A well known Honda Ruckus tuning company known as JC Racing first introduced the idea of lightening the alternator/flywheel. At nearly 950 grams, this piece spins up to 10,000RPM on the Honda GET 50cc motor. Reducing the rotating mass on the motor has many benefits, specifically while accelerating and decelerating. One of the biggest weakness of the 4 stroke 50cc motor is the lack of power. Acceleration on the Honda Ruckus/Jazz/Metropolitan leaves much to be desired. I was fortunate enough to have a friend reduce and rebalance the weight of the flywheel for me on his metal lathe. The results were astounding. this flywheel works great, my ruckus still idles fine with a lil adjustment on the screw and doing a master ecm/ecu restart for the throttle position sensor. i defiantly noticed a difference in acceleration, thanks for the quick reply's

Can someone help me how the hell can I not find any already modded fly wheels for the 50 I have a GY6 and turned it into a 90 but I see that they have an already married part for the 150 but they Harley never have anything for the 50 they’re just so hard to fine performance parts for the 50 it’s like you have to do serious digging to find serious parts to mind your 50 out but there’s so many modification parts for the bigger one why is that? Huh

+uploadmeful No, I wasn't able to get a clip but the flywheel was balanced after lightening to ensure minimal vibration/crank bearing wear

It was a JDM piece by kijima for the honda dio/zoomer many years ago. But it has been replicated by many companies now and you could probably find one on ebay for cheap.

I'm pretty sure the deceleration on the scooter would get shittier? and you would lose a lil bit of tourqe?

Good questions. Could you clarify what you mean when the deceleration becomes "shiitier"? Depending on how much weight you remove, lightening flywheels too much may results in poor idling consistency and difficulty in maintaining max speed. Here, the removal is quite conservative so none of those symptoms were observed! Hope that helps.

Never use a steering wheel puller like that!! You can easily bend the flywheel!! Also you can pull out the threads. and can damage the charging coils when you put the bolts thru the fan holes. Buy the right tool for its job...

That is not a steering wheel puller. It is specifically called a flywheel puller. What is the proper tool you're referring to instead?

IT IS THE RIGHT TOOL FOR THE JOB.. though your right about messing up the stator, and bending the flywheel. One thing to consider hes not working on a gy6, its a honda nps50, gy6 flywheel tool dont apply here, bc the center is not threaded for a screw in puller. Nps50 flywheel is thick and strong enough to be pulled by bolt holes. Which is the right way you pull it on these engines, he knows what hes doing, relax. Dont be so quick to call someone out unless you 100% know what theyre doing..btw thats not a steering wheel puller, its too big.. steering wheel puller looks like that but is smaller. Remember not everyone has a gy6, and not all scooter engines are designed the same.. and never, never forget, the gy6 did not originate from honda, no honda product ever in history came equipped with a gy6 engine, "gy6 is a honda" is a myth.

So do you know a lot about Moding out your stater and fly will the Ncy performance one if you buy that it will mess up other benefits as well right like you have bad charging system and most likely you’re peak mph Will go down for lightening your state or in fly will so you go a lot slower but have higher acceleration that’s how it works because if that’s the case I would just stick with my stock fly will in stater there’s no need to buy performance one because I already put a 90 kit and it should already accelerate pretty fast if you ask me 😞 this performance stuff is so difficult for the scooters because when you put a lot of this performance crap in your bike it messes it up with the other benefits you have it’s not like modenn Out your car which you do modifications it won’t hurt anything pretty much you get both of both worlds but I guess that’s the price you pay when you modify scooters

Does having a lighten flywheel on a ruckus makes the bike lose torque? And does jcracing sell these flywheel prebalanced ? I would like to purchase one of these

Link to the lightened flywheel in the description! A lightened flywheel gives much better engine response at the cost of less stability. For example, your idle speed will be lopey unless you increase the idle speed.

you should notice a huge difference with a lightened fly wheel. judging by the video you didnt take much F.W. speaking from experience I noticed a big difference.

+Davin Link Check the link in the description for more details. The "industry standard" is to reduce the flywheel to approximately 850g. I took it down to 840g. Like you said, there was a noticeable difference at idle and during acceleration. However, be aware that a lightened flywheel will hurt peak hp (ie. top speed) which the 50cc Ruckus so desperately needs.... so the benefits do come with sacrifice. I ended up putting back the stock flywheel and opted for slightly lower slider weights to achieve the best of both worlds.

Me too. When I kicked my bike over the cliff. Haha jokes. Good job. Not doubting you at all as I've seen those claims before. For me, however, it matters more how fast I get from 0-50mph to keep up with traffic. With the way my bike is setup right now it shoots straight up to 8700RPM right away and bolts to 45mph immediately. (in ruckus terms of course). I have no problem leaving "normal" traffic behind anymore

FIFTYmil I know this is old... a lightened flywheel will have very little to no affect on the stop speed! If anything it will make it easier to reach that speed... your flywheel is there for rotational help usually on hills and during stop start traffic...

Faster top speed, not really but this mod is more about throttle response which particularly useful for more responsive accel/decel

wait... is this the same bike you upgraded last time? i cant believe its watercooled! and such an ingenius design placing a fan over the flywheel to suck air over the radiator! thats awesome! so take back my advice on the air cooled engine thing. this seems its water cooled so you are okay on the upgraded heat part.

Wilco Muurling No Wilco this is a 49cc Honda ruckus/zoomer. Great design yes but the engine lacks power. More ingenius is the lack of a starter motor. It uses the stator as a starter!

actually thats a logical thing to do. the difference between a generator or an electrical engine, is the power throughput. only thing is, the stator as a starter engine, it could lack power. but if it works it works! but also means that if you use the starter during your ride, you actually gain a little bit of power, sort of hybrid vehicle... you push the flywheel along just a tiny bit. that would be amazing if it actually works.

Wilco Muurling never thought about that. Both a great yet comical idea in full race mode. The starter needs the brakes activated in order to work but that's something that could be bypassed I'm sure!

n oyou dont need to use the brakes to engage the starter, you need the brake ''lights'' to start the engine. usually the break lights turn on before the brakes are actually applied. so gently pull in the brake lever, so the brake like comes on, and then press the starter. i always start my bike like that, just slightly pulling in the brake lever. only the brake light needs to come on to complete the starter circuit.

@arsewank chivze LOL. Fair enough. On the bright side this mod doesn't make your scooter significantly better. I'd just leave it stock if I didn't have access to a lathe to mess around.

Of all these 18 faster scooter mods which ones can I do to a stock gy6 china 150 scooter that does not require tools like a lathe just normal hand tools, or to buy expensive parts? I wanna get as much extra performance for free before I start adding paid for parts like variator rollers or new clutch.

I thought I wanted to start modding my bike as a first time rider.. you know soaking up all these mod videos but I got the scooter and it's a P model.. 1P57QMJ and that means it's got a larger head or something and has more performance than other stock non P models so acceleration is Great and it will do 60 so I'll wait a while before I need to mod it. The drawback with the P models are they don't have that many mods out there for them unless you change both the head and the cylinder so choices on larger bore upgrades are limited but I can live with that.. there are still plenty of ways to mod them when I need to.

That's exactly it. I was quite conservative with the approach because too light of a flywheel could do more bad than good for an engine, especially a small 50cc 4 stroke.

@@pauloconnor7951 Yes but marginal. While it was an interesting lesson, in hindsight I believe there is not much significant gains to be made considering the amount of work it took unless you're striving for every single drop of performance from this engine.

Nice! You take some your low rpm torque off. That's stupid. Scooter has variator and now your scooter take speed slower

no you dont lose low end torque, if anything you gain it. because the lighter flywheel can spin up quicker and faster, being a cvt that equals faster acceleration and top end, no loss

Less rotational mass I won’t say adds power because your simply freeing up power you already had that was being robbed by additional weight so less weight = more power best way I can describe it
