When it comes to narcissistic abuse, it's crucial to focus on understanding the dynamics of the abusive relationship and the impact it has on the victim, rather than making assumptions or generalizations about their behavior. Narcissistic abuse can have a profound and complex effect on victims, often leading to emotional trauma, low self-esteem, and a distorted sense of self-worth. It can erode trust, create feelings of isolation, and manipulate the victim's perception of reality. Some victims of narcissistic abuse may struggle with maintaining healthy boundaries, trusting others, or recognizing their own value. In some cases, individuals who have experienced narcissistic abuse may engage in behaviors that are out of character, including cheating or seeking validation outside the relationship. These behaviors can be a response to the emotional turmoil and manipulation they have endured. It's important to approach this with compassion and understand that these actions may stem from a desire for validation, escape, or a misguided attempt to regain a sense of control or self-worth. However, it's essential to note that not all victims of narcissistic abuse engage in infidelity or seek external validation. Each individual responds to abuse differently, and their actions may vary depending on their coping mechanisms, personal values, and circumstances. If you or someone you know has experienced narcissistic abuse, it is crucial to seek support from professionals such as therapists or counselors who specialize in trauma and relationship dynamics. They can provide guidance, healing strategies, and help rebuild a healthy sense of self-worth and trust. Remember, the effects of narcissistic abuse are complex, and the healing process is unique to each individual. Judgment and assumptions can hinder the understanding and support that victims need. Providing empathy, compassion, and access to appropriate resources can contribute to the healing journey and empower survivors to rebuild their lives. What annoys me is when the narcissist knows you can't stand another person and even witnessed the other person offend you in some way, and yet put this person who harmed you on a pedestal

Try going to a family cookout and the person who wronged you is there even though the Narcissist assured me they wouldn't be there. When I noticed this person, my narcissist mother jumped up from her chair and actually walked right in front of me and smirked staring me right in the eyes. I swear to you people these narcissists are sadistic and insane. Also I was lied to about the start time of the event. I was told it started at 1pm. My cousin later told me everyone was told to show up at 12 noon. I wonder how my narcissist mother would feel if i tricked her into walking into a room with her abusive father? These people have no concept of empathy and integrity.

what 'annoys' me is that being offended. that's yours. the fact that YOU can't stand the person. Wht should they not be put on a pedestal? because of 'THE' offence...the incident..? u must be very close to this person if the can have such effect on you how can I tell? because you used their title! They often tell me that he or she is nice to THEM though, which isn't much help, or they had a bad day, or have a stressful job, and so on. I've started saying that I do have empathy for people, but they don't need to take their issues out on me. I even asked one acquaintance why particular people don't use him as an emotional punching bag instead, if that's the case! He replied that they can see that you're vulnerable, or you're a woman, so it's MY fault, even though it would be true in some circumstances. 🥺

@@cyndigooch1162 Most aggressive people view kindness as weakness all the time. There really shallow and petty, always have been since the beginning of time. I have a really kind nice guy look to my face~You wouldn't believe how much testing and disrespect I get all the time. But I've been into weightlifting my whole-life so that messes with there shallow ( let me judge you from the neck up ) mentality. They need to start looking down a bit and realize that I can leg press them through a wall. Thanks Michele. I'm now six months separated from my wife of 32 years. I spent most of that time assuming that the weird behaviours were all my fault. About two years ago I stumbled upon an online article about NPD and she ticked all the boxes. It took me a long time to actually leave her. I've now had 19 hours of counselling and my counsellor says I still have a long way to go. Particularly when the NPD is covert it is such a cruel and damaging disorder. My wife is now doing a massive smear campaign and doing her best to ruin me financially. She tormented me until I had to leave. Now she's punishing me for leaving. And, yes, she used all ten of the things you described in this video.

My mother does the _inadvertently you don't matter_ thing all the time. I wrote a screenplay a few years ago and when I tried to talk about it with family members, they would go silent and turn away. _ I knew she had gotten to them. Damn flying monkeys will never have a mind of there own...

Can't tell you how much of a struggle it is to have a conversation with my narcissist mother. I have to repeat my question up to 3 times before I get an answer to a simple question. But if I ask her about her soap opera The Young And The Restless, She instantly has laser focus. Ya gotta love the constant gaslighting when you ask a specific question and they reply with something totally unrelated. (Q ) - How'd ya make out at the doctors today? ( A ) - Look at the shirt I picked up at the thrift store ???????????? Not once does she ever ask, " How you feeling?, Did you sleep ok last night? It's all carefully orchestrated to send a subtle subliminal message that YOU DON'T MATTER.

@@carolmonroe6489 No, acting like you don't hear someone just to make them repeat themselves is just a way of narcissists to feel like they are in control. It isn't so much WHAT they do as it is HOW CONSISTENT they are with the constant disrespect. A simple tap on the shoulder won't bother many people, but if i tap your shoulder for 4 hours straight your going to flip out. Subtle disrespect and abuse done consistently is far more damaging than a quick smack to the face.

@@Lyrielonwind I really need to make a channel about Narcissistic abuse but there are so many of them. So true what you said. Everything is to set you up to be the fool. My mother used to pick up the phone and start dialing someone while asking me- " How was your day? " Then as I went to answer her she would CUT ME RIGHT OFF and start talking to the person on the phone. It took me a while to figure this out. Now when I see her picking up the phone and dialing - I HAVE MY GUARD UP AND WAIT. If she asks me ANYTHING. I get up and WALK INTO ANOTHER ROOM UNTIL THAT DAMN PHONE IS OFF.

They want you to react so they can say; "see how he/she has anger issues". They set scenarios just to convince others you are the problem. That's why learning how to calm down your stressed nervous system is a priority because they are looking for your reaction. It's when they can't get a reaction out of you when they can't toy you and the abuse scalate or they give you breadcrumbs. That's why no contact works for them; they lose control and can even get mortification but it's best not to be around and out of reach but the point of no contact is for you to heal and never be around. The best response to a narcissistic person is a no response. That's when they realized you got away and no bullet can reach you.

That one about being bored when you speak....While it can definitely be a tactic to bring your self esteem down a notch...it can also sometimes be that they just simply aren't interested in any topic but themselves...or topics in which they can flaunt their knowledge or expertise...or topics they can easily steer back to the topic of themselves.

I totally agree with this point and I've heard extremely popular narcissism counsellors etc state that highly narcissistic individuals only target people who are confident and successful, with no childhood trauma issues, which doesn't seem right. In fact, I've heard from horse's mouths, as the saying goes, including an ex, that they easily pick vulnerabililty and loneliness in women, then ACT friendly towards them, so they think that they're lovely men! Of course, it's the case with women who prey on others as well and some do target those with strong boundaries, yet most would be repelled. 🙁

Omg!!!!!! Every single time I speak with my mom which is rare as I gray rock and just keep contact for special occasions and a few phone calls a year but every time I speak w her it’s GUARANTEED that a piece of my self esteem is (tried to be) taken. The only cards she can play are so obvious so I literally set her up as a psychological experiment and she takes the bait every time. Examples: I give her a special gift she says it’s a bad gift or refuses it. My teeth are crooked, I don’t look good with my glasses off, I need to put more make up on, I’m lying or exaggerating when I tell a story, my weight is higher than she remembers, I spend $ like a fool, I’m a job hopper, I’m reckless. If i ask her a question she won’t answer it. She can remember conversations precisely from 30 years ago but constantly pretends to forget the simplest, recent things I’ve told her about my life. Occasionally I will tell her fake stories just to see what she will do. 😂😂😂you have to laugh

Which i did that purposely so everyone on her page can see it.well she purposely reacted to every other comment but mine and thats alright but i have a feeling im going to get the silent treatment soon bc im not letting her do what she wants anymore and i hate to be this way bc it is my own mother but enough is enough

When attempting to use conditional logic based on someone's words and behavior, it becomes evident that it is ineffective due to their deliberate avoidance of accountability. Although this approach aims to hold them accountable, they consistently demonstrate denial and even delusional behavior when faced with the prospect of being held responsible.

3. The other kind develops it as a pattern of behavior. The first kind practices narcissism to win. This kind is always winning. The second type practices it to actually avoid shame and then win. You're suggesting there's something you've done to develop the second kind. But first, you have to determine if she has the created kind or the born kind and to what degree.
