9:19 I’ve done it that way for years. Not a spark but used to fit cookers for a well know retailer. Also if you don’t pull the sheath completely off, when you cut the wire it keeps it all together. It’s a good method for 4/6 mm TE as you can bend the top and use it to twist the wires

Yet, when i made enquiries for a CU replacement, and some minor work (single sockets to doubles). I was told that Nottingham-way was too far away for the Bundyman :(. Found a local guy, but by the time he was 90% of the way thru, was when I noticed after asking for RCBOs etc, he'd gone and replaced my aged Wylex rewireable mess, with a twin RCD board. Gutted.

Surely if the main fuse supplying the Henley block is an 100 or 80 amp the 10mm tail are way under size for that main fuse protection .

No, because the tails are protected by the upstream overload current protection. The circuit will only draw a max of 32a, for which 10mm are sufficient. Why people find this so difficult to understand baffles me.

Like the look of those wced units, currently installing the fusebox ev40 ax units, but like you said they’re a lot bigger. Also we’re guilty of the 25mm tails, 10mm from now on. Thanks for the tips 👌🏼

I used to do the same ! I then came across these little gems of a unit ! Wouldn’t turn back now and cost wise they are sooo cheap at around £36 ! BARGAIN !

Can you put 10mm into a Henley with tails that feed a main board from 100a main fuse? I know they’re 2 different boards but that’s like putting 1mm from a socket for a light without fusing the cable down.

Yeah you can, the protection for the cable is just at the after the cable not before as it's fixed at 32a

Could you not use a spare way in the board or SHOULD the EV ALWAYS have its own separate board?

Probs not, My charger was wired into a spare way in our board..

So the charger requires Surge protection and also type A rcd protection, the age of the board makes it hard to sometimes retro fit these. It also helps to take the install away from the existing meaning we can issue a single certificate for just the EV Board. If there was a new style board that has surge or can be retrofitted it can be possible but also may be more costly

mate cant speak for domestic installs in a gas meter enclosure but no way is that allowed in comercial or industrial gas meter rooms

Velocity is light years behind veto in every imaginable way possible. If you’re serious about your tools you should be buying vetos. Veto set the standard the rest are just trying to follow. Hence the 5 year zero downtime warranty compared to velocity’s 3.

Nice vid! Although if it’s 100 amp main fuse you definitely need 25mm tails off that regardless of what it’s supplying. Otherwise with that logic you could say I’m going to wire in 1mm twin to the Henley block as it’s only supplying 1 led lamp… The cable always has to have a higher current capacity than the fuse it’s protected by

Not true, the regs state you can have the overcurrent protective device downstream if cable length is under 3 metres (which it is). .

You can't run unsheathed cores outside of an enclosure and Henley blocks aren't made for cables that small so no, you couldn't.

@@KevinSmith-ph6jv although in that case they're upgrading because you need more power, so 100a is the design current. A standalone charger board is only ever designed to take the charger load

The poor man’s EV install nor sure why u have to have.a separate CU and so tight for space when you have a big garage wall and not use the existing board guess it’s full up! We find EDF flag all 10mm tails when they find them still in use wouldn’t want to put them to an 80A FUZE either

Existing DB would not accept the required upgrades for a car charger, surge, type a RCD etc. Yes they will if it is supplying a whole property DB this is a load limited device, with whole home monitor CT clamp fitted, Downstream protection allows this as it is a method of protection as tails under 3m

While I love your videos , really not a fan of you running the wire in the cavity . Any future person drilling through that wall or coring are in serious danger of injury had a mate that cored a wall and hit 100 amp cable supplying two flats above even after first core hole into cavity it was clear as coring outside wall wire dropped and bang it went he was seriously lucky to be alive .

As long as RCD protection is in place there is no issue with it, you also must take into consideration that the charger is also a piece of electrical equipment so has its own zones for buried cable, same as a normal socket etc

I’ve Spoken to Mike personally to see how he’s doing, I’m a huge advocate hence sharing my stories over the years, I’m currently dealing with a very close friend of mine again who is on the edge and is in a very very bad place. I’m there for people who need me and shouldn’t be made by anyone to voice my opinion on some thing I know little about especially all over social media

So, it's right that his subscribers ask him about issues that he has been open about in the past, like online bullying, intimidation and mental health.
