Rusted Old Honda Izy Deck Get's Welded And Powder Coated

This old Honda Izy lawn Mower deck was very rusty and also developed a hole. I stripped it and welded the hole before I powder coated it with my Electrostatic Magic Easycoat Powder Coating system. Let's see how it turned out.

One thing you could try, for isolated pin holes or light repairs on steel, is brazing with brass and a borax flux.. You can do this with a propane torch. This might not work if you powder coat, I don't know.

You can do a lot of damage to your part trying to get them Lumiweld rods to work. In future Martin use a small piece of copper behind the hole, weld won't stick to it and it'll act as a great heatsink thus preventing any holes getting bigger or blowing out.

I've tried brazing before but failed miserably as i don't think i got the metal hot enough that time. The pin holes you welded up look great and you can't tell they were even there.

I have seen them advertised Martin cheers. For the test now I won't buy them as you showed me they don't work nice neet job with the welder. Looks good Martin nice one good job been on hoilday this week only came back yesterday afternoon. It was nice to get away for a while.👍

Great video Martin. Deck turned out great, not to worry about a few ripples here and there, because when its rebuilt it will look like its out of the box. Another one turned around and nearly ready for sale. Cheers, Jeff.

A nice looking mower deck I really like the colour and the graphics I am looking forward to seeing the finished article I know it will look great , you always do a good job. Nice work brother! Came out lookin slick! you got the best music in ur vids too lol. Never tried those lumiweld rods tho i have heard of em. I usually try to oxy/acetylene weld lil holes like that and i find if u put a piece of aluminum or stainless behind lil holes like that it keeps the weld from blowin out bigger holes. They sell little kits at harbor freight here in america but u can get em on ebay if u care to give it a try. Again, thanks for sharin martin. Appreciate the time u take to make these vids.

Nice one Martin, like the powder coating job. Like you I've never had much luck with those aluminium brazing rods, I think there's a lot of false advertising with these things.

Hi Martin hope your well mate, what compressor and sandblasting cabinet would you recommend for a beginner domestic use on car parts ?

As bug a compressor as you can get. Mine is 150 liter but I was using a 90 liter before. All cabinets are pretty much the same, You can get a table top one or a free standing one like mine. whatever you choose, make sure you have an extract system set up. I use a shop vac with a dust trap. I did a video on my set up.
