Judge Mathis

Judge Mathis

Жыл бұрын

The plaintiff says when he was younger, he was a drug dealer and nearly lost his life. After turning his life around, he became a pastor in Orlando. He is suing his son’s ex-girlfriend for a bail bond plus interest after he bonded out the defendant’s son from jail. The defendant has two grown sons with the plaintiff’s son and raised them as a single mother. She admits the plaintiff did bond out her son from jail, but she feels he should sue her son for the money since he’s a grown adult.

I disagree with the judge's ruling. The woman called him asking for the $$ & agreed to pay him back. That is a VERBAL CONTRACT. He gave her more than adequate time to pay, but she had already made up in her mind, probably as she was on the phone asking for the money, that she had NO INTENTION OF PAYING A DIME OF IT BACK!! I think the judge blew this 1 just because the plaintiff was a man of the cloth & thinking he should turn the other cheek!!

He should sue the person who borrowed the money. There are probably a lot of people on this show who borrow money to help another adult…be it their friend, sibling, spouse or parent. I get everyone's points. I think that if you're in jail, you should pay back those monies paid for your life betterment. I feel like if you ask for the money to help someone get out of jail, you're on the hook also because you want this to happen. Also, if you're a minister, and a woman is taking care of her sons without help, you could have at least done half.

The fact that this "Pastor" charged interest on a loan intended to help his own grandchild tells me all I need to know. 🙄 That and his claim of wanting to help others change their lives but is hesitant to admit that he was a drug dealer. 😒

I agree with the judge this time. This pastor needs to be checked. Not only is he unjust by not holding his son accountable and the grandson but he’s greedy as hell charging her interests like he’s going to report that interest income to the IRS. Shame on him.

Judge Mathis is 100% wrong on this one. The defendant is the one borrowed the money and agreed on the terms. Judge could ask the plaintiff to forgive not to rule basing on his emotions and ignored the law (agreement) which the defendant confirmed that she agreed with the terms of borrowing.

Morally, I agree with judge Mathis. But legally, SHE asked to borrow the money. So SHE is supposed to pay it back. I don’t think it’s fair that the plaintiffs case was dismissed

I don’t care who raised him 100% of the time. She called him for the money. She didn’t call and make an agreement with the father and grandfather. Also, that son is an adult. Regardless of the past, this is a current situation as an adult resulting in a mistake that he made, so why should the father or the grandfather be held liable… or Even the mother? This was a loan… Plain and simple! She should be ashamed of herself for trick bagging the grandfather, knowing that he would have some sort of soft spot that she could play on.

JM is WRONG here. She made a contract directly with him. I'd like Judge Mathis to explain in which situation legally can one person make a contract with an entity or another person and then another party (who has nothing to do with the contract) be held liable?... he wrong for this one.

JM has lost his mind! He did not follow the law on this one! The agreement was made between the plaintiff and the defendant! Not his son! The judgement should have gone in favor of the plaintiff ***BY LAW!*** I think JM is thinking of his own situation growing up on many of his cases; how his mother was a single parent and his father wasn't there to help out. That's why he rules the way he does. He doesn't even follow the law anymore. Shameful!

Wow if I was the guy I would be pissed and taking this to a higher court. She literally admitted she asked to borrow it and agrees to pay it back plus interest. The son didn’t call him bc if he did he prob would have told him no! She called therefore she should be the one paying it back. The judge picks and chooses and was extremely biases in this case and he shouldn’t be able to rule on his feelings!!
