@@rookiemvp2008 I normally use an air ratchet, like in the video. But if they're very tight for some reason, you can get a mid-torque impact up in there to bust them loose. Such as a miluakee m12 3/8". Otherwise, a mid-deep 13mm socket or even a full deep should push against the access hole and keep the engine from turning too much

@@BigBensCarsAndCycles Ok one last question, my LUK replacement clutch and forks didn't come with a packet of grease to apply to them. I tried to source the little yellow tube of grease that ford recommends but couldn't find any except online. Do you have a recommendation for a replacement I could buy at O'Reilly's or AutoZone? Would a high temp spline grease do the trick? Sorry for all the questions!

@@rookiemvp2008 It's OK. Anyway, I just noticed your last message now. I may have answered your question on another post already. But yeah, I think spline grease would be great. Such as yamalube moly spline grease. It just needs a touch of grease on the actuator splines, and tips of the clutch forks where they touch the slave cylinder

I have had 3 of these they all act like shit but this is the first 1I had that has started doing this and it has a newer TCM so I am thinking clutches are taking a shit? It started shuttering in reverse which I first assumed was just a trans mount but now it is acting like it is popping out of gear I put in park and it will be fine so idk. Thanks

Top notch removal video! It is much appreciated! (Torque info below) In addition to the information provided in the video. 1) Place both shift fork assemblies in their proper location. 2) Tighten the four (4) Torx fasteners, common to the fork assemblies and transmission, finger tight. 3) Install the two clutch actuator motor assemblies using the eight (8) inverted Torx fasteners, finger tight, ensuring splines align. Per the manual, “NOTICE: The clutch actuator motor splines must be aligned with the clutch actuator and the motor must be flush to the transmission clutch housing before tightening the clutch actuator fasteners to specification. Failure to follow this notice will result in damage to the actuator and motor.” 4) Torque the four (4) Torx fasteners, common to the fork assemblies and transmission, to 19 Nm 5) Remove the clutch motor to allow for the clutch locks to be unlocked after clutch and damper unit installation. 6) Align the markings and torque the four (4) inverted Torx fasteners, common to the fork springs, to 26 Nm. 7) Torque the eight (8) inverted Torx fasteners, common to the clutch actuator motor assemblies, to 5 Nm.

Hi, thank you so much for sharing this with us, I’ve learned a lot from your videos… I have one concern, I just did the clutch and forks cleaning on my 2015 Ford Focus SE, it was running and driving perfect just had 2 codes for slow performance of forks. After I cleaned everything I put everything back and every wire/cable is connected but my car doesn’t start nor communicate with the scanner. When I turn my ignition on the engine light does not come on it take around 10-15 secs to turn on and as soon as the engine light turns on it says “Engine Fault Service Now” car has no crank nothing just sits. Every fuse and relay is good I can’t figure out what the issue is, can you help?

Sorry to hear. I would make sure all the grounds you removed are clean and tight, and properly attached. If you disconnected the connector inside the fuse panel, try reseating it. Make sure the battery cables are properly attached and tight on the battery. Make sure the battery is good and putting out 12 volts or more

Hi, glad to help. Generally the clutches don't wear down from what I've seen. They do develop heat spots on the pressure plate and shudder. Since your fork was sticking, it may have heated the clutch up and caused hot spots. You can try resetting the clutch (locking it) and blowing all the dust out with a strong leaf blower or shop air. You'll probably have some shudder but you can get some more life out of it I bet.

After 70,000 miles I need to have this done. Is it worth it?
@BigBensCarsAndCycles
@BigBensCarsAndCycles 7 ай бұрын
Yup. They're great cars otherwise. Only a few minor other issues. And either way that's low mileage on your car. So it's worth more than one with over 100k

Ford will replace them if its less than 100k and 10 years.

You need to paint your sockets and extensions black before using them with an impact wrench.

Hi, the clutch should click when being unlocked

No when I turn it to line up the holes in the flex plate.and the forks don't click and no lock
@BigBensCarsAndCycles
@BigBensCarsAndCycles 6 ай бұрын
@Paul-ze7fg you may want to pull it out, relock the clutch and check your slave cylinder. If you want to post a short video the noise on my discord or Facebook group that would be helpful to hear

Did you use the clutch tool to set the clutch down or you just use the fork retraction method to set the clutch
@BigBensCarsAndCycles
@BigBensCarsAndCycles 3 ай бұрын
I used the handle to set it down and then punched down the clutch enough to install the snap ring

@@maxmorris383 light enough to lift yourself, but heavy enough to be awkward to maneuver. I would get a used engine crane for 100 bucks and lower it down that way. I've got a video doing this job in the driveway and that's what I did. I hooked it to the lift eyelet on top of the transmission
