Nice recipe, John. The panko is an important ingredient. I use a little buttermilk with a slightly beaten egg (regular milk works too). You could also rinse the recyclable plastic bag afterward, dry it, and use it for gulp, swivels, boat sandwiches, etc. Thanks for the vid.

Mr skinner your book fishing the edge is amazing im from south jersey i fish the Townsend inlet most of the time ive learned so many techniques for fluke fishing from surf boat and kayak from you my success has been outstanding over the years and its from learning your techniques i want to thank you

It’s very similar to a speckled trout recipe that i commented on one of your vids last year. Sprinkle a little grated parmesan cheese on it at the very end...very delicious.Great vid as always. God Bless

Hi, John. I noticed that after the fish is in the net, often the angler puts the reel in free spool as the fish is lifted into the boat and lowered to the deck. This causes the teaser to get stuck in the net. To avoid this, the angler should keep a little bit of tension on the line until the net is flat or almost flat on the deck. The person on the net can move the net out from under the fish while the angler gives a slight lift of the line (probably using his hand at this point.)

Also, the person on the net can keep the tension by holding the line above the hooks.

@@johnappleseed936 Yes, I know it’s done so the hook or jig doesn’t come flying you. However, a little team effort prevents a lot of fouling the net. I haven’t had a jig come flying out of the net or causing harm since I started trying to prevent tangles several years ago. As a mate, it saves me a lot of work untangling.

It just kills me that you go to the same grounds time after time, with many other boats as well, you take legal and bigger fish and you expect that they will NEVER run out? If everybody takes a legal limit it reduces the population as you well know. See Massachusetts and the COD, STRIPED BASS, HERRING and now LOBSTER fisheries. Certainly the TRAWLERS are a factor as well. We REALLY need to be better stewards of the resource. I love that recipe! thanks.

I've released every single double-digit fluke I've ever caught, and many others > 9#. We run 35-45 miles each way on these trips. I don't think bringing home our limit of 4 each is excessive in relation to the effort, especially since I've only ever seen one double-digit kept from all of these trips.

its not the recreational guys that will hurt the population. if anything it will be the draggers.. even then there are so many fish down there. that's why having a size limit is important. all those small fish will be keepers next season and life goes on.

I think the original posters point is that the guy who, due to his job or life events, who can only get out, let's say 5 times a year, and wants to bring home a fresh fish on two of those trips, is under the same NYS regulations as a retired youtube fishing fanatic pounding the same grounds for limits to load his freezer, and the party boats that bring boat loads of people to pound productive grounds to limit out three times a day. But who would be surprised that John is tone deaf in his reply.

I’ve been making Fluke Francaise lately and it’s truly unbelievable, the sauce goes great with the mild fluke. 1 thing to make it even better John, flour the fish, egg wash, fry lightly, drain oil from pan I use coconut oil, add cup of white wine, 1/2 cup butter save the lemon for the sauce and some flour to thicken it up take only 30-45 second and it turns to an amazing gravy to add to the fish it’s out of this world

Interesting. I've been looking for some good sauces to go with fish. Btw, try using Wondra flour, it's much finer than bread flour, keep things light.
