I know they have to charge some for travel time there and back and the probably few minutes or an hour of their time, but $600 is a little much for just uninstall and reinstall. @@cleo5721 the full installation took about an hour or so. But each persons situation could differ depending on how their water loop is set up. That’s the hardest part really. The connection of the waters softener is easy.

@@cleo5721 no it wouldn’t be too big. But you can also choose the size down. I think it’s the 45,000 grain? They have a couple models to choose from.

I have this extra sediment filter ( Fortitude V2 Series Triple Purpose Filter) along with the 64k grain softener which is making me think twice about doing it myself as it has to either run through before or after the softening . But other wise this video is super helpful.

Yes, this system came with the sediment particle filter as well. I didn’t install it in this video. But I did install it in another house. Usually they run it before the system so that it catches anything large coming from your city supply. But I’ve also seen people install it afterwards. In case anything from the filtering tank, makes its way through. Either way, it’s just another added layer of filtration and a big plus.

One of the best and easiest videos on doing this type of setup. Thanks for the great video! I'm about to cut the cord on my monthly water exchange service and you have given me a lot of useful info. I think I have the same type hookup as yours (one clear flex line going into the house and two copper water lines that attach to the tank). I think my copper lines are smaller than yours. My system also seems to be looped together atm. Looks like I need to do some cutting and making sure I get the right shark bites for my application. Otherwise, you have given me some confidence!

That’s awesome. It’s definitely something you can do yourself. And cutting the pipes and putting the fittings on is probably the easiest part. If you know the pipe size ahead of time, you can obviously have the fittings in hand and ready to go. But you could also take the loop that you cut out to the local hardware store and compare it to the right fitting as well. Most commonly houses have a 1 inch line. In my case it was one and a quarter. A little bit more common in newer builds but just depends on where you live. And who your builder is. But it’s all very doable.

@@FortKnoxCo I just found a small scrap piece of copper pipe that was on the floor near where the hookup is and it seems to be 3/4" ID. Off of one of the pipes, there seems to be a small ball type valve that can be turned open (for aux water...maybe like to wash cars, etc?). Anyway, I'm guessing that would denote it being the "out" side. Now to get a parts list and the courage to tackle this job. Thanks for your reply and help.

Your very welcome. And I know exactly what your talking about. My first time having someone come by from a installation company they quoted me first around $6k. Then talking them down to something like $2.3k. Still pretty crazy. That’s one of the reasons I do a lot of DIY installations, it’s because I’m motivated by the savings I can have. I can actually afford to have some of those nice things by doing it myself, and not having to be charged or overcharged in some cases. It’s a lot of things that we can do ourselves if we just had a little bit of information. And nowadays with KZfaq and Minnie, good channels out there it’s really easy to find that information in Build that confidence.

You're right about the instructions at the beginning not telling you to leave the outlet closed during that System Startup. It only says to open the outlet to let it flow back in the house at the end of the instructions on step 5. I'm sure many others like me started it by reading one step at a time. 😅 LOL Thankfully I was also watching your video while doing this and shut off the outlet valve at the 5 minute mark after starting it. I do have one tip I'd like to mention. For anyone setting this up for the first time. Make sure to secure that drain line. When my unit kicked on that drain line shot up out of my floor drain and sprayed water all over the place. 😂

lol oh no. Yes good information. You should have that drain like secured for sure. I didn’t realize how much pressure that small line would have. If you don’t have it clamped or secured with a connector of some sort you should definitely make sure it is. Great informative video. I installed the Aquasure water softner today. It took me about 8 hours but it was my bad because I had to make multiple back and forth trips to Home Depot for parts. i will tidy it up tomorrow and have it running inside our home. I purchased a PEX tool for the connections and it was pretty simple once I got going. On to the next home project..... Thank you so much for taking the time and going step by step.

That’s awesome to hear! That PEX tool is awesome. Did you get the pex A expansion or PEX B clamp style? We have pex A in our home and it’s all I’ll ever use now. Having that tool is a life saver. I’m about to run all water lines in this casita build. I’ll be filming all of it and doing explorations on all the areas. Kitchen, two full baths, laundry, exterior hose hook ups, everything.

I try to put stuff in videos that I found helpful and parts I know people might have trouble with. Show them some techniques I used to overcome an obstacle. Just installed my system - very easy to follow..only challenge is the blue retaining clip. The yellow was simple once I took it out (as shown) but the blue doesn’t go as flush.. it’s in and not going anywhere but would’ve liked seeing how you got it to set. Great video!!

That’s great you got it done. Sorry I didn’t get the video of seating the blue clip. Those small pieces can be tricky sometimes. But once you know how they are supposed to work you can Hopefully figure it out like you did. If I make another video showing the next install I’ll try to go in more detail on those kind of things.

After starting it for the first time and it goes through the first process (bw?) I thought it meant to open both valves on the tank (was reading instructions not watching video at this point) so after a couple of minutes of it running with both valves open I saw the last bit of your video and ran back to shut off the valve to the house (out valve?) on top of the tank…. Then I sat back for a few more minutes and remembered I had installed bybass valves in case I needed to take remove the water softener and still need water to the house, needless to say I shut of the bybass’s as well but only a couple of minute remained on the bw cycle. I’m wondering if I need to restart the whole cycle now 🤦🏽‍♂️

Your very welcome. My guess is I’d think your fine. But I’d still get a hard water test kit and check to see the water hardness from an unsoftened location and then a softened location and make sure it’s softening the water sufficiently. Just to get piece of mind. When I did the water hardness test it just reconfirmed that it was working and I could sleep easy.

Just installed this system, this video was extremely helpful. Ended up having to go with 3/4” to 1” from my wall to pre filter and then on to softener. Got shark bites with 45* elbows with threaded male ends on them. Lines connected directly. They had 3/4 to 1” lines at ace hardware for $20. Did the replacement/install this afternoon, it’s working like a charm.

Just installed my AquaSure water softener and had to really lean on your video. I had the same issue as you with the orange locking clip not fully seating. It was leaking water when I opened the Inlet valve. Pulling the whole fitting out really saved me some head scratching. I used the Sharkbite supply lines connecting to 3/4 copper. Really hoping I wont regret that. Anyone out there had any issues with those? Thank you for putting this video together.

Awesome you got it done. Yeah there’s always a few troubleshooting along the way but we get it done. I’ve never had a problem with shark bites. That type of connection is commonly found in many places. Even on the water softener, lots of stuff nowadays has push in connections. Rule of thumb I always say is if your going to use them in places that you can see or are exposed then go for it. You’ll know if it’s failing and can address it easily. Don’t use shark bite connections in places that are covered or concealed like inside walls and attics.

Thanks! Looking into this water softener. I bought the Whirlpool one that all sites say is great but it crapped out on me after 1 year and the customer service is full of crap. So I’m just going to replace it. This design looks like a better solution from what I’ve seen with the Whirlpool.

We love this one. Have no complaints at all. Very simple and I like that the tank and salt bin are separate. But overall it’s the best bang for your buck in my opinion.

Well ladies and gentleman I just got my water softener installed Saturday. I used shark bites I ended up making bypass just in case if I ever have to service water softener yes I do know water softener does have by pass but if you have to replace or get water softener serviced I don’t have to shut my water off. Make sure all of the shark bites have rubber o rings installed inside. One of my shut off valves did not have rubber o ring installed I had leak when I try turning water On. Before you cut measure twice maybe even three times lol. I was able to by pass one out of three faucets going outside. So when I water garden I’m not using soft water. This video did help my a lot Thanks again Dude keep in mind if you guys attempt this project mustaches are optional 😂 👍🏻

No. Not on this model, it doesn’t ask you to refill the tank and then secure the top. With whole home systems that have a tank that has carbon mater inside they usually tell you to flush or fill the tank to “activate” the Charcoal. But with a water softener tank with resin inside it doesn’t require it. Once you turn the system on and open up the water flow it will fill on its own

On 5:04 make sure you counter clockwise the gray little basket. Its a bit tricky but once it sets in the proper position you have to apply a little force until it snaps in. Then pull it straight up if it doesnt come off then you hit the spot!

Great job on the video. Our Aquasure is suppose to be here Monday. It's replacing a Waterboss that lasted about 9 years. I read a comment somewhere that a guy filled his toilets,sinks, dishwasher and faucets with the resin beads. I guess leaving both valves open during the initial flush would cause that?

It should cause the at because you have the plastic filter and I believe there’s another layer of partial filtration to prevent the resin from coming out. I’ve seen systems that say for month and months with no use and then they were reinstalled at a new house or something and it blew out all the resin beads. Could have been from deteriorating internals? Not sure. I’ve also seen the system be hooked up backwards and the water flowing the wrong way through the tank could cause this too. That’s another reason I like installing a post particulate filter, the canister with the big cotton filter inside, before the water makes its way back into the home. That will catch anything that makes its way from the circuit water or from the filtration tanks.

100% you should’ve had me do it. I got a delivery free to my door for under 700 bucks and it’s a lot better than the other ones I had bought in the past. They started at $5000 or so and if I felt like I was getting a deal I could get them down to close to 2000. But I also just installed a reverse osmosis system so if you haven’t done that hold off lol. I just drilled a hole through the courts and installed it last week and I have a video on it here soon.

Great explainer video! I have the same system in my home. I had to reroute some plumbing so that I wasn't softening the water for my irrigation, but I have a pex system and a raised foundation so it wasn't that difficult. How often do you end up changing out the salt? Seems like mine is about every 1.5 - 2 months.

That’s about how often inhale to add a bag or two. Not too much. But it also depends on how often you have your system set to do the flush/refresh cycle.

Are you referring to the pre or post filter ? The canister that filters large particles from the water? This unit did come with one but I did not show that process of install. I have the process in another softener install video though. This video I was mainly focusing on just the softener unit. Because not everyone get a system with the particulate filter. And some like to install it before the unit and some prefer to install it after the unit.

If your home doesn’t have a softener water loop at all… you’ll have to add one. This isn’t too complicated but might require a plumber to come out if your a beginner. But you can have a loop placed into your main water supply that comes into your home and have the plumber just finish the loop with two 1” male ends and a shut off valve while their at it and then you can connect your own water softener system and still save thousands.

You’re welcome. & yes it does. I just didn’t install that on this video. I had set it up without the pre filter and used it that way. But I installed another system that is a whole home filtration system and that one has an in line carbon filter as well and I showed that process on that video.
