for a stitching retreat, how great! I will have to look for the movie galaxy quest now! What I like about theaters, in addition to laughter being contagious, is hopefully they have insulated you from the outside noise. And it’s dark, the screen is huge, and you are there committed to watching the whole movie, and you can get sucked in. Whereas when I watch movies at home, I am constantly interrupted by noise, doorbells, animals, you just can’t get as involved in the movie as you do at the theater. What an adorable miniature fruit basket needle case design! I’m afraid you’re going to need smaller needles to fit in there! 😂 I’m sure you will think of something you can make out of it, like a brooch, or an ornament for your tree or your project bag. Or the worlds smallest pillow! 😀

Hi Padma! I really do miss going to theaters, and we will probably try to go back sometime this summer if something comes out that we want to see. We have an IMAX screen at the Seattle Science Center (next to the Space Needle incidentally) and it is my favorite place to see a big Star Wars or Marvel type movie release. For all the reasons you listed. Plus, nothing compares to movie theater popcorn. It's not that it's the best, but it is unique and you really can't replicate it at home. I think you're right about the fruit basket - it is SO tiny!!

For some reason I thought that big banner behind you in the last video was a younger Leonard Nimoy. Don't worry if your videos are blurry because I stitch without my glasses on, watch on my phone next to me, and if I need to see something I have to put my glasses on. Maybe that's why I'm seeing Leonard Nimoy. LOL I enjoy your Flosstube. You have so many good WIPS. Your blanket looks great. Love all the colors.

Thanks Christy! If you've seen Galaxy Quest you'll know that it was a bit of a love letter to Star Trek fans and Alan Rickman's character was kind of akin to Spock, so I can see how you could have seen that. I also loved Leonard Nimoy (even met him for a second at one of his book signings and was completely star struck). Thanks so much for watching and for the comment!

Hi Michelle! Maybe one of these days we could have a fun crochet stitch day here on the deck since we're (almost) neighbors! Hi Jody, I am also a homebody and I’m glad to see you. I enjoy being home and creating things, but like the company of Floss Tube. Just a heads up if you put muslin on the back of your piece that you want to hem stitch, it can cover up your hem. It was really hard to stitch down the muslin and not let my project pucker or stretch. So now I use the SF 101 on the back of my stitched piece. I cut a piece very close to the edge of my stitching, then I pull my threads making sure Everything meets in the right place. Just an opinion. I might try sewing the muslin down first then start pulling threads. If you would like I can DM you with a photo of my first attempt.

I mentioned the fact that he died before the pandemic because he was discussing his sadness that people were less inclined to attend movies and plays in person because they had the option to stream things at home - and I wanted to clarify that this was said way before theaters were closed for public health reasons.

Oh, man. After being around teenagers since my early teens, being home has always been a retreat. Now that I have left the classroom, it’s getting harder and harder to enter the world. I just don’t want to. I’m tired of people and our drama and turmoil and chaos. Do I sound like a cranky old woman? I’m not. I’m very content with my circle of people, my stitching, floss tube and my animals. Im way to introverted to go to a retreat alone. Good for you! Stitching in hand is the only way I can do it.
