That season he was almost totally out, he was out for achilles surgeries on both feet. That man played through pain like no other. I can’t image how he would have dominated and lasted had it not been for the back injury.

The three-point shot didn't come around till 1986, bird won it in '86, '87'and '88, he was scheduled for a 4th appearance in '89, but he had the flu and had to miss his chance the 4 back-to-back to back-to-back. It might be one he saw a couple of seconds before and might be in any direction (including no-look). With Larry if he ran a break he would run down the entire length of the floor without looking around, and then pass to someone just by knowing they were there. Sense of smell or something. It was mystical.
