I bet a lot of people look at getting a new mower when it dosn't cut properly if they do not get it serviced, I'm saving this vid invaluable how to sharpen a blade and balancing if your a novice like me. Thanks for the extra head content 👍

Primarily watch your mower videos, but your automotive vids are also entertaining. good for you for compensating the lady for her gift. i was surprised to see a Taryl sticker on your wall of fame. he is one of my favorites on this continent. just after i saw his sticker on your shop wall, he mentioned you and mick of mick's mowers. it seems taryl holds you in high regard also. my apology. he mentioned mick and pete in his recent video about rebuilding a 4 hp briggs horizontal basket case. i did respond to that video, and told him that i had seen his sticker on your wall of fame. some of my favorites on this side of the pond include donyboy73, steves small engine saloon, and bruce pender. all very nice guys and very knowledgeable and easy to learn from. once again, my sincere apology. my wife says i keep my foot in my mouth too much. i'm beginning to believe it may be true. my toes are becoming a little wrinkled.

The blade edge has to "scoop" or ramp/lift grass to cut. That's how I remember. If you put the blade on upside down, all that will do is smash grass into the yard.

Keep meaning to get some of that jb weld stuff. Don't need it but you never know... just put a lotto ticket in the letter box for the lady, some people would prefer that and a thank you card would be a nice touch.

Very nice video ! I was servicing a 5 hp tecumseh yesterday, started it up after, it ran for a couple min. and died. Now it feels like there’s no compression. I’m thinking a piece of carbon broke off and jammed up the intake valve. Looks like I will be decarboning the head today. Thanks, Martin ! 👍

Update: when I pulled the head I found a screw jammed in the intake valve. Screw holding the throttle plate came loose and got sucked in. Crazy, eh !

My grandmother bought a Murray push mower I growled on the inside it’s her money I knew she wasted her money. They don’t have replacement handles. Sure enough from the weight of the mower fatigued the handle above the mower deck started with two piece tear plus it was going through oil. Not smoking then who knows. Sure enough it couldn’t support the deck tore into. Who in right mind put a crimp as part of the manufacturing for a handle. Even if a big box store carries any type of mower get ones in mid range as far decks never ever plastic get snapper those last over ten years with proper maintenance. The bad with this plastic deck is if you catch a rock somewhere somebody or something is getting broke or beaned. I’d chunk the deck use the engine and blade and wheels as spares. Rock will go through the deck

I always disrespected Tecumseh. But now i miss them. they are hardy engines. and most of the last of them had full pressure oil lubrication.

This is good motor with pressurized lubrication. If you don't mow half - meter overgrown grass it will run up to 20 years.

What Tecumseh engine is it? I wouldn't use SeaFoam as it's a con. The blue smoke it gives off is actually the "oil" they put into the stuff to make you believe that it works!! A good way to clean off carbon is to use Oven Cleaner to help break down the deposits. I have used this too in car engines, Turbos, etc etc

The dust wouldn't go into the fuel jets, it would get sucked straight into the engine.

I think that a lot of the carbon found in these lawn mowers is from burning old gas with low octane .

I realize it's a used mower, but with a plastic deck like that, why not wipe down the dirt/debris from the underside of the deck? Wouldn't that help the sale so to speak?

I don't know who sent the item because there was no note in with it. I get over 100 emails every day, I answer many comments over 4 KZfaq channels, If there is no note or email, How am I supposed to make a not of a name. You may have noticed that I gave Richard thanks as he left his name for the item he sent (JB weld). Now, get a grip and don't put such a stupid comment. Do you think I am not aware of not mentioning the person's name? It has happened in the past and when the person sees the video, they normally contact me and I thank them personally but you wouldn't know that, instead, you feel the need to give me your personal opinion which I don't think I really need as you are not in full possession of the facts.
