Your best video yet. The technology at your ready is just magnificent. I can not even dream of the situational awareness you must have. When I got a job flying the Barron 58 many moons ago, I thought I had died and gone to heaven because the plane had an RMI in it. ( in northern Canada we had more NDB's then VOR's) Can you manually tilt the dish on your Wx radar? Do not forget you can paint the coast line with that. Also, that standing lenticular altocumulus cloud was very beautiful! I truly miss flying above the clouds. Many thanks for sharing.

Thank you. I try to improve my videos with every flight. It is nice to know that I am working in the right direction. Situational awareness has certainly come a long way from when I started flying in the 90's! Yes I can manually tilt my radar and I do all the time when I am identifying the weather in front of me. I in one of my recent videos I briefly talked about ground painting and showed the black hole that was Lake Okeechobee.

Thanks for the video. Back in the 1980's my Dad owned a 1970 E55 Baron. It was an awesome airplane. He moved up to a Cessna 340 in the 1990's and has now stopped flying but always regretted selling the Baron and really missed it. Thanks again.

Had to add another comment. I live in NC, a neighbor moved here from upstate NY; we were discussing thunderstorms which we recently had. He said he had never seen thunderstorms like we experience here, while living in NY. We get some bad ones, but FL is thunderstorm alley. You really face some challenges dealing with those things! Hats off to you in negotiating those things.

Comments are always welcome! Thank you. Growing up and doing most of my flying in Florida I am accustom to them. They certainly require your respect and should be avoided. But having to deal with them has certainly increased my aeronautical decision making skills.

Good video. Thanks for the partial answer on the mounts, and using Foreflight with the Stratus II for the yoke mounted iPad. Since your comment about the Avidyne IFDs I've been looking, and IF I was flying again, and IF I owned an airplane and IF I was upgrading the panel, I really think I like the concept of the IFDs along with the IFD100 app. Tonight, you most certainly showed the usefulness of it with the re-routing of your flight plan. I was kind of surprised at the different coloring of the Stratus versus the ADS-B weather, each showing different intensities for the same location. I appreciate your engagement with your viewers, as well. Thanks for taking us along.

I will be showing the other mount in a future video. I just didn't want to video to feel like I was babbling on to long. I tend to do that. LOL I actually got into detail about the wifi setup but felt it was to drawn out and would have turned my viewers off. So I will try to discuss that in a future video as well. Yes, I was surprised about the different colors as well. You always want to assume the worst but also don't want to divert if it isn't really necessary. Thankfully I have radar & if both ipad show red then you know it's bad! LOL I am very grateful for my viewers and if I can help promote aviation, even in the smallest way I am more then happy to engage with my viewers!! Thanks for watching!!

This is my second video of yours that I've viewed; quite enjoyable & entertaining. I'm no longer current and it's been many years since I've flown. I did get my private pilot's license (SEL) in the mid 1980's. One day in particular I was doing some pattern work at the airport that I learned to fly at, which was KPTK. I had my student licence at the time and also did some touch & goes. When I was done and had secured my C-152 I watched a Baron taxi up and shut down. My flight instructor was with another student on that flight. I just remember thinking how much more complex that twin was than my 152. lol I never made a profession out of flying but the passion still remains in my heart today. My best friend I grew up with was the one that sparked the interest of flying in me. His father was a fighter pilot in the Air Force & also an airline pilot later on. My friend made a career out of aviation. While in the USMC he flew the F/A-18 Hornet & the Gulfstream IV. Now as a civilian he flies the 757 & 767 for Fed Ex. The passion is in the blood and is like a fever that never goes away. I'll never tire of it. In the Navy I was an Avionics Technician and served on 3 aircraft carriers. It looks like you have a lot of great videos I intend on watching. Happy flying and fly safe! 😎

It never goes away. I knew I wanted to fly when I was in elementary school. My goal was to go into the air force & I let girls and friends distract me (one of my few regrets in life). But no matter where my life took me I was always drawn back to my first love. Aviation. Welcome & Thanks for watching!

More cameras than before--good cameras, better views and audio, and you used to keep quiet without the good comments as now. It has always been good to see you fly. Questions: why is the dashboard eagle sometimes not there and 2. how is your ADS-B In weather with the time delay is it fairly real time and reliable ?
@BaronPilot
@BaronPilot 7 жыл бұрын
The eagle is my son's university mascot. It is my way of bringing him with me on every flight. I just rest it on the dash so sometimes it may be on the far right. The ADS-B weather is slightly delayed. I would not count on it for weather penetration. It is more of a big picture, weather avoidance tool. My airborne radar is better suited for picking through holes.

Where is your stratus mounted? I can't see it anywhere...
@BaronPilot
@BaronPilot 7 жыл бұрын
+Alan Waggoner it is mounted to the pilot side window just off my left shoulder. I have a cigarette lighter outlet in the backseat that allows me to always have power running to it.

I am using a 30 year old audio panel. Slight up cut through the internal intercom can be expected and does not necessarily reflect what is actually transmitted. Thanks for watching.

The usual comments - great job except for the radio work - NEVER say "with you" and you are saying two and four like two-one-zero thousand, "two-eight-thousand" "two-four-thousand" etc. You resist this for some reason but people watching may actually be able to improve JR

Why do the Americans always feel they have to speak so quickly?? Their command of the English language is poor at best and this speed just makes it worse. It is not professional and rather foolish.
