20:07. Hell yes! Butter! I so wish I could do an apprenticeship with you, wish I was not 54 and lived in the upper northeast. Your videos are so nice. Not only informative with the capacity to teach people, but they are SO relaxing. I am so glad you are successful and have got your new place. Congrats on everything. Thanks for sharing what you do with all of us. I truly enjoy/appreciate all the work you do to film and publish these videos. P.S. sorry this comment is on an older video that you will never see. Just wanted to thank you for what you do.

Hello Mustie, 2STROKETURBO recommended your channel to his viewers and boy am I glad he did. Good stuff diagnosing everything and getting her running. I just put one an 80cc Chinese 2 stroke a a 29 inch mountain bike. Still breaking her in, but she runs pretty decent and she's a blast to drive.Thanks for sharing

It's incredible, a video where Darren doesn't have to completely disassemble the carb and there's no mouse / critter nests. Good news, a future motorized bicycle video will be entertaining us eventually. Myself, I'd have spiffed it up to sell for more cash to invest in parts for future projects.

Earlier this year a friend of mine aquired a free ChiCom scooter that did not run but was in very good condition otherwise. Instead of diagnosing the problems it had - he simply purchased 4 major critical components. #1- Stator assembly. #2 - complete brand new carburetor. #3 - brand new battery. #4 - brand new voltage regulator. The machine started up after repair like it was on the showroom floor so he does not know what actually fixed it. Total cost of all the parts with shipping was between 67 and 68 dollars. This was back in April or early May and he still has it and it is 100% reliable.

awesome vid. my tao tao 50cc scooter had the same exact engine. fun little Chinese small vehicles. sadly 2 days ago some one stole mine. it was only 2 years old and had only 300 miles on it. took me a whole year to save 800 bucks to buy it was customized as well. another down side insurance wont pay for it. you know you remind me of myself like tinkering with something till it runs again and it always makes me so happy to hear a dead engine come to life again :D found you from amsie btw, cool guy as well.

My experience with these is that they are very cold natured, but once started they run excellent and pull hard. When cold, full choke, full throttle, and a hot battery and they start every time. All of the ones I played with had a CVT in the case, and will move a 200lb adult with authority. The finned box is a regulator, should have 2 or 3 yellow wires going to engine (stator) and output ground + 12v. The potted box is the CDI ignition with two pickup coil wires that go the same place as the stator, a pair for coil output and a kill wire plus 12V.

OF ALL the projects you did I just can't believe you still haven't made a hose from the ceiling with a spring arm construction which connects to exhausts to carry the exhaust fumes outside. Very handy in cold winters. ;-) You know, like the ones they have indoors in garages to hang on to the pipe.

My son has had a couple of those Chinese 4 wheelers. They are horribly bad for the coil going bad in them. Other then that, you can beat them to death and they keep going. Not a bad little rig for the price.
@ericdrisgula38795 жыл бұрын
I just left a comment stating the same thing . I had one they shipped to me with fish oil in the engine block instead of motor oil and didn't figure this out until two years later and that was two years of being pinned at wide open throttle doing laps on my ice track on the lake in my back yard, fun times . Mine was a 125 with a 3 speed clutchless tranny , actually had reverse too. Even when it started smoking due to piston ring wear from rhe fish oil in the block it didn't lose power and kept running for 4 more years until I eventually sold it. Fantastic little machines , and one quarter the price of a Japanese ATV , it's a freaken no brainier if you ask me. I'd buy another in a heartbeat if I was in the market for one definitely . You can whoop these things like they are a slave and they don't skip a beat.

@zx8401ztv7 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right, the long box is the cdi unit, quite typical, looks like an ac type where you have a 200-300 volt feed from the stator and a small pulse coil to make it spark. I would still check the wiring connector on that metal regulator. It did take some starting, i wonder if the compression is a bit crappy. You normally allways get a few pop pops from the plug hole injection of fuel, but that engine seems hard to start :-(

Ok, On the CDI box, usually black square with a GREEN plug. There will be a WHITE with BLACK strip on it, that is the kill switch wire to CDI, you can cut it or disconnect it from the plug, turn motor over and the spark plug should fire... These are 95% AC powered, from the stator so you don't need a battery for them to run. you really only need 5 wires for it to run.

So between ignition switch having 2 broke wires and carb needing major cleaning,,,,Yup,, got it started and it took off from me (yes, not on wheel stand and i was kneeling next to it) and proceeded to watch it do a wheelie and flip end over end. Tryn now what to look at that made it take off like that. Brought idle speed screw down but hasnt been able to really fire since. Good times

The component that has the heat sink is your charging unit. The smooth rectangle one is your CDI and rev limiter. There's a crap load of cheep mods you can do for these engines. I have a Lifan 125cc and it's fantastic! I beat the snot out of it and keeps on going. Maybe you can make a reverse trike three wheeler Can am spider dirt bike thingy? That'd be interesting.

Hey Mustie. Great Video. Heads up on disconnecting the battery after you started the engine. If you had any lights turned on when the battery was disconnected then you would run the risk of burning out the bulbs due to the higher voltage of the system without battery load. I did this exact same thing on a Honda scooter and it knocked out the headlight and taillight at the same time. For anyone wondering why I am bringing this up, remember what the ignition switch looked like? There is NO way to tell whether the lights were turned on or off with that switch. Besides, headlight bulbs for bikes ain't cheap !
@mykel96995 жыл бұрын
Needs to be open circuit. It's quite common for the coils to fail on these and the wiring isn't good, so if you play around with these it's a good idea to remake the entire wiring loom with good quality wire

new plastics add value to these and makes them real easy to sell...I would go so far you can double your asking price...The plastics are dirt cheap from China ..I bought a 125 Lifan pit bike for 100 and spent 44 bucks on plastic, replaced a cable,lever and chain(which I had in spare parts) and sold it for 575

Cool project. Unsolicited tip of the day suck bang blow in that order. Did u check the compression..? You did awesome troubleshooting that run/stop switch issue. Well done. 4-5 seconds on the starter. Those like to overheat their components and then poof all the magic smoke is released. Also unless ur looking to bend a rod or oval out your main bearings I would never dump non atomized fuel into the spark plug or carb. .
