The Seren EV Charger, designed for domestic use, harnesses a light source for dimly lit locations so the charger can be easily located. With the installer's convenience at heart, this charger boasts some impressive features aimed at saving you time and headaches.
The charger also offers a variety of colour options and allows customers to customise the light source to their preference.
In this video, Rick and Gordon install the charger at a customer's house. The looming question remains - will they finish the job before the impending snow arrives?

Those Female to Female RJ45 couplers will give you a dodgey connection sooner rather than latter. Replace them with Gel Crimps the type BT engineer use. I speak from experience as I had to swap out a few couplers in Scotland that were put in by the furniture makers. Salutations from Costa Del Watford.

Normally, electricians doing data work is like kitchen fitters doing electrics, but that's some nice termination there 🙂 Beautiful job as always, chaps.

I'm CTO at a medium sized company and discovered 1 wrongly spliced Cat6 run and 1 loose walljack, after two electricians, who I paid £3000 to run a few hundred meters of cable. I redid them myself instead of calling them back. What amazes me is that they said they tested the cables as good, but line 3 was broken in the spliced cable, and the walljack had a short to ground......... Never those guys again.

@eFixx, thought about surge protection on the twisted pairs for the ethernet? The transformers in the ethernet interfaces gives good isolation already but I've still seen persistent lightning induced problems on site to site wireless that were only addressed when installation of surge protection was finally allowed. It's not much of an expense compared to replacing a dead switch and perhaps equipment further on. One instance I know about happened to someone I know. A full rack of a digital A/V distribution system at his luxury home was written off by lightning for the lack of surge protection on a run to a large pergola in the gardens. It wasn't done by me otherwise it would have had it or more likely a run of fibre to the pergola. The damage bill came out at $AUD 40k-ish.

Loving your videos and your work. I see for the video the RJ45s you are using are in not shielded. I would worry the Cat cable would get unwanted noise/voltage from the power cables in the EV Ultra Cable. Is this not an issue?

The twisted pair is enough to prevent interference. Remember it’s an EV charger at the end of the wire not a data centre.

@@efixx Music to my ears! I believe Lewden call them “Single pole plus switched neutral” as the over current protection is obviously only protecting the live side. But I believe this satisfies the requirements of part 7 as it does indeed disconnect ALL live conductors. Sadly I see many non compliant EV installations usually because either the RCD is protecting multiple circuits or because the incorrect type of RCD has been selected.

I am not familiar with Uk electric and Ev chargers.. Why is there such a low value requirement for earth impedance concerning Ev chargers? Is it a requirement from the manufacturer? With a T.T earth system the max impedance can be 50 V/0.03 A (1667 Ohms). 50 V is the max acceptable safe voltage, while 30 mA is the Rcd max fault current, before it trips.

It's a 'charger', 10M would be overkill for the piddly amount of data flowing even it's full blown web interface if it has one. If it's purely for command and statistics it could be done with a 9600 serial link. 100m distance officially too. It's hard to imagine cat5e (or cat5 for that matter) not being up to the job.
