Top notch installation video! It is much appreciated! (Torque info below) In addition to the information provided in the video. 1) Place both shift fork assemblies in their proper location. 2) Tighten the four (4) Torx fasteners, common to the fork assemblies and transmission, finger tight. 3) Install the two clutch actuator motor assemblies using the eight (8) inverted Torx fasteners, finger tight, ensuring splines align. Per the manual, “NOTICE: The clutch actuator motor splines must be aligned with the clutch actuator and the motor must be flush to the transmission clutch housing before tightening the clutch actuator fasteners to specification. Failure to follow this notice will result in damage to the actuator and motor.” 4) Torque the four (4) Torx fasteners, common to the fork assemblies and transmission, to 19 Nm 5) Remove the clutch motor to allow for the clutch locks to be unlocked after clutch and damper unit installation. 6) Align the markings and torque the four (4) inverted Torx fasteners, common to the fork springs, to 26 Nm. 7) Torque the eight (8) inverted Torx fasteners, common to the clutch actuator motor assemblies, to 5 Nm.

I removed the electronic throttle body. I found it made things a little easier with dealing with flywheel nuts, the starter, and the shift cable.

When putting in the last large snap ring you talk about the “nub” on fiestas lines up the white line at the 9’ o clock position and that on focus it’s at the 6oclock position . I was doing a focus clutch replacement and both the old and the new clutch the “nub” lines up with the white line at the 9’clock position? Either way it shifts like a dream now. Great video! Before I attempt to pull the transmission I thought maybe I would ask here about my issue. My car will often not upshift from 3rd to 4th. After driving for 5-10 minutes the car will usually shift perfectly normal. This seems to coincide with the traction control light coming on. When the light comes on, the car will upshift like normal. Ford just replaced the TCM last week. I replaced the shift actuators today . The shift forks weren't stuck when I checked them. I cleaned up all of the grounds. I'm at a loss of what could be causing this.

When i remove these clutches i just take the snap rings off and dump the trans on the ground and the clutch comes out on its own. Very quick this way lol. I hate setting up the special tools

First off thanks for the video. Was looking for what tool I’d need for the spring nuts so learning that an 8 mil works is very helpful. And also you said you don’t know what pleb means. It actually is Roman, and was used to refer to the common free citizens of Rome. You can think of it like the working class, not much in the way of political power and pleb is short for plebeian. The other end of Roman society were patricians, wealthier citizens born into power. They were social classes and were hereditary I.e. you inherited them so if your father was a plebeian you were one too. So the saying “like a pleb” is saying like a simpleton or commoner. Most people use the saying to usually mean like an idiot.

18:38 is that damage to the inner race I see from ponding on it. So there is a spline a little way behind that bearing Hopefully that is not the reason that it takes so much pounding. Lets just say I have questions Thanks for all your help. I do really appreciate it

Hi i have question i have a 2013 fiesta 1.0 ecoboost with that transmission and the transmission works fine and is still smooth but i have a like scraping sound coming from it has anyone had a similar problem like that not wanting to have that checked yet until i have a slight idea what it could be but i think something is wrong with the clutch and not the gears because it still shifts fine

Ben, It looks like I broke Actuator A clutch fork spring by doing the brake cleaner and lube method. Would I be able to replace the clutch fork A only and reinstall the original low mileage clutch assembly? How does the actuator A and B spring socket get released? Is there need to unlock procedure?

Hey man, awesome set of videos for these. I also think these are really good cars and transmissions, just a little misunderstood haha My wifes 2014 has made it to 200k but its time for a clutch at this point. It's had this low pitch vibration for a long time now too, really loud, so I'm going to do all the engine and trans mounts at the same time, being sure to watch out for the black and white bolts I've been able to follow along with your videos for removing the transmission. All If have left is one bell housing bolt and the transmiaionn mounting bracket. I am stuck until I find a transmission jack or engine lift at the moment. The clutch is still in the mail anyway. Your videos on this subject are a goldmine. A couple questions about reinstallation I haven't seen adressed yet. When bolting the clutch back to the flywheel, I'm assuming I'm good to put the little piece of rubber behind the strater back in so the clutch bolts aren't dropped inside the bell housing And is there no way at all to relearn the clutch at home? If I do have to tow it, can I at least crank the car to be sure things look correct before towing? Or should I just wait for the clutch to be relearned before I even attempt to run the engine at all? Dude, get yourself a box of 7 mil. or 9 mil. gloves from Harbor Freight. They're having a sale this week/end and they're heavily discounted. You can ask the staff to try one on before you buy, too. I was using 5 mil. nitrile gloves and they never last. Got a box of 9 mil. and I've already used them multiple days. And, if you don't know already, to get them off and reuse them, blow air into them at the base of your palm and they come off pretty easily.

I just replaced my clutch and when I released the actuators I heard the “click” on the first actuator but no click on the second. Do I install the trans and hope for the best or do I have to remove the clutch and start over????

Ben, when you install the new clutch do you have to reset the car, computer. Would disconnecting the battery work if you don't have a scan tool. Thanks Big Ben

Hi Ben I'm having troubles getting the clutch down far enough to set the smaller snap ring I've tried everything from a bs hone made press to the 34mm and tapping it in and I can't seem to get it down for enough anything I mite e doing wrong or any suggestions on how to get it set down for enough

hi Ben I followed the video to a T. here's what I had before the install first and second was slipping but the car was very drivable..got the luk kit and installed it and everything went well.I removed the shipping things from both clutch Forks and made sure they were in the correct place and unlock the clutch A&B it made the normal sound and then rolled back.. reinstall the transmission made sure all the connections were back in place..now the car has no reverse and it will only go 15 mph in drive! feels like some kind of demon took over the gas pedal. when I open the driver's door I can hear some clicking for about 10 seconds. any help would be greatly appreciated

OK, I did your other video lube in the actuator hole seven or eight times and it was like seven or 8000 miles now when I do it, I lose spring tension after about six rotations and it’s hard to turn and it doesn’t get any better. I put a whole can of WD-40 in there now, it’s worked so good before but this time and I do hear it just a tiny bit of clicking in one spot. Does this mean that I need to replace the forks? you can just turn the transmission upside down, lifft it about 3 inches and let go, it will fall out

I have a 2017 Fird Feista SE Non-turbo. This is my wife's car and I do take care of it/baby it. It started acting up about two months ago, while driving it seems like the brakes would come on by themselves eventually bringing the car to a stop. You could push the gas in drive and reverse and the car lifted up like it wanted to go but seems like the brakes were on. If you let it set for an hour or so it would be ok but would do it again 30 minutes or so later. This is a great video but I sure hope this isn't my clutch. Strange because I have both front calipers off and they were a blank to get off and when I start the car and push the brakes neither piston moves. I would greatly appreciate your thoughts.
