To address the physical dial on the touch screen. Two reasons the dial doesn't feel like a traditionally mounted dial - One, Ford didn't want to cut a hole in the screen, as that would create a whole world of problems to overcome going through a capacitive touch screen. Two, because it is a capacitive touch screen, Ford used pads on the back of the dial that are able to be detected by the capacitive screen. Thirdly, the dial allows push dial functionality, to be utilized after a future software update. As for the screen size - It wasn't sized to one up Tesla. Remember that lots of people with eyesight poorer than yours will appreciate (and indeed will need) larger "buttons" or switches on the screen. It also helps to facilitate the visually persistent controls at the bottom portion of the screen. I drove this car, and the screen resolution was very good and the interface was beautiful. When resolution is increased, fonts tend to become smaller and finer. I believe Ford has chosen the perfect resolution.

Kris … wait about 10 or 15 years and you will understand the value of that large screen. I can’t read the clock in my X3 without reading glasses - I laughed out loud, a happy laugh, when I drove the Mach-e and used that big screen. It is a great car, and much more fun to drive than the model y. And it looks so much better.

It would have been so fun to see a "long commute" in that weather you tested the car. I bought a Mach E because I wasn’t willing to leave the North American dealer network, warts and all. Funny thing, they tried to push a 2022 GT on me at two sites 🤣. I did find a knowledgeable salesman though who helped me with my use case and the 2023 AWD premium xtnd range fit. Anyway, yes the normal dash display, manual frunk (emergency adapters et al) … I like this car more every day. One note, I am learning to watch charge level before range calculation like I see you do, seems manufactures differ in presentation, Ford seems to think its NA users should be very careful 😅 but I’m learning to manage in Western Canada with the dearth of charge stations outside urban centres. Road trip to coast in Spring 🎉

Thanks for the video. Funny - Other people are saying that they love the big screen so they don't need to squint like they need to do with Tesla's screen. Resolution? It's a car. Not a movie theatre. If it's too pretty, you won't be paying attention to the road. A normal door handle is old hat. This one is very stylish. 🚐🚐 The European people are going absolutely crazy about this vehicle.😜 It's just starting to roll out. 🚍 You will see them everywhere pretty soon. People will be saying : "Tesla who?" pretty soon. The cabin is beautiful . Not plain and basic and boring like a Tesla. IT IS COMPLETELY OVER FOR TESLA. Tesla doesn't have enough range. 💥💥💥 Kris was struggling to find anything wrong with it. The car is the best. Beautiful. No more gripping. Please keep the Pony clean. Thank you.

Tesla gained an advantage by being ahead of the curve in the move to electric. The old school manufacturers are now throwing their weight behind electric cars and have learned a thing or two on how to design and make cars in the last 100+ years, logically life will get harder for Tesla going forward, unless they can find more technological improvements. ( check out Tesla’s new die casting of vehicle structures game changing in my opinion !)

The point about door handles is a good one. Virtually every EV has a flush design and I find it hard to believe they make any significant improvement in efficiency when in front of them is a big bulky side mirror sticking out 6 times further. I think it's more of a thing that automakers are trying to make everything about EVs futuristic and needs to be different for the sake of it.

Back then they only offered a car that pushed $60,000 usd and sitting in the showroom was a Model S. which I loved I bought a used S I still love my car and feel that it still is the best for me Hard to switch to a car that doesn't have much more You should also review a used Model S and compare

Having owned are currently owning a Ford Mustang coupe, when the idea from Ford was leaked a couple years ago that they would build an EV called the Mustang Mach-E I was quite skeptical. This new Mach-E exceeded my expectations and has many positive attributes. While not a direct replacement for the coupe models, it does offer a practical solution for a general purpose use vehicle while still maintaining an element of fun lacking in many vehicles in this class. I have no problem with the naming convention and simply refer to this model as the Mach-E. Thank you for the honest review and general opinion.

Lack of heat pump is a strange and annoying omission and ground clearance for a "SUV" is only 5.7 inches which is important to note before purchase. Otherwise a very solid first attempt by Ford..sorry i mean Mustang :)

I have a premium, large battery, awd -- I still love it. I still love the large display. The handling is great, the suspension is a compromise (way better than my wife's mini, not as good as my now retired X3). The steering is very good, it tracks well and the feed back is good, much better than the jittery steering on the Model Y. The Model Y steering also seemed to get worse -- less stable feeling as the speed goes up. The model Y has better software (not just the silly stuff), it has either faster software or a faster processor, so there is much less lag than on the Mustang. The Mustang's software is well thought out and good enough, but it could use a speed boost. The Model Y has what seems like half the amount of physical buttons as the Mustang, and the loss of each button makes the car harder to use. I live close to the original Tesla plant, and there are literally 18 Teslas within 500 ft of my home, and I greatly prefer the Mustang's looks -- and at least for now its uniqueness.

I'd like to see if the range is really better in the real world. Watched another youtuber drive a variety of cars from 100% to completely empty and although all cars drove further on paper than they did in real life, some did better than others. E.g. the M3 SR+ drove further than the polestar 2 despite the story on paper being different.

I like that you address the on-paper way of evaluating cars, which have become so common with the introduction of EV’s. I also think the rest of you conclusion is very interesting. 👍 I could live with the interior details that you rightfully point out as not being the best. Really not a fan fan of those doors though. I must say the doorhandles on the Model 3/Y are actually better. The REAL dealbreaker for me would however be the lack of a roof rack. I also miss a separation net to secure the cargo when filling up the trunk. Why does only German and Swedish cars have this? My conclusion is that the Polestar 2 is an even better buy. It has none of the “flaws” of the Mach-E, and actually more ground clearance. Yes, it has a smaller battery and thus shorter range, but still good enough. And it costs less even with things like the matrix style LED head lights. I would even choose the XC40 over the Mach-E, although I do think the Mach-E really stylish and a great addition to the EV market. 🙏

What's your view on the trend of manufactures selling direct on the web I'm put off by not going to a dealer to see the car in the flesh
@Tafsern
@Tafsern 3 жыл бұрын
Even though they sell them online, you can see the car cars in showrooms and events and you can try them. It's not like they are kept away from you until delivery. I see no problem with that at all. Polestar does it that way, and there were no problem seeing the car in the flesh or drive it. They good thing about it, at least in Norway, is that you get 14 days to use the car and you can send it back if you don't like it and get your money back. By law, when it comes to buying things online.

Hey Kris, i feel like you backpedaled a bit on the charging speed. Initially you said the charging speed should be closer to 30 minutes but now you're saying 42 minutes to 80% is just fine. I have to agree with your first conclusion, that the Mach-E's charging speed is too slow for the size of the battery.
@omelvold
@omelvold 3 жыл бұрын
I think the important thing here is how many km/miles it can add per minute. 42 minutes may sound like a lot, but in practical use, this car has so good range that most people rarely will have to charge for so long. If they have to fast charge at all. 🙂

No electric car reaches WLTP ranges, that said Tesla objective is to change the automotive world to electric. They know that they cannot do this alone & so every electric car that comes to the market helps with reaching that objective. my dislikes....door komplexity....lack of heatpump...and its still a SuV likes: Design for a „Suv“....price kwh for the buck....heated windshield....the basic does not lack anything. It is a full working offer. Relative small tires.

A big screen AND a lot of buttons 🤯😂 I don't like Tesla fanboys. But I don't like the opposite neither. And it is very clear that you really just wish to find cars that can surpass Tesla at any cost. It almost seems sickening 😁

The seats are a weird shape with no support and you "sit funny" on them but they're comfortable? Really? No need to keep telling me you are "Not a fan" of something. Just say that you don't like it.

Understand that may be confusing, and to be clear. When I say comfortable I mean they are soft and comfortable to sit on, the actual cushion. It is the seat back that has a weird shape to it, but yeah I totally understand that I wasn't very clear 🙈

A great entry into the electric vehicle market.(WLTP is not realistic) Tesla wins again, as they do with every new electric vehicle that arrives on the market.

Lol... well actually you can ask Google "what does a fart sound like", and she will fart! In fact you can also ask "what does a burp sound like", and she will give you one hell of a burp! We discovered this accidentally while waiting in line at a car wash with the kids in our Mach-E yesterday and the kids nearly died laughing! It was actually my 8 year old daughter that discovered it.. go figure! So because you have Android auto and Apple carplay built-in in with wireless support, it's a definite win! 👍

What are you on about? Pretty much all Tesla models have higher range than the Mach-E. Tesla's are superior in every way compared to this trash. Tesla's full self driving will be the nail in the coffin for Ford when it's fully released.
