Hi Heidi, I love your channel - so much great info! I had a question - What are your thoughts on combining Frankincense, Myrrh, and turmeric into an oil infusion? I have some skin issues I’m trying to get relief from, and I’ve heard that all three of these have strong healing properties. In your opinion, would it be a good idea to combine all three for one infusion, or use them separately? Also trying to figure out amounts that would be best to use. Thanks!
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas Ай бұрын
That's a great combo! Just keep in mind the turmeric may stain. You can combine them all....or make them separately then combine. That latter way would be the way I would choose, because then you can adjust the amount of turmeric infused oil.

Thank you for the informative video Heidi. If you want to add frankincense essential oil to frankincense infused oil what ratio would you recommend?
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 5 ай бұрын
I can't give you an exact amount because: The dilution you choose is going to depend on a number of factors: how much of the infused oil you're using, the age of the person/animal you're working with, the size of the person/animal, the needs of the person/animal (including constitution) and also what your intention is for the oil. For example, pain relief, grounding/meditation, focus/clarity, mood, skincare, and others..... All of these contribute to determining the number of drops you'll need. I teach aromatherapy in our school, and our new course Aromatherapy level 1 certification is coming out soon! But I address safety and dilution in the Tribe and also in the Ditch the Drugstore course as well.

@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 5 ай бұрын
Hi, NG---- I love solar infusions, to be honest. There's something about the energy of the sun.... BUT no----I wouldn't put it in direct sunlight as you don't want to "cook" your oil. Even in sunny windows, make sure it's an east or west window not a south window, as again, you don't want "cooking." Just a nice gentle warmth....

Can u ingest the acids orally?
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 5 ай бұрын
They're usually extracted in a lab and standardized for capsules. In this way, yes. But I don't recommend powdering the resin and adding it to foods, etc. on your own. Do some research on this....In the meantime, look for good supplements from reputable companies that source from cultivated farms.

Where can I purchase high quality frankinscence ,do you have a company you recommend?
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 5 ай бұрын
Sustainability is HUGE in my opinion, and I really like Aromatics International because Karen and Jenny Williams, who own it now, are very much into caring for the earth as well as providing high quality products. That's where I got that batch of frankincense tears, and it's the best quality I've ever worked with. I can tell it's not harvested using inferior means. I should reach out to them and ask if it's from cultivated Boswellia or wildcrafted....It probably says on the package, but I didn't look. In terms of an endangered plant like frankincense, please choose to go with cultivated if you have a choice. @AromaticsInternational And here's a link for you: bit.ly/AromaInt

You can just let it macerate/steep for several weeks if you don't want to use the crock pot.

Can I use castor oil instead of olive oil?
@HeidiVillegas

It's too viscous, in my opinion, by itself. You could cut the olive oil with it, though.

can this be used in castor oil
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 5 ай бұрын
I wouldn't use castor oil due to its viscosity, but it would be fine to add a bit in at the end or into salves if you're making them. You could experiment with small amounts in the infusion too, say 1:8 castor oil to your carrier oil, for example.

how long does the resin last?
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 5 ай бұрын
Being a resin, if it's stored properly and is of high quality, it might last up to five years or so. And if it gets "older" it's wonderful in incense!

The oil and resin will make a hot mess of your crock pot with the residue.
@HeidiVillegas
@HeidiVillegas 5 ай бұрын
Hi, Geri! If you put the oil directly into the crockpot, it will "cook" the oil, even on the lowest setting, so the double boiler method allows you to manage the gentle heat better. Also---directly in the crockpot, you'd have to use more oil unless you have a tiny crockpot.
