I went metal detecting in the Golden Triangle (Victorian Goldfields) with my friends Ed & Katelyn from Detect-Ed, as well as my husband Al - and we all came home with some historic coins and relics! We'll explore some preserved gold rush ruins, and take in the sights of this stunning Australian landscape as we go. I'm using the XP Deus 2 metal detector in this adventure.

Hi Mish that was a very interesting hunt by you all. The finds were exciting to the coins and the big buckle . I think my favorite thing to see was the old stone shack as you said really small but cozy. Nice to see your husband Al out with you and your friends Ed & Katelyn. Thanks for the video looking forward to the next one.👍

I'm going to be keeping an eye out for sites like this in future, so I can take viewers on a little tour! There's not too many 'in the wild' in this condition anymore. Some more relic hunts are on the editing pile, so they'll come out in time. Cheers mate :)

How fun to be somewhere that you can find relics like this. Where I live in Florida, unless it's something from the 1715 fleet, there isn't much in the way of relics. Very nice hunt and thanks for bringing us along.

Ironically I'm typically in a similar situation, Marti - where I'm from, there's barely 100yrs of history. I have to travel quite far to get to places like this. Hopefully I can film in batches each time I go and keep that content coming :) Cheers!

Hey, Mish!! I'm a little late getting to the party and have some catching up to do. I see that most of your mystery items have been identified or theories have been tossed around. However, there is no mention of the bright red creepy crawly thing at 12:24 so I got to do a little bit of research myself then. Yes! That little guy is a Giant Red Velvet Mite. Now when people think of mites, they usually think of the tiny 1 mm parasites that get in our clothes, hair and other regions of our bodies and in our homes, but these particular mites are quite the opposite. These little fellows are much bigger; up to 2 cm, and actually eat garden pests, including the parasitic mites, and dangerous spiders. They are very beneficial to have around and some gardeners will use them to protect plants instead of using pesticides. Oh, and they're edible. You know, in case you forget your bag of snacks....8:19. Congrats to Ed on the Chinese coin, and your 1848 British Half Penny!! Awesome! Until your next adventure! Later, my friend!

Hi, Mish. Where did you find the information about the Chinese coin?
@DirtFishMish
@DirtFishMish Жыл бұрын
Hi Susan, sorry for the delayed reply! I use this guide: www.calgarycoin.com/reference/china/chinaid.htm It helps to date the coins based on symbols. There was very little info left on Al's coin however the top symbol had a very unique 'hook' on one end, which proved to be the key identifying factor for it. :)
