Roger Seheult, MD of MedCram on how Fluvoxamine Maleate, an inexpensive SSRI medication FDA approved in 1994, was shown to reduce COVID 19 hospitalizations and deaths in a recent randomized placebo controlled trial published in the Lancet. Fluvoxamine (Luvox) was also compared to other medications such as ivermectin, metformin, and hydroxychloroquine in the trial. This is Update 138 in the MedCram Coronavirus Series
(This video was recorded on November 1, 2021)

Why are fluvoxamine and other low cost / less invasive treatments seemingly only starting to appear now, rather than from the outset? What medical / scientific reason were expensive and invasive and IP protected treatments like vaccines and remdesivir pushed, highlighted, funded and kept in the public discourse while cheaper pills were largely swept under the rug? Shouldn't the policy have been to prevent hospitalization first and then mass immunity, if even possible, after that?

Extraordinary, coherent and very complete explanation of another very important medical tool to help save lives...Many months ago, doctors in South Africa have reported the use of FLUVOXAMINE to reduce the devastating effects of the cytokin attacks that create blood clots (thrombi), that avoid oxígeno and nutrients from reaching the brain and all other vital organs, causing parálisis or death....

So I have asthma, which puts me at high risk, and I have been taking Zoloft for 5 years straight, which is in the same drug class; max dose of 200 mg daily. I still ended up going to the hospital because of COVID-19 for symptoms such as coughing up blood and being unable to breathe. Even if they are in the same drug class, how different is the mechanism of action for fluvoxamine to have a better impact than the other SRRIs.

Doctor, it's hard to fathom how this study shuts down ivermectin as ineffective when there are other studies that show it being very effective when dosed correctly and in the right infection cycle. This study, did it include the use of zinc in the HCQ as its function of an ionophore? If not that is counterproductive and if so then whatever happened to the data that zinc can shut down viral reproduction if used correctly and early? These studies with exact opposite results are confusing at best and frustrating to mystifying at worst. One has to wonder about confirmation bias or other factors because it's not coming off as logical.

Good info. Question: Did the HCQ arm of the trial include increased Zinc dosing? HCQ is an ionophore for Zinc that may reduce replication. It would be ineffective without Zinc. Most trials assess HCQ alone and that is not the usage that is recommended in HCQ protocols.

Thank you for the wonderful work you and your team do everyday to make us a more informed public.

Such a short term benefit should not overlook the research that has implicated long term Fluvoxamine as a dementia risk. Dr. Campbell also sung the praises of Fluvoxamine without mentioning the dementia aspect. There is far too much casual antidepressant use in society akin to the overuse of antibiotics. When considering a new repurposed drug the risk/benefit analysis needs to include whether or not an already existing therapeutic is safer and more effective. That indeed is the case as Ivermectin seems superior on all counts, most notably a much better safety profile. So why consider a drug that messes with brain chemistry when there's a better alternative? This doesn't make a lot of sense.

I'm a psychiatric nurse and think I have some valid input here. The dosage is huge so the high rate of non compliance is not a shock as side effects such as nausea, vomiting, and anything sexual are a huge quality of life hit. I would not expect the compliance rate to improve, but I wouldn't worry about it because if it fails due to nausea all that is really lost is today's lunch and $4 worth of Prozac. As far as the black box goes so few covid patients are under the age of 25 the simplest answer is don't prescribe it to patients 25 and under. This is really promising news for developing nations and insurance companies because the cost of other therapeutics like monoclonal antibodies is through the roof and the supply is very limited.

My fully vax momma (not my choice, The first shot in February almost killed her. Very upset that they decided to give her 2nd shot in April. My 90-year-old mother who is in a nursing home has had congestive heart failure few years and low functioning kidney for years and she’s been on hospice since February of this year because she almost lost her life with the first Covid shot. Last week She got Covid from her nursing home roommate, The night before Halloween she tested positive she skirted Covid for so long but they gave her a flu shot I’m sure that triggered & lowered her immune system ? I talked to her doctor & I was adamant and so is my family about her going on ivermectin along with whatever else he was going to do possibly even monoclonal antibodies but he said she’ll have to leave the facility for that so that’s not gonna happen. Well he put her on ivermectin Tuesday afternoon within 12 hours of ivermectin her fever was gone. (this was the third day her fever was gone). She was congested really bad for two days (6&7) they gave her all kinds of decongestants push fluids and on the 6th day they gave her monoclonal antibodies after all they found somebody to come in and give it to her. Now today is the 10th day and looks like she’s beat COVID!!! Thank God her congestion is almost gone she hasn’t had a fever since that 3rd day! Thank you Jesus! By the 11th day we got word she’s out of the Covid unit and back at her favorite spot sitting at the bar at the nurses desk chatting up everybody who comes by! By the way I’m in California so it was shocking that the doctor even agreed that he would give it to her. I told him I remember the facility had a scabies outbreak two months ago I’m pretty sure that you have ivermectin on hand. Now, In my opinion when I heard about the “so-called scabies outbreak” I think it was just their way of ordering a lot of Ivermectin in my humble opinion!!

I went to the emergency room to inquire about monoclonal antibodies and was told they are not very effective against the omicron varient of covid and was given a prescription for Fluvoxamine instead. I took two tablets the next day and the following night I could not sleep a wink and had a world class case of diarrhea. I initially thought these were symptoms of my covid getting worse until I read that sleeplessness and diarrhrea are side effects of Fluvoxamine. I was actually sleeping rather well and had no diarrhrea before I took the drug. As soon as I stopped taking the drug I was back to normal. I felt that getting a good nights sleep was more important then running to the bathroom every 20 minutes all night long and then being exhausted all the next day on top of being sick. How good can that be for you...

Great to know, but not necessarily good news. Ivermectin has similar capabilities, but no medical practitioner I know is willing to prescribe either off-label any more. Does anybody wonder why? Novavax has a vaccine that is more effective that those of Pfizer and Moderna, and has considerably less risks of adverse effects than those of Pfizer and Moderna, but the FDA has slowed down its approval process -- even though Phase III was successfully completed and the FDA has issued a statement to the effect that people who took the Novavax vaccine in the trial are considered to be fully vaccinated. Japan has already negotiated hundreds of millions of doses of the Novavax vaccine, but it looks like the Novavax vaccine may never be used in the USA, and instead we are hearing about the 3rd, and 4th jabs of the Pfizer and Moderna,.I recently heard someone saying we may have to take a shot every year going forward. Does anybody wonder why?

Question: will it alter brain chemistry as it normally does at doses and intervals used for covid? Is treatment ended before the addiction/dependency threshold? “Fluvoxamine addiction works differently than other prescription drugs on the market. Luvox is not considered an addictive drug by nature, but it can cause a person to become dependent because of how it interacts with the body. Luvox increases the levels of serotonin in the brain, and quitting the drug can spark intense withdrawal symptoms, which is why people have such a hard time quitting.”
