Damn that boson was a trick question. You spent the entire video teaching about AD and then hit me with something I learned a month ago. That is a great way to show critical logical thinking is key when taking these tests.

routes from multiple routing protocols to the *same destination* -> use admin distance multiple routes from the *same routing protocol protocol* -> use metrics if the *same destination* matches multiple routing tables entries -> use most specific match (longest netmark prefix).

*INTERACTIVE LABS ARE BACK IN CCNA 200-301 EXAM* Hi Jeremy, Thank you so much for the amazing work you do. I just passed my CCNA 200-301 today and I honestly could not have done it without your channel. Something I did not realize until a day before my exam is that Cisco announced in July 2022 LABS ARE NOW BACK IN THE CCNA&CCNP EXAMS. I spent about 7 months (without any formal IT experience) prepping for the CCNA which included doing interactive packet tracer labs. However, if I had known labs were going to back in the CCNA I definitely would have changed my study approach in days leading up to my exam date. Thinking the entire exam would be drag/drop, multiple choice, etc... I spent the majority of the 10 days leading up to the exam taking any practice exam (without labs) I could get my hands on, trying to memorize certain port numbers, MAC address's, and solidifying my understanding of networking theories/concepts. To be clear I am glad Cisco reintroduced the lab portion in the CCNA. I just wish I would have known earlier.

For those who have a question why EIGRP or IGRP has a lower administrative distance, it is because those are Cisco proprietary protocol. Even IGRP is obsolete in these days, it has a lower AD than OSPF which is mostly used. I hope it helps you to memorize the metrics.

This made me think that a simple change in the question would totally change the correct answer. For instance, if the destination is 10.20.0.22 for instance, then it would be the EIGRP route. I would be more careful in my future exams.

I didn't think that the B was the correct answer in the Boson question, That was crazy , an indeed makes sense, When the router is selecting the best path between different Routing protocols is important the AD, but when forward the packet is much important the most specific route, that blow mi mind...
@Patrick-iy1rb
@Patrick-iy1rb Жыл бұрын
Hi Jeremy, I would like some clarification on the Boson question. Since you mentioned that AD would only matter if the routes were all exactly the same (same prefix), wouldn't that mean that only the lowest dynamic routing protocol AD would be in the routing table in the first place? Routing table would only consist of static and EIGRP assuming every single route was exactly the same.

How people normally studies for each? what kind of jobs can you get with these?
