This guy is a poster child of what maintenance and not abusing your truck can do. Arod, it would not hurt if you called Roush and told them who you are and what you do, then ask if you could be there when they cut it open. What is the worst they will say….no? Heck if you DONT ask the answer is no anyway, and being a Ford diesel mechanic it would only enhance your knowledge base and make you more valuable as a master mechanic. Ford needs people like you in corporate. You should really think about finding out if you could do that. I am sure they have master mechanics under the employment of corporate Ford. You are young and hungry you need to pursue promotions now.

One day they will know your name, they are just scared of people that tell the truth. I have watched a lot of KZfaq diesel mechanics over the years (ashamed to say I used to think that Bill Hewitt was da bomb), but now the two absolute best guys to watch and trust is you and adept ape. I don’t know if you ever heard of him but he is a big rig mechanic. You are NOT a nobody, you are a intelligent and well spoken young man with a drive for success and honesty with a gift of being able to understand and the application of mechanics (which is not a simple thing in todays world). If the videos you produce are any indication of the real off screen you (only you know that), then from what I see the content of your character is strong and sound. The reason I am telling you this is that in this life people are quick to condemn but slow to praise and it’s the praise that makes us stronger, remember that if you ever have kids. Be well and remember YOU ARE THE KING OF ALL THINGS POWERSTROKE !

Well I'm at 150 K as of last week, still on the factory DPF. Started having trouble with it around 90,000 with very frequent drive to clean messages. Started running fuel treatment made a conscience effort to reduce idling time and did forced regen for a few months but I haven't lately and it's been virtually trouble free since then. This guy obviously does a ton of highway miles which is why the DPF lasted as long as it did

Those 330K are likely hard highway tow miles. I would say its likely that if those where softer miles, that engine would have lasted longer. Then again, maybe the dpf wouldn't have lasted as long. Regardless, impressive truck! Makes me feel good about buying my 20' 6.7 USA!!!

That’s right! I’ve got 50k miles on my 2015 F2FIDDY and she’s got an 8” BDS suspension lift on 38x15.5R20’s and only had regular maintenance done. Not any problems except at 21k miles my upper fuel line where it attaches to the filter can busted. Not sure which one; but it’s the one that always failed lol thankfully it didn’t go up in flames and was repaired and cleaned by the dealer. Other than that, always had it serviced at Ford. These diesels aren’t some old school international so I feel better having everything done by techs familiar with 6.7’s than just some regular mechanics wrenchin on it. Not that they couldn’t. Just my preference.

I'm hoping to buy a used F450 in the near future. ( F450 crew cab dually 4x4 , hopefully a King Ranch ). I have worked around Ford trucks for along time and found them to have very good body and frame construction. The 6.7l diesel is the only engine to interest me. Ford did a fairly good job on it. Seeing this truck with close to a million miles on it is impressive to say the least.

I would like to know what failed on the engines as the malfunctions of the engine can contribute to the def system having problems obviously this didn’t. I would also like to know the engine oil change intervals and what oil he used as this likely could have helped the def system last longer. Also maybe fuel filter changes. Does he have any extra monitoring gauges? I monitor my def system regens on an edge tuner and try to complete each regen cycle before shutting the engine down. If he only drives the highway long distances this could contribute to the longevity of his def system.

Have a 2016 with 60k now. Bought it in 2020 with 21k miles. I'm doing Hotshots EDT and just started a bi-yearly Hotshots Extreme on long trips. Looking at the Cold Tube since I tow sometimes a huge 43ft Toy hauler. Do t want to get stuck with a blow out of that. Also wanting to do a CCV bypass. I'm surprised with low miles how when it's running I can remove the oil fill cap and see oil steam steadily coming out like a chimney and it has a little pressure. Oh and it's got the newer non-servicable CCB Seems it has a steel pan already. But I don't want to get leaks. So CCV bypass seems like a must.

There’s a difference between someone just owning one and someone actually working it. Usually the ones that have been worked have the least amount of issues and have been through proper regens instead of running 15-30 minutes to work and back home. Same goes for the infamous 6.4’s. Ones with the most miles have been worked and not abused. Seen some 6.4’s over 400k on the original engine (mostly 2010’s😉).

Towing campers across the country. That's what allowed the dpf to go almost a million. Every Regen was allowed to complete. Although a 900+k DPF seems impressive, it's only 10ish years old. With that millage per year, that's the best you could do to a DPF. The general community who does not put on 100k interstate miles per year do not have the luxury of good, solid, consistent, regen cycles. A semi, or more of a medium duty truck can rely on this more. But again for the rest of us commoners, a focus on a clean and reliable regen would be best to focus on (short term). I use my truck for RVing with my family and yes, DIY home projects which are fun. But unfortunately, I do not get the frequent and durations on the interstate to really help with this. Just a thought. Wish I could help.

Bad thing about extended warranties, they run concurrent with the manufacturer warranty. So the extended 125k warranty, you only get 25k worth of warranty for that price you paid for it. Not worth it, pay for the extended warranty when the manufacturer warranty is close to running out, that's how you maximize its worthiness. The finance manager will not tell you that but that is how it works. Extended warranties are a big waste of your money when you buy them upfront

The DPF is tested to run assuming everyone is going to use their truck hard. The problem is with the weekend warriors that buy a truck like this and only get to pull with it occasionally. That is harder on the emissions maze than putting it into the wind and letting it eat every day.

The guy went through 3 engines in that 1 million miles that's not great longevity out of those engines at about 300k a piece. The rest of the truck is in great shape for the miles.

Lol so the dpf ate up 3 engines and Ford wants to know how , I don’t understand how this truck is bragging rights that’s 60k in engine and a trani but tue interior held up 👍 the bar in new trucks seems to have flatlined at this point oh and don’t forget the tires most likely out lasted atleast one engine as well lol

I don't know I think when you hit that mileage instead of dumping cash into transmissions and rear axle replacements and a ton of stuff to come, ect.. it's paid for itself cause with that mileage you are using it for work. Time for a new truck and go for another million.

If that engine in the truck right now has 200k and his ccv reroute has not caused him any problems then I am doing it. I guess Bill and the other people that say it will damage your engine are wrong.

The DPF has lasted due to constant highway driving and heavy loads. The thing is constantly doing a “passive regeneration” 4 engines? That’s no good compared to Cummins and Duramax. C Farmer ( a RV transporter)here on YT has a bone stock 2017 L5P Duramax with 500,000 miles on it. There are many Cummins and Duramax engines out there with over 1 million miles on the original engines

How he drove it you ask? Simple, he made the truck work, he made the exhaust manifold get real hot so that the DPF would not get clogged with soot. Burn that crap, don't let it sit running idle like all the morons out there that have no idea how to operate diesel engines. Idle build soot, heat burns it. I've worked around diesel engines for 22 years and bad driving habits is probably the number reason morons have issues with diesel trucks. Good video dude.
