If you've been trying to learn frogstand to handstand and struggling with it, rest assured you've found the right video to help you. In this video I not only provide detailed instructions on how to achieve this advanced calisthenics skill, but I also go through 3 important prerequisites: (1) frogstand (pretty obvious), (2) handstand (yes, you should already have a handstand) and (3) awareness of shoulder impingement symptoms, just in case!
If you haven't learned a handstand yet or are still learning handstand, I highly encourage you to wait on pursuing this skill until your handstand is solid. The reason why is that handstand is the destination of this transition. So how can you expect to reach a destination without knowing what it is? By first learning the handstand, you will have a clear understanding of the neuromuscular destination you're heading towards. This makes connecting frogstand to handstand much more achievable, and the progressions I show in this video will help you accomplish it.
The progressions I show are broken down into phases. In each phase you have a skill and a strength exercise to work on. I recommend doing each 3x a week for starters and seeing how that goes. If it feels like too much? Ease up to 2x a week. But in my experience, training this
I hope this helps you achieve this amazing calisthenics skill. It really is a fun way to enter into handstand and VERY impressive to show off with.
Let me know in the comments if you have any questions or requests!
Happy training :)
-Ryan

Thank you so much for the tutorial, I want to share my personal experience. I have achieved the frog-stand to handstand finally, it’s not easy it took 4,5 months to achieve it. I could achieve it earlier but I harmed my shoulders by exercising 5 days a week it made my progression slower. Then I started to work on it twice to three times a week, now thank god I’m able to do the transition. My advice to everyone is to don’t hurry up and injure yourself just enjoy the journey ❤

It was posture problems that lead me down this path to begin with. Basic home workouts with some simple correction exercises, into powerlifting, then bodybuilding, now calisthentics as a result of a ligament tear. Its been an interesting journey developed because of rounded shoulders, backward tilting hips and forward leaning neck lol

@donkeyking2690 5 жыл бұрын
I have been trying it for 5 months and now I can hold it for 30 sec. BUT my problem is I cant hold it straight after kipping, still progressing tho. I personally recommend u to practice back to wall handstand, stomach to wall handstand, wall walks. Try to get the technique first and then work for the strength and endurance.
@MinusTheGym
@MinusTheGym 5 жыл бұрын
Addy I like Donkey King's advice. And aside from my handstand balance training video, you might also benefit from my handstand straightening video too. It all boils down to 3 cues: (1) pushing into the ground from your serratus to elevate the scapula, (2) gently squeezing your abs and glutes to tilt the pelvis posteriorly, and (3) flexing the quads and calves to stabilize the legs. Practice those 3 things (a lot) upside down against the wall and then you'll be able to hold it freestanding much easier.

Yeah me too but im about to get it done ( i got it a couple of times but im still perfecting it) don't worry the pain in the arms will go away after like 2 weeks of training bcz ur legs will not keep their whole weight there. They will be lighter bcz ur push strength is gonna keep bringing them up. Btw i have been filming my progression and im gonna be posting it when i perfect it so sub to my channel if u wanna see my journey ❤❤. Hope u get it as well man.

Hey man, i know what you mean. It means you put your knees to high. Your knees need to be put 'on' the bone of your elbows, not on the squishy part of your triceps. When you put it on the bone part you will have much better balance aswell.

I can press myself up from frogstand but I can’t hold the handstand! What should I do?
@MinusTheGym
@MinusTheGym 3 жыл бұрын
Complex concept are you able to hold a solid handstand without pressing up from frogstand? If not, I recommend learning handstand using a wall and kick ups first. When you are comfortable with the handstand then you know your destination and it’s easier to land after pressing up from frog stand. If you can already hold a handstand but are struggling with landing it when pressing up, my advice is to press up rather fast and try to lock out full body tension as quickly as possible at the top. Also, since the press up is purely concentric (there’s no negative on frogstand to handstand) you can practice this quite a lot without getting too sore, so keep that mind too.
@LateNightChess
@LateNightChess 3 жыл бұрын
Minus The Gym I’ve been practicing handstand. Sometimes i can hold it for 6-10 seconds, but not consistently. It’s frustrating. Also, i can press myself up from frogstand but it takes a big toll from my shoulders. So my shoulders get really sore after the first two tries. I just started implementing wall walk ups and serratus presses to my training.
