Archival footage shot by an amateur filmmaker while travelling North America in the summer of 1965.
It contains stock footage of Montreal, Canada:
00:06: Sun Life Building;
00:16: Mary, Queen of the World Cathedral;
00:24: Chateau Champlain Hotel under construction, with marquee of the Laurentien Hotel on the right (demolished 1977);
00:37: Dominion Square Building - this, the Sun Life Building, and the CIBC tower ringed Dominion Square which was renamed Dorchester Square at the same time Dorchester Blvd was renamed in honor of Rene Levesque;
00:42: Queen Elizabeth Hotel. Four years after the footage was shot, John Lennon and Yoko Hono would have a Bed-In here;
02:14: Canadian Pacific Railway's Windsor Station - directly across from the Chateau Champlain construction which they also owned;
02:53: Looking down from the CIBC Tower observation area;
03:37: Montreal Stock Exchange tower;
03:48: Jacques Cartier Bridge ("Harbour Bridge" when built). Allows access to Ile Sainte-Helene where Expo 67 would be held a couple of years after this film, and the location of the fort where the next few scenes take place.

I was year old when this was filmed. Brings back fond memories of Montreal when I drove around city with my late father.

Nostalgic yet eerie at the same time knowing that all the people shown on these busy streets are likely dead today...

Not all, but most. If you were a young child in 65 you’d be past 60 going on 70.

I was born in Montreal, (Pointe Saint Charles), in 1961. Lived there until 1981 when I joined the Air Force. Nice memories in the film, the buses, the old bus signs, (64 went on Wellington St. in "the Point"). Cops with horses and motorcycles. The buildings, and of course the street signs, wonderful to see "Dorchester" St., and of course all the English signs. Things have changed so much, and not for the better. Practically no english anywhere, many street names gone, changed to french... Even though I'm fully bilingual, I did not feel welcome last time I visited in 2012, and I really don't see myself ever going back to Québec.

Thats sad to say but Montreal and Quebec are french land. We were not welcome french citizens back then.
