Did you plug the hole in chamber 2 that flows into the main display? I am interested in using this UV sterlizer. Thank you for this video.
@cooleyscoral34562 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the video! I did plug the hole. Just glued a small piece of plastic to the inside and it worked out pretty good 👍 I am happy with the uv sterilizer. I have recently moved it to the first chamber to make sure all water flows through it!
@livingartreef2 жыл бұрын
The UV sterilizer is fed water via gravity from the overflow to my understanding. How does it get water flowing through it in your tank?
@cooleyscoral34562 жыл бұрын
Great question! Honestly I don’t know. I just have it below the water level with the hope enough water will flow through it. Somehow the filtration is working to keep nuisance algae under control. I might switch it over to the overflow and see how that does. I have had some possible dinos starting to appear so now would be a great time to move it! Thanks for the input 👍

I've had the same tank for about as long . How's it going for you ? The reason I ask is , all the videos are 2 yrs ago .

I have the same tank as well thank you so much for the poly fiber that is a good tip I have a couple questions I'm still in the early stages of my tank I was wondering how your parameters look as far as numbers wise if you could post those so I can get mine same as well as your light cycle you can tell me that as well so happy to see you have the stock light and for the last question I was wondering how long your tank has been up and running thank you
@cooleyscoral34562 жыл бұрын
My parameters that I keep up with are nitrates 5-10 and phosphates .10-.15. I have only been checking these up to this point but will be checking everything else soon since my coral have gotten pretty big. I have a video on my lighting schedule you can check out on my channel. As far as your parameters, just let your tank mature and see what works best for you. My tank is almost two years old and it took about 10-12 months to get it stable

@@rachell7315 the stock light is enough to grow coral for your tank. I like this light because I can run it longer without causing algae. Also the stock light when set on a timer only will come on white. The blue lights help the colors pop 👍

on stock light?? so everyone saying you need to upgrade the light is wrong lol?
@cooleyscoral34562 жыл бұрын
Yes lol It depends on what you are trying to do. For a simple softie, easy to care for LPS or even easy SPS the stock light is fine. If you’re new to reef tanks I think it’s probably better to stick with the stock light because it’s plug and play. You don’t have to worry about if you’ve set your lights at the right par or settings, which is difficult to leave alone especially on your first tank. Just my thoughts on it.

Hi there, do you need a protein skimmer?
@cooleyscoral34562 жыл бұрын
No, you do not need a protein skimmer. I tried using a skimmer but decided not to run it any longer. For one thing it was always a wet skim which made it more difficult to keep the water levels stable. Also it made the tank to clean, I couldn’t keep my nitrates up which can lead to dinos 👍

You can run it either way both have worked for me. Just set it up and let it run for a while. Patients is key with this hobby. Keep your nitrates and phosphates in check. It takes several months for the tank to mature and your levels to stabilize. As long as your nitrates and phosphates aren’t to high or to low you will be ok 👍
