Xanathar's goldfish appears to be named "Sylgar." Also it looks like there's somebody whose job it is to hold the cards up to the sides of the fishbowl so that Sylgar can see them. Delightful.

Now you're making me feel my age for different reasons. I was at a D&D themed escape room at GenCon one year and was the only participant who was able to solve one of the puzzles because I was the only one who knew that thac0 wasn't a random jumble of letters/numbers.

Its not a 2/2 for 2 or a 4/4 for 4 (which is two 2/2s for 2 stapled together) so it can't ! Its also not a Forebearers Blade, which is four bears!

According to a brief Scryfall search, Worm was in fact a pre-existing creature type. There aren't many, only 8 previous cards, but it did exist! The most famous of them is probably Reef Worm, the one that dies and makes a bigger creature token, which then dies and makes an even bigger creature token.

Well, it is on flavor for D&D. Dice Towers are often used in D&D sessions, and seeing as how these prerelease packs come with d20's, it makes sense.

Yes, Magic has both Worms and Wurms. No Wyrms as yet, but I'm hopeful. Less hopeful for Wirms, Werms or Warms, but the night is young.

The Eye of Vecna looks to be the most expensive card in the pack right this moment - TCGplayer market price is 8.39 USD. Fighter Class is around 4.82 USD market price. (listings are lower though, high three dollar range?) Plate Armor is MP 1.56 (but has listings for 28 cents) Eccentric Apprentice is sub 50 cents. Grim Wanderer is around 90 cents. The rest are commons, which are all sub a dollar (and likely to go down, same with the uncommons.)

Oooh, new content! We love to see it. And as a DnD fan, it's an especially exciting set. Would love me some Full Plate Bird Bear Owlbears, let me tell you. A lot of chonk! To the point that I feel like, just picking value in your colors, you might inadvertently end up in 5 mana tribal in this set. Owlbear looks real solid. 4/4 for 5 with draw 1 and additonal positive ability? Yes. Sign me up for that. Love me an Azure Drake.

Just beat a guy on Arena tonight with 4 of those owl bears on the battlefield at once. It was a rough 3 games but I got there in the end with black/white control. Gotta love traditional draft.

A couple years after release, the most valuable card in the pack is Fighter Class at $4.80. It seems to be a very popular card in Commander, specifically equipment-heavy Voltron commanders like Wyleth, Soul of Steel, Bruenor Battlehammer, or Ardenn, Intrepid Archaeologist paired with Rograkh, Son of Rhogahh.
