Once again Shawn you inspire me to pick up my Strat, close my eyes, and turn it up like I was 12 years old all over again.

Literally just got one. It goes with the Friedman amp in a way no other light overdrive does. It retains the sound of the amp and pushes it into more distortion.

Hmmm you still rocking it ?? I'm debating on either this or the Dirty Shirley pedal Thanks

this might actually be a Friedman product that I will buy

Thanks again for a great demo Shawn. This a sophisticated crunch box for low - mid gain saturation with multiple stage clipping. I'd use it more for rhythm boosting & potentially - an always 'ON' rock box

Yes with a Dirty Shirley on top for lead work Instant Montrose

I own one, and it is the “More” Pedal. It is the most neutral tone wise pedal I have.

Great solos (as always!) but some really fresh voicings on what could have been quite a straightforward progression. Most Excellent!!

I put on my gold lamme suit and did the jive to that opening track. It was like Travolta meets Elvis and it was just awesome.

You know Shawn, when ever I need to know how a pedal sounds, I hope you have done a demo of it, because, there is no one that plays or showcases a pedal, amp or guitar like you..
@ShawnTubbs5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much, that means a lot!

looks very similiar to my rockbox boiling point. great playing.
@joerobinson61995 жыл бұрын
Stephen Chow the swirly paint original or the newer version? Do u mean it also sounds like it? Because the boiling point is like a plexi pedal.
@x7stringinJSCx5 жыл бұрын
This pedal is basically a Tube Screamer with better tone and more cool options. Love it. Great demo as always.
@joerobinson61995 жыл бұрын
x7stringinJSCx I don’t think it colors the amp as much as a tube screamer.
@rakusin5 жыл бұрын
I think it's more in the Bluesbreaker family, like Morning Glory, Pantheon and Prince of Tone.
@paulcowart31742 жыл бұрын
For metal players who use a TS with the drive all the way down to tighten the amp up This would be a perfect "THAT" pedal IMO
@marcogman89055 жыл бұрын
Your shirt reminds of the movie "Breaking away". Great video as always. Side note: It would be nice to know what you're working on - gigs, tours, studio, etc... Take care and God bless.

Give Mr. Tubbs a pedal and he will sqeeze all the juice out of it. Great (classic) rocktones you pulled off. I noticed the pedal makes the sound rounder and a tad darker using it in front of the Dirty Shirley.
@paulcowart31742 жыл бұрын
Near perfect tone when running a Dirty Shirley w the Golden Pearl on top Unfortunately I went with the Tone King Gremlin head which I love but the power tranny tanked after several months but only 25 to 30 hour's max of actual playing time So going through the warranty process as we chat Still might get a DS at some point Disappointed w new stuff so will see But was wondering w my Princeton which would be better for me GP or DS pedal I use an 808 got the SRV type strat tones but looking to add a pedal for Montrose type strat and LP tones Thanks man
@truthninja71155 жыл бұрын
Chock full of golden pearly goodness (just like mother used to make)
@paulcowart31742 жыл бұрын
So another question Do you prefer the DS pedal when not using DS amp I'm considering the DS pedal for my dirtiest tones (Montrose) American style amp as well with only a single tone control So I'm liking the EQ options on the DS pedal Good thing you got an early DS amp Going through a warranty repair with Boutique Amp Distributers and the communication on their side has been sub par Hey thanks man Stellar demo per ST
@TsiratiugZ5 жыл бұрын
Man, I wish I could pull off something like the lick starting at 1:27. I wouldn't even know where to start.
@Stashmanfpv2 жыл бұрын
Would’ve luv’d to hear some Humbuckers through the GP…. You’re playing is great, but still would’ve liked to hear some “Bucker” thorough the pedal. Best! ✌🏼
@Randomly_Ruli5 жыл бұрын
Great video and killer tones. Your videos are definitely a cut above the rest. How would you compare this to the Seymour Duncan 805?
@ShawnTubbs5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. I'm unfamiliar with the SD 805.
@paulcowart31742 жыл бұрын
I think the 805 is more of a TS type pedal This doesn't have the TS mid hump
@dukey5585 жыл бұрын
Would you tell us any thoughts on between the kind of middle boosts such as TS808 and this one Golden Pearl?
@ShawnTubbs5 жыл бұрын
The GP is doesn't impose as much of its own tonality to the front end of an amp as a TS808. The 808 adds a signature mid presence.

Hi Shawn! My birthday is coming up and I'm thinking of getting this pedal. Just want to ask if there is a reason why you did not demo as well with an LP ? I do have a Strat however I rock out more using the LP. Is, for example, it a dark sounding pedal which when paired with humbuckers over all a too dark combination?
@ShawnTubbs4 жыл бұрын
I didn't and still don't own a Les Paul. I'm able to borrow one on occasion. The PRS MC 58 in the intro song is about as close as you can get to an LP tone. I personally believe that the Golden Pearl has enough top end for Humbucker pickups whether they be in an LP, 335, PRS, SG, etc. Thanks for watching and happy birthday!

@@ShawnTubbs Much obliged, Shawn.

nice video, are you using the OX amp we can see behind you ? if yes what setting ? thanks
@ShawnTubbs5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. Yes I used the OX.

Sorry, I forgot to mention the setting. I used the "Punch" 4x12 cab with a 121/57 mic combo.

Nice pedal, great playing (as ever), but one of the Srirley's tube is crying for a replacement. ;)
@ShawnTubbs5 жыл бұрын
Thanks! I think you're hearing my Strat strings ringing behind the nut when I play loud higher gain sounds. The trem springs also ring and it can certainly present like a microphonic preamp tube.
@SSvebor5 жыл бұрын
My bad, you've accidentally played a harmonic with your muting hand, and I've mistaken that for a microphonic tube.

Is this pedal a good choice in front of AC15/AC30? Thank You!

Hey guys! Let's build a hot rodded Klone without actually calling or referring to it as a Klone . . . . . . . . I don't have a problem with Klones and quite love them, but nothing wrong with being errr 'transparent' about your pedal design, lol
