On January 29, 2013 while keeping any eye on his two little kids ... Thunderbird 6 (2012), Capt. Blaine Jones tells his unique story about when and why he joined the Air Force along with scenes of his flying career. His story, he would tell you, is proof you can do whatever you want to do.

I was in the RAF and based at Coltishall flying Jaguars. We had a guy on the squadron who used to be a bricky in Newcastle. One day in the rain on a building site he looked up and saw some jets fly over and said 'I could do that if I wanted to.' His mates laughed at him, so on his day off he went into the recruiting office and was sent for officer and aircrew selection. He passed and ended up on single seat fighters. And only the best went on them. So yes with the self motivation and belief anything is possible. I did it to put two fingers up to everyone who put me down and slagged me off

sir how much should we study to be a pilot in military?
@abunchofiguanaswithinterne2186
@abunchofiguanaswithinterne2186 2 жыл бұрын
@@shishirkc387 It's not about reaching the minimum amount of required study, which of course exists when it comes to grades and such. It's about how much you're willing to push yourself in the every day to better yourself. Example: you finish your Homework and it felt easy? It means you weren't pushing yourself enough so you should take more advanced classes or study more topics. You finished your workout and you're not tired? It wasn't a workout, it was just a warmup, do more. Every day, every hour, and every minute should be dedicated to bettering yourself, to the point that if you're not bettering yourself in this moment, you would feel sick in your stomach. Good luck and best wishes man, never forget how much you want your goals, see you up there.

For anyone watching, the chances of this actually happening to you are extremely slim to none. Someone with a background in food science to F-22 pilot the next is unheard of. This is obviously some kind of recruitment video. Anything can happen but keep that in mind.
@sebastianbeaussier6197
@sebastianbeaussier6197 3 жыл бұрын
People commission and get rated as pilots in the AF and Navy coming from all kinds of college majors and work experience. And at all ages, esp. now that the age limit for pilots is 32 by date of UPT entrance for both services. Once in flight training only present performance matters, what degree you did or your age or commission path have no relevance, only your flying ability and work ethic. A guy with good gpa in his food science degree, good afoqt scores, good letters of rec, c.6 years of managerial work experience is very likely to get selected at the board and then onwards has just as much chance of getting tracked to T38s and then getting F22s as anyone else.

Very Inspirational! I'm currently going on 26 years of age and I'm still in pursuit. I was nominated for the USAF Academy at 18, did AFROTC at 22, graduated USF at 24, recently graduated from a Florida Law Enforcement Academy, logged quite a few private flight hours and volunteer community service hours, and have spotless civil involvements and driving history. Yet, I am still not a commissioned officer in any of the services and still not selected to attend a military flight school.
@usafa2000
@usafa2000 10 жыл бұрын
Ok you got a nomination but that's not an appointment. You did ROTC but did you make it to the POC phase? How did you do on the AFOQT? I'm guessing not very well. Hard work and determination is all well and good but luck and genetics is a factor. There comes a point where you have to admit to yourself that something is out of your reach and refocus your life towards more achievable goals.
@dusty_five_2
@dusty_five_2 10 жыл бұрын
usafa2000 AFROTC were selecting cadets with 3.5 GPA and above. Its amazing how some of them get POC slots when they couldn't march or drill properly, on top of that 0 flight hours. I have 165 college credits and 3.1 GPA in engineering and criminology. Didn't get a chance to take the AFOQT. KZfaq search: Bern F-16, I taught myself the avionics of the F-16; you don't have to be a genious. AFOQT is not very relevant, it's a test of basic math, science, and English. However, I did take the Navy officer exam ASTB and got 7s and 50s (pilot/aviator rating). What's your point?

lance lusung Check out this KZfaq VIDEO " INTRO TO BECOMING A FIGHTER PILOT part 1 " By ED RUSH . Also look up " How to become a Military pilot " on google and you'll find the basic requirements there : OCS (Officer Candidate School if you already have a Four year degree ) , ROTC in college with or without a college scholarship , or one of the military academies ( i.e. the air force /naval academy ) . There are some exemptions for Warrant officers that are enlisted without a 4yr degree but I don't know what the rules are for that one . And yes I believe that you can major in any subject in college but it will probably only benefit you to get your math / science scores up as much as you can. But I 'm not really sure if it's a deal- breaker so to speak. Hope that this helps : )

Not sure how you got accepted by the Air Force for a pilot slot at 28! Right place, right time, I guess! I had 4 years as a USMC enlisted KC-130 Navigator (honorable discharge), had my pilot license and an aviation degree from San Jose State when I was 27 ... back in the 90's. Air Force told me I was too old. Same with Navy and USMC. Stupid me, I was too proud to fly helicopters in the Army.

Mr Gomoll, that comment is both uncalled for and bigoted. Whilst you live in a democracy with freedom of speech, remember that it comes with responsibilities. Israel has every right to exist and more importantly has the right to peacefully co-exist with it's neighbouring countries. It's a shame that the people who constantly put Israel down don't look at the countries surrounding it and how the manipulate people like you to believing Israel is the devil incarnate. When are you going to critisise the terrorists that murder in the name of god?
