340 tractor, only made for 1 ½ years, from 09-79 to 03-81, then they changed the model number to 340a and 340b, these two models are completely different.
This model only came with the flat top fenders when you ordered it with the 745 loader; otherwise it came with the clamshell fenders. Loader lifting capacity is 2500 lbs, power up and power down, no float.
Rear lifting arms are category 2, with a lift capacity of 2000 lbs; PTO has neutral, Transmission and Independent.
Transmission has 6 forwards, 4 reverses, with high and low range, speed is about 9 mph at 1200 RPM.
Engine is 3 cylinder diesel, 47 horse, many of the parts are no longer available, I’ve had to come up with most of the steering parts, on the drag link the tie rod ends are off a 72 dodge 1 ton, the steering rod I had to make the whole thing and the tie rod ends are off a 67 International Travel all, spindles are off a 8240 ford and machined down to fit, on the right side of the tractor the rim is off set, I had to make that as well, engine parts and sheet metal are still easy to get.
Tires and wheels where made by Firestone, rims have the word Firestone stamped into them on the inside along with the date of manufacturing 6 of 1979. These rims are a little heavier than most, standard is .187 and these are .218. Rear rims are solid welded, (none movable)
They didn’t make very many of these tractors, there’s almost no information on this tractor on the internet, they didn’t even track the serial numbers.
The front end of this tractor had a 100% failure rate because the parts were made by the lowest bidder, (the parts I used is a forever fix)
