Former Post Office executive Angela van den Bogerd faced questions from Jason Beer KC as part of the ongoing inquiry into the Horizon system scandal.
In particular, questions focused on emails sent to Ms van der Bogerd, including some outlining Fujitsu's ability to remotely access the accounts of sub-postmasters without their knowledge.

She was happy to rattle off enough other names to try and blame them and not herself. Favorite question from Jason Beer was when he asked her what it was she did there.

There needs to also be an inquiry into executive pay. That so many senior figures on obscene salaries seem to "forget", "be unaware of", and have "no knowledge of" key points would suggest there is a serious problem. Either these huge salaries are NOT getting the best people as the ideology would have us believe, or once in the job they're so well-rewarded regardless that they have no incentive to make any effort at all.

She was aware of remote access in Oktober 2010 on hand of the first email she had received where it was raised as a suspicion, in December 2010 she received the email conforming and in full knowledge of the remote access and sent another email to Ron and Mark with instructions (today she couldn't recall that or why she formulated that message. *her credibility was down the drain at that point* In 2013 she was part of a questioning of a subPM all whilst knowing said issue. In her statement prior for this ongoing enquiry she said she knew about it for the first time in 2018. She got called out on it by her own emails and meeting records. She's DONE!! Ready for the next round 'ding-ding'!

These people knew what the company line was, implemented it, cover up to maintain it, and this is how they maintained and improved their career there. They must have known that questioning or drawing attention especially in writing to the Horizon problems would be a career ending move.

Judge Peter Fraser criticised Van De Bogherd her testimony and said she "did not give me frank evidence, and sought to obfuscate matters, and mislead me". Beer KC, lead counsel to the inquiry, challenged Ms van den Bogerd's opening statement, as he accused her of not saying sorry for her own role in the scandal… The actions and motives were to save money and for personal gain in the way of significant benefits & bonus pay outs!!! Not to protect the brand.., it was to protect shareholders and save the business from going bankrupt!!
