I can't say this for all slip casters, but it seems I have an unusual number of incomplete molds...large ones! Why, because they were free! I did not know so many were missing the accessory molds until I started cleaning and cataloging them. Anyway, I hope this gives someone and idea of what to do if they find themselves in a similar situation. If you enjoyed this video, please hit the "like" button and subscribe to my channel. Capt Mike. I have some ceramic molds that are no longer in production and are not owned by an active company. I really like them and don't want to loose the detail by casting from them too much. I want to make a master from the original and then create a new mold to cast from. I don't know what to use to pour in the plaster mold that won't destroy the mold and can be used to create a new mold. Can you make a video on how to create a new master from a plaster mold?

I am working on a couple of ideas right now. Do not pout plaster into your plaster mold. It will stick it together.

You can try to cast some wax into it (I would be sure to do some research), but the general process is to soak the plaster molds until they are saturated then lightly brush the interior of the mold with diluted liquid soap and then pour in your melted wax. You can either let the wax cool enough to create a thick layer and then pour off the excess or just let it all cool. BUT make sure that you don't let the mold dry out before demolding or it will stick to the plaster. You probably don't want to do this process to many times because wetting the mold will cause to wear out quicker. But once you have your wax casting you can use that to make another plaster mold or make a silicone mold (with a rigid mother mold) and cast resin in that so you will always have a master to make new plaster slip cast molds from I'm a prop artisan who molds and casts frequently so if you have any questions I'd be glad to try to help
