I would surely like a monthly video on the "financial aspects" of living in a mini van. Revenue from KZfaq, working jobs, cost of living, car payments, taxes and everything is money related. Most KZfaqr who live in vans avoid talking about money. They sensationalize living in the van, but in reality some people are going through financial hardship and shedding a light on the financial aspect would surely help them out making a decision.
@tarstarkusz3 жыл бұрын
Keep in mind too that you are getting a carefully packaged narrative. There are many downsides and aspects they never talk about either. For example, I think he and Kira are in some kind of relationship, but they both need their vans and even just spending a night together in one of those 2 vans would be very uncomfortable to say the least. Getting internet way out where you can camp for free is spotty at best. Diesel is rather expensive in Canada at $1.143 Canadian per liter, about a 1/4 of a gallon. He's going through upwards of 6 liters a night, though probably less most times. Still, that's over $200 a month in a cold spell, which is pretty common in Canada. They cannot store much food, which means a lot driving. Those big heavy vans (loaded with wood) get poor mileage. Daily showers are a thing of the past. Answering nature isn't fun either. Mail is a pain in the butt. If you need something, you have to have an address for shipping it to you. All this is assuming you already have a van. Thousands for the van and a thousand or more additional dollars to make it "home" This is assuming you have the tools and ability. AAA is a must have. I do know you can probably save a lot on insurance by finding the area with the best rates. My area is HORRIBLE.( But there are places you can do much, much better.) $1000 (US) every six months for the state mandated 15/30/5 liability only (no comp/no collision). But you really need full coverage for this. You don't want an accident taking away not just your car, but your "home" If forest's van gets stolen, he looses everything including a bike that is probably another $2k (high quality fat bike's are not cheap) I was never a KZfaqr when I was doing it. But, it was also 30 years ago. It's cheaper than renting an apartment, but in many ways, it's not really a fair comparison. You also need storage. I don't know what storage units costs these days though. Even small storage units were expensive back then. I can't imagine even a small unit being under $20 a month, especially without a contract.
