Not really the first start. I had to crank & bleed it yesterday to get it ready to fire up. It would have started with less cranking if I had the fuel system fully primed. It's a 6.6 from a 92 F600. Wrecking yard wrote it off as a core. So far, I made a #0 plate, tightened up the gov springs, and advanced the timing a few degrees to 15*.

Looking forward to seeing the finished product here. I also think it's neat that you're staying with a ford engine for the truck. We have two trucks we run on our farm with that 6.6 and they've been very reliable. My only complaint with them is their lack of power, but I see you have a remedy for that problem!

@Lawrench00 Not too hard to find, you just have to look at New Holland tractor dealers most of the time. A good source for hi performance 6.6 or 7.8 Fords is Forresters

Oh ok we have a 92 and doesn't shut off with the key we have been killing it with the clutch. But after i saw this video i went out and pulled it and it died so i guess our solenoid is missing too.

You can get a setup from a NewHolland tractor shop or a good Ford Truck dwaler. Its similar to a choke cable, just pull to kill the engine.

It is where the fuel shutoff solenoid used to be. I am pulling on the lever that shuts it off.

How many miles did that 6.6 have on it when you swapped it?

It was right at 88,000, after an overhaul.

I picked up a 6.6 at a junk yard and am looking to put it into my '86 F150 that is lifted with 46" tires. Do you know of any adapter/transmission and transfer case setups that would be short enough to do a 4x4 layout in a reg cab long box? Also thanks for all the tuning tips you've posted! Can't wait to swap for the worn out 7.3L Powerstroke that replaced my 300 (factory motor) and get back to the straight 6!

I got my 6.6 from a bone yard too. No aftermarket adapters at all. Ford did use the 465 trans in some early F600s. That adapter is available. That would keep it as simple as a 300. Be careful on the axles, it may grenade them when you get on it too hard. Post pictures on my facebook page: Low Buck Diesel Power.

OK that's good news. I will have to try to come up with that bell housing. I have a 465 but took it out in favor of a T19 and NP205 combo. My axles are off a '05 Super Duty so they should hold up pretty well. I will definitely post pics... Hopefully I can get going on it by summer.

Oops I misread I have an NP435 you must mean the Muncie 465?

Jess Highum Sorry, 435. The one used in the F100s for years. I still have one in my 67. Some of the Med duty 5 and 6 speeds arent too terribly long either. Bad part would be having to do a divorced transfer case with the huge Ujoints coming off the trans.

In Brazil the truck drivers don´t like this engine . i have one in my Ford Cargo is a pretty engine, not boil and is very powerfull !!
