Found GOLD while Underwater Metal Detecting at a Wakeboarding Park!

Жыл бұрынJoin us as we take our metal detectors and BLU3 Nemo diving systems to the next level, and explore the underwater world of a wakeboarding park! I'm joined by @MichaelOliverLJR, @downunderdandiving3357, @TreasureAdventure/@detect-ed (Ed & Katelyn) and @Kurtleman on this diving adventure. We're on a mission to find hidden treasures that have been lost in the water over time, and have just 90 minutes to do so before the park opens.
As we make our way through the water, we uncover all sorts of interesting treasures. From gold rings, to a phone and even Apple Watches, we're amazed at just how many different items are submerged below the surface. I'm on the silver and GOLD today -- I hope you enjoy this adventure as much as we all did!

What a crew, what a day! 🙌We felt super lucky to join this hunt, especially with such great people and at a VERY unique location. We're surprised your underwater footage came out so well - for a lot of it we may as well have had our eyes closed 😅 Another incredible adventure, already looking forward to the next one :D

It certainly wasn’t the easiest dive conditions out there! You’ll notice I was grabbing and sifting for targets more often than fanning - that was so I kept at least some visibility for a while, it worked well but meant that target extraction took a little longer. I think we all need a rematch someday. Cheers 😁

Great day out with friends. Good lot of finds. Cool ring. Talk about a forest down there. Very sad the last moments of the GoPro. It could see its owner but they couldn’t hear its cry for help before it sank to the murky depths 😭. Nice one mate 👍😁

It was a little sad watching the GoPro sink when you could clearly see the wakeboarder crash in the background. Hopefully the owners do spot this video in time, we suspect they may have just been visiting Australia and it was possibly in 2019 if the GoPro date was set correctly. Fingers crossed. Cheers mate 😁

It was certainly colder than the aqua golf next door, I attribute that to it being a larger and deeper body of water and also the second dive of the day which always feels colder. I still went diving again the very next day, scuba on that occasion. 😂 Cheers Skye! 😊

Thanks Pam! Hookah diving with devices like the Nemo is so much fun, it gives me a chance to really immerse myself in the underwater world without popping up to breathe (or dealing with scuba tank fills!). Cheers 😊

It was surprisingly comfortable swimming through them, though it did get annoying when they snagged occasionally. Probably more comfortable than open ocean since I knew there wasn’t anything that could bite lurking beneath them. 😂

Glad I was nice and warm while watching this, Brrrr!... What to call a gathering of Nemo's ?.. A Nemonstration, A Nemocracy, Nemoroid's, Nemopoly, But I think a "Finding" might be apt, as it suits the scenario! I can understand why you would like to go back for another hunt there, I think you might have just scraped the edges of that place, Glad you had fun, but did you try wake boarding! I was going to comment that I loved the footage you did at the start going down slowly through the weeds to the bottom, didn't realise the lost gopro did the footage 🤣 Looked like a challenge at the start, first you had to find a signal then find a way to the actual target

When we played back the footage that evening I immediately knew it was going to be part of my intro. 😂 how amazing did that look? I kept looking for patches that weren’t too weedy as I didn’t want entanglement issues with my Nemo, it took a little while to work out where those spots were but then the targets appeared all over the place. Wow when I saw the location I said it will be like shooting fish in a barrel, but when you got in the water and I saw the almost zero visibility and the huge masses of long weeds I said that is tough work indeed , you all deserve the treasures you found , you earned them!

Thanks so much! It was surprisingly calming to dive in those conditions, because there was no scary marine life in these man-made waters. We hunted an aqua golf park on the same day, it is in the recent videos on my channel as well. Cheers :)

Thanks Kevin! You’ll notice that most of the more seasoned underwater hunters forego the gloves - the extra tactile information can be extremely helpful when locating a target, and I would typically wear out glove tips after 2-3 uses in my usual reefs anyway (I’m actually gentler without them!). There are accepted risks of course with this choice - however in this particular location they are very, very low. Cheers 😊

It was a jungle out there!! No gloves typically, the tactile information it provides outweighs the assumed risk in most cases. Each to their own 😊

If you don't mind sharing, what are your recommended GoPro Settings for underwater? I have a Hero 11. I am just trying to learn to film underwater metal detecting.

G'day PC, I wouldn't say I've 100% settled on any magical settings as yet. Because I mostly wear my GoPro on a mask mount, I use wide view instead of Linear (which I use on land) - just in case my camera angle was slightly off centre (tilted ever so slightly forward seems to be the best angle, but it takes a lot of practice!). ISO min 100 max 800. Colour profile - if you're not post-processing it in any way then vibrant can be good, but flat or native if you plan on tweaking colour later. Leave the white balance on auto while learning because if you set it on land and then forget to set it manually for underwater, the footage can look pretty rough! Record at at least 2.7K and 60fps to give yourself flexibility to zoom in and/or slow down the footage smoothly. I have some stabilisation, but not the max setting as that crops the footage down more. Hope that helps :)

O' and wild Nemo's, and Nomads, are usually solitary creatures only gathering in "pods" (they are air breathers, right?) once or twice a year over areas of scattered treasure.🤿🐬🤿
