Final Part on engine assembly and test run, motor seems to be solid just a little bit of smoke at startup and thats it, still breaking it in! Has some serious compression! Thanks for Watching, stay tuned for the mini bike build!

I just got my hands on one of these that has been hidden away for a while. I plan on rebuilding it as well. It has a shiny arc billet flywheel on it.

Appreciate that! It did turn out good, I was disappointed that the screen wouldn't work the flywheel shroud I got. Thanks for Watching!

You use a torque wrench to tighten the bolts, but don’t torque them!! Hell yeah!! Awesome build, sounds great too!

I torqued them with it, i just didn't show it all on camera. I also went back and retorqued them after it got hot and cooled down. Thanks for Watching!!!

Very nice finish. If you get the offset flywheel key I would like to see how you check the timing. Also what carb will replace the OEM for more power. Thanks for a great series.
@fnaguitarplayer95 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I will make another video If i do decide to get the key. Alot of people are using Mikuni carbs, not sure of the size though, I like the look of the old carb on tank setup but it doesn't allow it to open up as much as it could, but for what I'm doing it's plenty of power. Thanks for Watching!

You should have put a different carb on the beast. I remember those old carbs from the early 70's. I enjoyed the video.

Nice Job Frank, sounds like it has good power. Are you going to get the offset key for timing, hope so can't wait to see it in your Mine bike, ripping up the Blacktop lol 👍
@fnaguitarplayer95 жыл бұрын
Thanks! It seems to run good with the factory timing so i may leave it alone for now, I do have 2 other keys but they are the same type as i put in that broke. If i do I will make a short video on it and how much difference it makes. I'm actually kind of glad I didn't use it because it likes to kick back sometimes, so i know it would be worse if i advance the timing! Thanks for Watching!

Great videos sir can u help me whats a good starting point with tunning jet screw how many turns counter clock wise?
@fnaguitarplayer94 жыл бұрын
Thanks! Usually 1-1/2 turns to 2 turns will get them running then fine tune them from there. These can be picky carbs, sometimes a 1/16 of a turn will make a huge difference! Thanks for Watching!!!

So what's the difference in a raptor crankcase cover and an I/C?

So I'm having a problem tuning my 5hp. It's runs great at full throttle *no governor* but it runs lean at idle and shuts off after idling for like 10minuites but if I rich it out it will runs good at idle but runs like crap at full throttle and I can't seem to find a sweet spot and it does this with both of the carbs I have
@fnaguitarplayer95 жыл бұрын
These carb's are bad about that, this one was very picky to tune in, I will suggest if you haven't already to replace the mixture screw and jet, it seems to make a huge difference on these carbs, makes the mixture screw work smoother, more gradual adjustment it seems. I'd try and see what happens. Still even then like a 1/16 of a turn seems to make a huge difference in mixture. Thanks for Watching!!!

The valve-springs are allmost the same - but not all - some are different in length

How would you describe a block like that, but with a governor? Would the parts you used work in a governed block with the governor removed? Thanks
@fnaguitarplayer92 жыл бұрын
Yes, everything else is identical, this is just a more bare bones racing block, but any 5hp model 13 block can be used, some may have ball bearings on the crank but most will not. Thanks for watching

How are you going to plug the carb vent hole. I'm building a 5hp at the moment to and I'm wanting to delete the vent I just don't know how I'm going to plug it

Vinyl vacuum cap would work perfect for that.

@@fnaguitarplayer9 that's a good idea I haven't done it yet. Today I installed a arc billet connecting rod and I ported and polished it and lapped the valves and also installed new rings and I can tell the compression is way up I can't wait to start it up
@cravenmoorehead5636 Жыл бұрын
If you run an aftermarket "stock" cam you definitely need to advance your timing. Also a billet flywheel is absolutely unnecessary with a stock build. They are proven to uptown 10,000 rpm. Only time its needed is in an actual limited modified or open build.

Id be careful using a lock washer against aluminum. It can bite in, and become lose over time.
@fnaguitarplayer94 жыл бұрын
i'll keep an eye on them, the factory bolts have a lock washer too. Thanks for Watching!!!

That was one if those things my dad would always preach, but i just looked at my flathead, and sure enough there's lock washers on the side cover lol I stand corrected!
