From Warner Bros. Pictures, Imperative Entertainment and BRON Creative comes Clint Eastwood’s newest feature film, the drama “The Mule.” In addition to directing, the veteran actor will step in front of the lens again, alongside fellow stars Bradley Cooper, Laurence Fishburne, Michael Peña, Dianne Wiest and Andy Garcia, as well as Alison Eastwood, Taissa Farmiga, Ignacio Serricchio and Loren Dean, Eugene Cordero.
Eastwood stars as Earl Stone, a man in his 80s who is broke, alone, and facing foreclosure of his business when he is offered a job that simply requires him to drive. Easy enough, but, unbeknownst to Earl, he’s just signed on as a drug courier for a Mexican cartel. He does well-so well, in fact, that his cargo increases exponentially, and Earl is assigned a handler. But he isn’t the only one keeping tabs on Earl; the mysterious new drug mule has also hit the radar of hard-charging DEA agent Colin Bates. And even as his money problems become a thing of the past, Earl’s past mistakes start to weigh heavily on him, and it’s uncertain if he’ll have time to right those wrongs before law enforcement, or the cartel’s enforcers, catch up to him.
“The Mule” marks Oscar-winner Eastwood’s first time on both sides of the camera since he starred in 2009’s critically acclaimed “Gran Torino.”
Cooper, who stars as Bates, received his most recent Oscar nominations for his work with Eastwood, acting in and producing “American Sniper”; he will next be seen in his feature directorial debut, “A Star Is Born.” Oscar nominee Fishburne (“What’s Love Got to Do with It,” TV’s “Black-ish”) plays a DEA special agent in charge; Peña (upcoming “Ant-Man and the Wasp,” Netflix’s “Narcos”) plays a fellow agent; Oscar winner Wiest (“Bullets Over Broadway,” “Hannah and Her Sisters,” TV’s “Life in Pieces”) plays Earl’s ex-wife; Oscar nominee Garcia (“The Godfather: Part III”) plays a cartel boss; Alison Eastwood (“Rails & Ties”) plays Earl’s daughter; Farmiga (“The Nun”) plays the role of Earl’s granddaughter; Serricchio (Netflix’s “Lost in Space,” “The Wedding Ringer”) plays Earl’s cartel handler; Dean (“Space Cowboys”) plays another agent; and Cordero (“Kong: Skull Island”) plays a cartel member.
Clint Eastwood (“Sully,” “American Sniper”) directed from a screenplay by Nick Schenk (“Gran Torino”), inspired by the New York Times Magazine article “The Sinaloa Cartels’ 90-Year-Old Drug Mule” by Sam Dolnick. Eastwood also produced the film under his Malpaso banner, along with Tim Moore, Kristina Rivera and Jessica Meier, and Imperative Entertainment’s Dan Friedkin and Bradley Thomas. The film’s executive producers are Dave Bernad, Ruben Fleischer, Todd Hoffman and Aaron Gilbert. Jillian Apfelbaum and David M. Bernstein co-produced.
Eastwood’s team behind the scenes includes director of photography Yves Bélanger (“Brooklyn,” “Dallas Buyers Club”) and production designer Kevin Ishioka (“The 15:17 to Paris”), along with longtime costume designer Deborah Hopper and Oscar-winning editor Joel Cox (“Unforgiven”), who have worked with Eastwood throughout the years on numerous projects.
A Warner Bros. Pictures Presentation, in Association with Imperative Entertainment, in Association with BRON Creative, a Malpaso Production, “The Mule” will be released in theaters December 14, 2018, distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Seeing this....And Clint, the ever active man who aged before us, given us years of grace, music and movies that are noted....And now to accept the man who wrote these beautiful words some 30 years younger than Clint, has sadly passed on. Live your life all...RIP Toby Keith...live on Clint. We are but a blink....keep bright all.

So heartbreaking. 😢 I can't imagine how Clint Eastwood feels about the loss of such a wonderful human. His family and friends...God bless them and give them peace and comfort. Death comes for us all. Thank God I believe in Heaven and eternal life. I believe they will see each other again on the other side, just as the rest of us will. Rest free, Toby Keith. ❤🙏💔

Clint Eastwood was sharing a golf cart with Toby Keith. Clint was talking about starting filming on The Mule the next day. Toby asked him "How do you do it at your age"? Clint said "I don't let the old man in". Then Toby got to writing this song using that response.

Toby Keith was just three years older than me when he passed, once again bringing the reminder of just how fragile life is. I implore anyone that is reading this to either pick up the phone or go visit those that you need to "bury any axes" with before it really is too late. I have always been a religious person and since Toby Keith passed, I have used this time to get closer to the maker as my body is not weathered and worn yet, but the hourglass is not full anymore either. God bless each and every one!

What a powerful song by Toby Keith. And yeah, Clint Eastwood is a talented treasure for our society, a person of a timeless ability to connect with people through his craft. I feel fortunate to be able orbit in both Toby's and Clint's worlds, really fortunate. One interesting tidbit: Clint was playing golf with Toby one day, and Toby asked him his "secret" for staying active in his older years. Clint's response: "Don't let the old man in." Toby was blown away by the thought and subsequently wrote this song. In essence, it was tailor-made for this movie, The Mule, but it speaks to ALL of us as we segue into the time of our lives where we have fewer years ahead of us than behind us. I'm 63 now, and I can tell you for sure that this song lasers into my very essence. Very powerful. Wow... what a message. What a way to deliver it. And what a story from whence it all came.

In 1963, when I was 20 - a couple of months before the JKF assasination - I saw for the first time an Eastwood movie titled "Coogan's bluff", where he portrayed a young Arizona's small town sheriff who flies into NYC to arrest a psycho killer...That day I became an Eastwood fan for life. I followed him later through his westerns and especially the Dirty Harry saga, ending now with this sad new flick of his. Everything comes to an end, especially human beings. I'm well aware of this, now that I'll soon turn 77...hope to reach my final days as well as Clint in this movie.

Truly remarkable. Definitely will pay to see 'The Mule.' This film already deserves a Golden Globe, some Oscars, & extra awards (for) based on the story, plot, originality, complex character(s), & directive talent.

Originally words of wisdom from Clint to Toby which inspired the song. I couldn't sleep. 3 am I turned on the computer. Read the news break, and literally gasped. We all knew that Toby was losing the battle, but we thought we still had one more day, one more song with him.
