Flying Scotsman back on track 9/1/16

8 жыл бұрынFootage of 60103 Flying Scotsman on its first full working day hauling passenger trains on the East Lancashire Railway. 60103 was making her first revenue earning runs after a extensive 10 year 4.2 million pound overhaul at Ian Riley and son engineering works in Bury. We first see 60103 heading North past Burrs Country Park and then passing Irwell Vale en-route to Rawtenstall. The return run for Flying Scotsman is captured again at Irwell Vale and then finally climbing up passed Heap Bridge towards Heywood. Thanks to Mark for the two shots at Irwell Vale.

Thanks for getting lineside on a grey day in Lancashire Phil. Some great video of 103 captured there, caught the sound of 103 perfectly on the climb to Heywood, a perfect beat shows that I.R. certainly put the "buttons" in the right place when he set the valves - marvelous!! Thank you for posting - last time I saw Scotsman was on hot summer day in and around Worcester in 2000ish (someone will know), It looks well in black - great shots. You must have got fairly soggy!

Thanks for getting out in order to get some footage. Bit of a rugby scrum and the weather was not the kindest. The engine is doing well though for those not used to a Kylchap exhaust it is hard to tell how hard it is working. Are you planning on following the trip on the 23rd?

+kelly The class 31 was providing air and heat for the train. There was a faulty air pump on Flying Scotsman and it had also failed on 45407 so this stepped in to help. However Flying Scotsman was doing the work. If the 31 hadn't done this there might not have been a train but glad it all worked out in the end.

Flying Scotsman doesn't seem to be working until the last clip. Is that ugly looking coach pushing it along?

+Dave Coward The class 31 was only providing air and heat for the train and was not pushing on any of this video. We were asked to push only once for about 100 yards and that was it.

+Rory Lushman I'm glad about that. I just thought it wasn't working very hard and in the second clip was blowing off. The last one looked more like I expected. Was it uphill? Good video and nice to see it running again at last
