How true it is! And a Pimax crystal will be delivered any day now, so I'm hopeful for an improvement over my G2.
@rbarlow
@rbarlow 8 ай бұрын
@@donc9751you should love the Crystal. The sweet spot is much larger and the resolution is as good as the Aero. As long as your computer can handle it you will have a serious upgrade.

I've been running the G2 since it launched. Thinking of upgrading to the new big screen VR set. Seems like it is leaps over the G2 and barely bigger than a pair of glasses

@srbarlow Thank you for the info! That's my concern as well. My PC (2 years old now) specs are i7-10700K, 32gb ram, 4080 and nvme drives. Not top specs but I'm thinking even if it won't be able to max out settings and get high fps, even scaled down some it has to be way better than what I've been seeing thru my G2. My cpu I think will be the limiting factor but I'll know soon enough.

Nice Job Russ, thanks for taking the time. You're the first reviewer I've seen to correctly explain the Condition Levers. I'm a retired Marine with about 3,000 hours in the OV-10A and a Vietnam tour in the YOV-10D NOGS. The USN/USMC cockpit it just a little different. We had a smaller fire warning light but no fire bottles hence no Engine Fire Handle to pull. We didn't have VHF Com or VHF Nav. There was a Radar Altimeter in the place of the ILS head.

I appreciate that. I remember wgen I got assigned to the OV-10 feeling sorry for myself but in retrospect it was a great experience. Of course I was in Germany and not Vietnam. Thanks for your service in harms way... I had a cush job.

You must have been in the Delta VI Corp AO during your VN tour. The UASF's Broncos were primarily in the central II Corp AO and the I Corp AO. Thank you for your service.

Thanks much Sir, excellent rundown! Somewhat familiar with aircraft; Da Nang, Vietnam F-4C,D,E & HQ USAF Ramstein AB as command propulsion MSET person. Very impressive acft, watched them workout first hand at Da Nang, we appreciated what they did. Love flying in VR, what a view! Thanks again, nothing like real pilot review. Byway, was on board USAF Commander’s acft right after F4 mishap you talked about, we made two passes to review mishap.

Great video Russ! A few years after you arrived in Germany, I arrived at my first assignment as a FAC in Alaska. Flew the O-2 then the squadron (25 TASS) converted to OVs. Yes, I was one of those first assignment FACs you spoke of 😃 Everything you said about the FAC assignment was spot on. The best time I ever had in my 40 years of flying!

Russ, this was a fun trip down memory lane. Your picture suggests you've little changed since '80. I'm gobsmacked by the realism, true to experience, both inside the aircraft and outside. So real you've probably gotten some virtual noise complaints from villagers in Otterberg. We were just visiting Sembach three months ago and the flight line is as depicted. Thanks for this flashback; well done.

Hope you and Pam are well. Great to hear from you. I shared this video with Greg Brooks who found me on KZfaq. Never thought of sharing it with old squadron mates. Guess I felt a bit embarrassed that after a 23000+ hr flying career I still have fun playing with home flight simulation.

Love your post and history Russ. I visited Germany in 85 as a Grunt. (Australian Grunt) I wonder how close our paths may have crossed. I transferred to Aircraft Fitter (mechanic) and these were my best times. There's truly nothing like military aircraft. I did get the check UH-1H Collective, Cyclic and pedals for vibration more than once. When I see your vids I truly get the urge for MSFS, I just need my son to help me with that one. Cheers Russ, stay safe.

Hi. Thank you for your amazing video and your service. I always wanted to fly this plane when I was young. but by the time I joined the Navy, they were transferred to the Marines. I wanted to also point out that your video was just the right length and touched all the important points to discuss about this MSFS add on with the added benefit of having you an actual "Bronco" pilot simulate a real typical flight. I too thanks the developers for doing a great job and hope they listen to your suggestions to make a great product awesome.

I neglected to say in the review that I had to decrease the pitch control sensitivity to about half to make it fly fairly accurately. The eve Atkin was way too touchy using my Honeycomb Bravo.

Thanks for sharing your insight into this really cool aircraft. As a Marine I saw guys falling out the back of them as they came low and pulled up while guys fell out the back. I was told there was no need for a reserve chute. On a sim thought, didn't another developer AzurePoly have an OV-10 in dev? In the sneak peek they show the sponsions that you said were missing from this offering. Just a thought as I have been waiting for a Bronco to escape the corral. Thanks again Russ!

Nice video and stories. Curious about the power and condition levers, are there any detents or lift mechanisms for the shutoff, reverse positions to avoid engage by accident? For example, in the C208 Caravan, we have to lift the fingerlift in order to get into the beta range, and detents for feathering and cutoff too which are similar to those on the flaps.

Hey Russ, kinda off topic. I recently upgraded to XP12 and after a few adjustments was running at around 32FPS. I loaded up Air Manager Beta, got all that working with a couple of touch screens(seperate networked computer) but I lost 10-12 FPM. I can uncheck the Air Plugin in the plugin manager and instantly get back the FPM's. Your thoughts? Thanks

HI Russ and greetings from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Just an observation…and I’d appreciate your take on this, but it seams like there is way more attention to MSFS than XP12…at least from what I can see on KZfaq. As a retired full scale commercial pilot myself, I’ve “grown up” on XP given the ‘assumption’ that the flight modeling is more attentive to full scale realism vs pretty scenery. Therefore my question: Should I abandon my loyalty to XP and purchase and ‘fly’ MSFS to experience what it has to offer over XP? Appreciate your thoughts…and thank you for your contributions to our flight sim community. Best, Randy
