I'm trying to decide if I should work on my daughters focus 🤔. Same issues stuck clutch. Great video, you made it look easy.

thanks again for another great video! I have two questions. you mentioned earlier in the video that you attempted a re-learn with the tcm before pulling the trans... was that done with external software, or through the car settings? my second question, does the tcm require any programming or re-learn if only replacing parts like shifting forks or actuators? thanks again L8R

What type of grease do you use on the fork shoulders and splines ? Also have you had any luck with any clutch sets other than LUK ?

I’ve tried different grease. They all work good. LUK kit seems to be the best. Haven’t had issues with them. Other brands fail after a while

hey bud i put in all new stuff, arms, seals, clutch, all brand new. problem is if i put gas pedal to floor from a dead stop i get a hard shift from first to second gear. if you drive it normal it doesnt do it, i almost have to try to make it do the hard shift, but when it hits, it hits pretty hard. im thinking tcm, as i put in a supposedly 40k unit, but i think its bad gonna try an get one from ford under warranty. is that a common issue with the tcm failures, (just having a hard 1-2 shift on wide open throttle? it seems to drive perfect other than that ive been driving it every day, im sure its tcm, just been to busy to get another one, i agree with you these are actually great cars, i really do love the thing, im only pulling 25mpg with lightly spirited driving, which is ok with me, especially for the nice power this car has, do almost all city though, im thinking thats about normal mpgs?!

So is lubing up the acuators a good idea for preventative? My 2014 is at 157k with original trans (had clutch update done early on tho.

I have a 2017 Focus, got it at auction with 125k, carfax says the dealer replaced the clutch at 119k mi. It drives and shifts fine, no issues, except it makes a noise intermittently when slowing down going out of 1st to a complete stop. It is a scrape or clank sound that is def transmission related because it happens right as the transmission goes out of gear. It happens only when slowing and stop. Not when accelerating or anything else. Any ideas on what I can check or what is common?

That sounds like the influx capacitor is out of whackitymcdool but a simple thingy magingy will go ahead and resolve that situation you have for the moment

A question I would like to ask Most of the issues are related to dust ! Is there a way of cleaning this temporarily by putting in brake cleaner in whist it is idling. Obviously the cleaner would come out of the bottom of the bell housing if a hole is drilled . Just an ideas on my behalf . Thoughts Please ?

Are most issues related to dust though? Maybe most issues are related to rust, due to moisture, and lack of moisture management? Maybe extreme heat is the biggest issue, there is only like one vent hole up by the shift connector after all. Say you did drill a hole or two in the right spots, maybe a 3rd one for access from the side (which all I have done for multiple reasons), then ya I say you definitely can pretty much drown the damn thing if you wanted, because it's mainly a standard clutch and can be open to the elements.

@@adrianfoy6790 This is hard not to sound pretentious or whatever, but it's because the designers decided not to put a vent or hole at the bottom; they opted for a pit; maybe they wanted these things to fail, in order to make more money. How many times have we seen awesome engines and transmissions, only for them to be discontinued in a relatively short time? This is a horrible society after all, so bad things happen and people make bad decisions or can't think things through very well.

@@L8R-HP Did you do it without an assembly table? Did you reshim the differential? I have been given conflicting information about needing to reshim the differential.

You can buy the OE LUK Repset for around $600 with everything new. The fix for these cars at the dealer is a dead set rip off.

Hey L8R-HP, I've got a 2014 ford focus with 187k miles on it. It has been really good to my wife and I. I have owned it since new. Once in a while actuator B gets a little mad but I clean it with break clean while actuating it with a spline tool. Is this temporary? Should I pull the transmission this coming summer and replace all the components, or could I just throw them in a parts washer?

Next to nobody really knows how these forks work, without smashing one apart! Spraying the center screw head on the fork, via the actuator port, doesn't do much at all, especially for the B Fork. There are so many other tiny bearings in these forks and some you can't free up once rusted. And if the tiny ball bearings let go near the end of the center screw, the fork isn't fixable.

@@fearthecheez If it works then you lied via your "Once in a while actuator B gets a little mad" claim. And if clutch B code is coming up, your transmission is still working because of vibration and none of the springs are broken. And it will only get worse with time, more rust, ect. You just got lucky this far. Smash a fork apart, learn how it works, figure out what's really going on with all the bearings and why they are not moving easy anymore.

I am having issue with the Stuck A Clutch after installing LuK Clutch kit. ForScan doesn`t see the TCM, I am unable to do the relearn.

Check your grounds. And battery. Did you release the clutches after install by turning them 14 times counter clockwise?

Plastic washer on the fork rollers. Never paid attention to that until now. Should be metal.

You can press out the center pin on the two bigger rollers as well and do an even better clean and lube.

Why would you go to all that trouble, switching out the entire transmission, without taking the forks off either or both of them, to see what you're dealing with and for cleaning and lubing as well???

What about when it says transmission fault. Service now. I replaced everything but the cylinder sleeve and the clutch. Also the old clutch wont learn touch points a and b . But vehicle drives ..crusty and junky but its drives 😂 kinda .. its a ford any help man ? I put 4000$ into my focus and i cant figure out this transmission service now sign on the dash. No codes at all.... help anyone

I kinda had an issue like that. I noticed the second plate on the dual clutch just spun freely and while messing with other ones found it’s not supposed to. I replaced the entire tranny with one from a junkyard cuz I just so happened to find one with a brand new clutch/service so that’s nice.

You can pressure wash. Just use air to blow water out asap

Avoid one vent hole between the engine and the transmission - near the end of the shifter cable. Or drill one or two small holes in the right area(s) on the opposite side and wash to your heart's content.
