Hello, friends ❄️
I struggle so much with winter. Honestly, this New Year, I've felt foggy and lost...very much afraid of the darker months to come. I just couldn't find it in myself to be motivated and set intentions this year, and that is more than okay. Maybe soon, I will get organized and prepare for 2022. For now though, I need to rest and trust that my value is not defined by how much I'm able to accomplish.
You're self worth is not measured by your achievements. YOU are more than enough, just the way you are right here, right now.
Thank you for being here, friends ❤️
Big hugs,
Morgan
‪@AshlyPerez‬ Ashly Perez quote: “Perhaps the greatest misconception I have been debunking in my own life is that doing, rather than simply existing, is the thing that makes me valuable. It is my hope that this book helps you make space to think, reflect, and feel rather than overwhelming you with steps to take. Trust that you are valuable for being exactly who you are at the moment you picked up this book.”

Is everyone going through the same season of life right now? I felt this one, a lot. 2021 brought a lot of good as well as the bad. I think coming into the New Year, I’m just tired. I’m tired from looking ahead and looking backwards. Great things are ahead, but being reminded that it’s ok to just…be… is so needed. Thank you for taking the loneliness out of our lives as well. ❤️

Funny, I'm not sad at all in winter. More like the opposite. Finally, the scorching sun of summer and fall has gone away. Believe it or not, but people who have sun all year round find that depressing. Every day looks and feels the same. And with it comes a feeling of unappreciation. I grew up in the four seasons, and I miss that so much. I love your channel.

I really recommend reading Wintering by Katherine May! It covers many of the same themes as this video and it deeply changed my perspective on winter and rest. The book explores the idea and necessity of "wintering" a term I love and now use all the time. It's part memoir, part self-help, part essays on winter. The idea that rest is not only important but as necessary a part of life as winter is to the seasons has completely changed both how I see winter and rest. The writing is also beautiful!

I think the hardest part of the winter for me is how the season doesn't really feel like winter anymore , it's just wet windy and mild , no snow or beautiful blue skies with frost, I don't need to wrap up warm , and enjoy the traditional sense of winter like I previously have done , I would love to live where the seasons are more defined , bloody wet damp UK 🤣

Such a beautiful video... It might sound strange but I have those same feelings, of sadness and isolation... during summer. In the Southern hemisphere (I'm in Argentina) we've just started summer and it feels like it's been months of it already. it's been SO unbearably hot... took me years to realise it: I don't like heat. During summer I hibernate. I stay inside all day under the A/C, I feel really down, unmotivated, physically weak, lack of good sleep makes the whole day a challenge, I can't go out because I'd melt on the street. It's suffocating and I lose my will to live, do things, cook, or just move around. I'm like an amoeba for 3 months and I don't like it. Next week we'll have temperatures over 40°C (that's like 110 in F). Heatwave doesn't even begin to describe it. There's no way to live in this weather. I just wanted to say that I REALLY understand your feelings and that for some people SAD (seasonal affective disorder) works the other way round. Believe or not, I'm the most energized and motivated in cold weather. I was definitely born in the wrong side of the world. Sorry for the rant! Hopefully soon you'll find days are longer and milder. Lots of love.
@MorganLong
@MorganLong 2 жыл бұрын
It makes perfect sense to me that you would feel the same during your summer months. I would definitely be right there with you in your feelings, stuck un the A/C unit if I had to live through continue 110 F weather. Being stuck inside a house, depleted of the energy to live your life despite your best intentions is heartbreaking. I'm definitely affected by SAD. We just need to remember that how we feel during these hard months is not who we are. When the weather is better, we are more alive -- that's the time that's more reflective of our character

I am a single mother to a disabled child and hence, I had the chance to disconnect from the logic of always pushing for more or connecting my worth to my achievements pretty early in life, simply because I had to - still, sometimes I feel so disconnected from the world and its culture of achieving. This is such a beautiful reminder to appreciate the (sometimes also very, very challenging) nuances of silence and slowness in my life. A beautiful video and so fitting to meet the slow darkness of winter (even though it already get's a little brighter day by day). Having this narrative video as the first of 2022 reflects this idea of rest, taking a step back, and just breathing very, very nicely. Thank you so much for this.

Morgan, thank you for this video. As a month January feels simultaneously like this big fresh start and a daunting period that requires us to be our best selves. I've always found January to be overwhelming. All the change that comes with it leads to bigger comparison and self doubt. That quote you shared really put things into perspective. Implementing new habits and bettering ourselves cannot just happen overnight with the changing of the year, it takes time. So, showing up as our authentic selves is all we can do, and just continuing is amazing. This pressure is only made up and I can't think of a single person I'm hoping will change in 2022, so why am I putting this pressure on myself? That's something I'll figure out eventually. Anyway this video made me feel a little less alone, so thank you. :)

Thank you so much for this video. I’ve been a subscriber for a long time and it amazes me how each video helps me in a different way. They help me to be self reflective and make me want to live my life as freely and joyfully as I can! This one in particular really helped change my perspective on free time and achievements. There are so many things I want to achieve in my life but I found a quote by RM from BTS in which he said “Happiness is not something you have to achieve. You can still feel happy through the process of achieving something.” and that really helped change my perspective on success. Because it made me realize my biggest dream is to be truly happy, and you don’t need something grand to achieve that. So thank you for always being a steady reminder of that. I truly love your channel so so much 💕

And this is why you are one of my favourite comfort content creators. You seem to always hit the nail on the head when it comes to topics like this. I think I’ve been struggling with this feeling for a while (and not just through winter) since I have had bad energy levels because of my health. I’ve always had this but I feel in the past year it’s become more prominent than ever. Sometimes I can’t do anything other than sleep during the afternoon since I have no energy to do so and I used to feel so bad about it, and I still sometimes do a little bit even now, but I’m starting to learn to accept it more and more. It’s a slow thing to learn but I’m learning. I don’t have M.E by the way, it’s a complicated thing to do with my health that even doctors and researchers can’t understand 😅 which doesn’t help but like I said I’m trying to learn to accept it. That quote did really touch me when you said it. I am a person who loves goal setting and knowing what I’m doing in life and I’m wanting to try and disengage from that slowly. Even though I have goals and resolutions this year I think my main theme this year is to be open to things. Open minded towards people and new experiences. This means there’s not too much pressure in achieving anything per say. I can hopefully live in the moment more and say yes to things that sound exciting to do or rest when I need to. It’s not going to be easy to do but I think I need to work on it this year. Thanks for the great content Morgan! And I hope you get some great rest in this season :)

So heart warming, sometimes us little beings forget that we're a culmination of billions of years and star explosions creating elements that flow in our veins and how incredible our existence is :) Happy New Year Mo, Lan and Roo :)

What a beautiful video 💗❄️. Praying you find joy and rest in this winter season! I love winter, it’s so magical and peaceful in the snow. More animals seem to come out, everything looks fresh and clean. Everything is cozy. And you’re right, all I want to do is curl up by the fire. 💗 Being a new mom there is not a lot of time for rest, but I’m trying to learn to rest in the small moments.

Thank you for your videos!! I love them. I put this one off until I had some uninterrupted me time. I like the "quietness" of your surroundings and you voice is so calming. I too have been struggling with self-worth for a long time now. I'm trying to find my intrinsic worth and not have it tied to my work, but it's very hard. Thanks for sharing the quote and the thoughts!

Oh boy this hit home SO much! Morgan when you said you felt "overworked and emotionally exhausted, not sure if you want to try again"- girl I so feel you. Being a creative is amazing but people don't realize it can be so draining! This video was full of so much wisdom- thank you for creating it and reminding us that sometimes pausing is SO much more important than just pushing forward.

Thanks Morgan, I enjoyed this so much at the end of a work week! I fully intend to have a slow weekend and completely agree with you that sometimes doing nothing and seeing the magic in the everyday, is what we truly need. I love the atmosphere you create in your videos, so much so I almost feel I'm there with you! Portland s soooo pretty in the snow and your deer are adorable, some of my favourite clips are those of the nature around you 😊 x
