Welcome to Winging It 2024. This is Part 4 of our February Stitch Along. In this video we are going to explore 'Fragments of Wisdom' as we try using text in our slow stitch.
Join me at 2.30pm GMT every Sunday for a restful time of slow stitch, embroidery and textile art. Each month we are going to create a complete piece of art that we will create bit by bit each week.
Feel free to follow my design, use my piece as inspiration, or you could use the same techniques as me to create something totally original.
I hope to try lots of new things this year as I create my 2024 stitched journal. I hope you will come along for the ride!

No apology needed. Although I haven"t been a lover of poetry, I am becoming more open to some understanding in my older age. These you shared really spoke to me today still in a grieving state after 15 months. This piece is right up my alley and I would choose some jaunty angles as well.

Thanks so much. Grief is a sneaky beast. It catches you out when you are least expecting it. I am glad the poems helped a little. We only grieve because we have loved. My thoughts are with you. X

Someone will remember us IF we sign/date our work. I am always after women to sing whatever art/craft they do. Don't be anonymous in the future because women's work is important.

I agree. Women's art has been marginalised for centuries. Posting on social media is kind of my way of signing it. It's tricky to get an authentic signature in stitch. I need to find a way.

@@featherstitchhouse OMG, I just saw CT Publishing's vid on the book they came out with that's all about fanny-sayings labels. I then looked up images for 'sassy sayings for labels' and got tons of ideas.

After breakfast I sat down and sketched out my snow drops. I had the time to sit and stitch all day, and I was excited to finish them. They’re not perfect, but that’s ok

What a lovely way to spend the day. Things made by hand are never perfect... that's what makes them beautiful. Enjoy stitching. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone's finished panels.

That's really kind. Thank you so much. Spontaneity is my style really. I like running with a scrap of an idea and seeing where it takes me. I'm glad you are enjoying the process.
