One thing that always bothered me was that the trolls specifically tell their parents that Elsa needs to learn to control her powers and what does her father do? "Conceal it, don't feel it." Like what? 😑 That's the exact opposite of what she needs to do. When she was afraid as a kid her parents should have comforted her not tell her to hide away.

They interpret "Fear will be your enemy," as referring to OTHER PEOPLE'S fear, when Grand Pabbie ACTUALLY meant ELSA'S OWN fear, yet somehow never occurs to them that he could have just as easily meant Elsa's own fear.

Gigi L They just do that because pride gets the better of them and they think the hero can't stop them. There actually is something out there that pokes fun at that: the T.U.F.F. Puppy episode Doom and Gloom. In it, Larry gets fed up with Verminious Snaptrap's constant abuse of him and the fact Snaptrap always tells T.U.F.F. his evil plans, so he quits working for him and forms his own alliance. And he actually proves to be a capable villain, mostly because he never tells the good guys his plans. Pretty good episode, if you ask me.

I honestly believed the trolls are the true villains of this movie. I also believe Hans was a true good hearted prince in the beginning and he really did fallen for Anna. But when the trolls met her, and saw that Christoff liked her. They cursed Hans and made him evil. So Anna can marry his Christof instead of Hans. The trolls did said Hans was a small problem that needed to be taken care off. I can't just forget the fact of when Hans met Anna and when he under the boat, he smiled when she walked away. A real genuine smile, not an evil one. Frozen has so many plot holes, I can't even. I just can't.

I think it's more acceptable to start a kinda relationship with someone you've only known for a short time (especially since they did get to know each other quite well), than it is to get engaged to someone you met on the exact same day, so not even spending time with each other for a whole day.

They specifically mention that they they are reducing the staff to keep Elsa's powers secret. This also implies they're keeping the staff that are least chatty. Of course this is bound to be noticed and people are going to wonder if there's some sort of fnancial crisis or what's gooing on, leading to uncertainty and possible instablity. So he's a bad king as well a a bad father.

@Guina films The trolls never said to isolate someone they just said needed to avoid fear. The idea to keep her hidden until she learns to control her power was his and it had nothing to do with reducing fear. It had to do with keeping it secret. What's the first thing we hear him say "This is getting out of hand.". Not "are you and your sister OK?" or even "What's wrong?". He is the fear. He is her enemy.

Yeah, it happened on let it go scene. Also Creating golems are commong spell in many fantasy settings. Like in Heroes of might and magic, there is 4 element of magic, Fire, Earth, Air and Water. Each element has summon Fire/Water/Air/Earth elemental. D&D has too etc. So Olaf and Marshmallow are basically a golems.

But do we actually SEE him come to life? I only remember Elsa building him together and then going along singing and building her castle, and then in the next scene Anna and Kristof meet him in the woods and he's suddenly alive? Marshmallow does remind of a golem in considering he obeys Elsa's bidding, but Olaf she didn't even realize that she created until he returns with Anna.

By the way, the movie makes no sense because the story changed many many times. The trolls were just supposed to give a prophecy, Elsa was supposed to become a true bad guy (''let the storm rage on''), Anna did marry a stranger, ... In fact, it would be super interresting if you made a video about the original story they had in mind for Frozen and how it changed. It should be easy enough to find the pieces and connect them together.

WinterSnow 99, there is literally nothing about this movie that makes sense. But, Hans is just the worst most inconsistent conceptualization of a character I've ever had the facepalm inducing incredulity to witness. Hans is like a game where you fold a piece of paper and each child draws a different part of a body - except with personality, motivation and modus operandi.

Regarding Hans' behavior, I think he didn't wanted Elsa to die immediately, because that could've made Anna suspicious. Pretending to have done everything in his might to save Elsa from harm puts him in a much better spot. He never intended to kill Anna either - at least not right away. He just took up the chance when she was actually dying herself. If everything went according to his plan, he'd just married Anna, then stage an accident to kill off Elsa 1-2 years in the future, and then either ruled at Anna's side or kill her in "an accident" in the near future as well. He was in for the long term - but the events that happened around him enabled him to get along quicker then he anticipated. So his only real flaw was actually not to make sure Anna is dead before he claims she's dead - that alone broke his neck.

I'm gonna make a comment that's pretty bad and entirely opinion so don't take too much offense to it. But... Olaf ruined the movie. His character is stupidly uncharming and adds so much unnecessary gags and just plain awful screen time. For example, my least favorite part of the movie, when Anna and Kristoff fall down the cliff, Olaf feels the need to add the comment that he doesn't have bones. While this is just supposed to relieve tension and make you love the characters goofy quirks, it really just makes the situation awkward and feels forced more than anything. Just when I was starting to care for this movie it throws an unnecessary one liner in a stressful situation that shouldn't have evoked any emotion but concern. Along with this point comes the idea that many movies have this type of comic relief, so it can't be that bad right? Wrong. Comic relief is for when you just got the end of a situation that is usually the climax, these lazily written lines in frozen don't even have anything to do with what we should be worrying about. Comic relief can also be used well with a character who is specifically sensing tension and tries to help the other characters lighten up, not the audience. This sort of interaction can be helpful for the relationship development and to add some break between action that would otherwise be filled with silence. Ex. Character A: Whew, I can't believe we were able to save the mayor without destroying anything this time. Comic relief: yeah, the building didn't break at all *building falls* Comic relief: Well crap. That's coming out of our paycheck. Anyways sorry for my ramblings I get passionate about writing and character usage.

Fancy Jammie K Ahoyhoy There, fellow KZfaqrino! He's cute, but did you ever stop to wonder what happened to all the How to Train Your Dragon fans? They loved Frozen instead just because Disney was slapped on the cover. Frozen made no sense there was no plot, if kids have small attention spans, then movies like The Brave Little Toaster or How to Train Your Dragon, or Spirit stallion of the Cimmaron can be followed way easier. But no, we have to demand new movies being made instead of enjoying the classics and giving poor writers a break. If we all just watched our favourite older movies once every couple years, it will stay fresh for years to come. Join kids on it , too. Have them appreciate older cartoons and kid friendly talkies that will be something even more magical to them, movies that deal with real life stuff like The Land Before Time, or Bambi, Semi scary films that are nostalgic like Brave Little Toaster, or Oliver and Company, even King of the hill, or the Simpson's, in most cases, are perfect family oriented programs. The early Simpsons and later King of the Hill episodes I'd recommend to today's youth.

One theory I've seen is that the trolls "got the fiancee out of the way" so Kristoff could get with Anna by enchanting Hans towards the end of the movie. In this theory, all of Hans' actions before his almost-kiss with Anna were genuine, which is why they completely contradict everything he says and does afterwards.

I made a huge reply debunking that theory from film theory and my reply there fits here as well.Everything below this was my comment on that same theory: I completely disagree with this theory and I even disagree with the idea with the idea that his twist didn`t make sense. I think it was pretty well executed and maybe even that Hans is one of the best Disney villains to date. Please hear me out. Hans wanted to marry Anna, to get a good reputation in Arendelle and after that he wants to kill off Elsa. Until he realises Annas heart is frozen and she will die this can all easily take a few months to execute optimally. In the ice castle only the two men from Weselton want to kill her and the worst risk he can take is letting Elsa already die in front of his eyes. There is actually a good chance that a heartbroken Anna would blame Hans if he did nothing and all the other people of Arendelle that were there would be able to tell it to Anna. He also didn`t know that Elsa didn`t intend to come back at all. only after Anna explains the situation when she`d back in the castle he understands he needs to hurry with his plan, because if Anna dies before their wedding he has a problem like you say in the video. However, he has litterally no way of saving Anna at that moment. A kiss from him would mean absolutely nothing, because from his side it is not a true loves kiss. Because of this he cannot keep his true intentions a secret from Anna. So Anna would not marry him and in a very short time the whole castle would know. This means that Anna must die immediately so that she cannot tell anyone his true intentions and the only way to do that was like he did in the movie. He also cannot kill Anna quicker, because he would not be able to explain a stab wound or something like that so does the only logical thing at that moment. Only now it is important to kill Elsa quickly because otherwise she could chose someone else or even get a king herself at some point. Without Anna there is no reason that Hans would be the next ruler if Elsa is furst ruler for some time. So again he does the only logical thing, but killing Elsa of so soon wasn`t the plan earlier. About the blood argument I have to say that we don`t see any signs of blood relatives to Anna and Elsa based on the fact that they surely would be on the coronation and we don`t see anyone. Secondly, then why wouldn`t they have ruled earlier when Elsa was still to young to rule? We don`t have any sign of there being a living relative and even if they had someone far away it is not even proved that the kingdom of Arendelle even works that way. To go to the trolls I find a curse from them even more unlikely, because their goal is to let Anna and kristoff marry. So from their side if they were evil they should let Hans commit suiside or let him forget everything and leave. However, they would certainly not let Hans kill Anna, because that would let their plans fail completely. Think about it! Why would they try to kill of Anna? I think these explanations should complete solve the "plot holes" around Hanses character and twist. I honestly think that his clever plan and the fact that he tries to be a good king for the people of Arendelle (The fact that he is a villain doesn`t mean he cannot do anything nice or even let him be a good king) make him a very good character. I would like to hear other opinions about this so please leave a reply if you like ;)

I actually like that theory. There's too much that doesn't line up with Hans' character before the big reveal. When you see him just meet Ana he seems so genuine. The shot of him after he falls in the water. There is nobody around to see him act except his own horse. At that time he really seems to like her. Him being the bad guy never sat well with me. I think they just did that so Ana could leave him for Christoph without looking like a slut in the eyes of some more conservative viewers.

Okay, so my little brother loved this movie when it first came out--I'm talking watch it every day and sing the songs in the shower kind of obsess--and the more I saw it--which was quite often--the more I noticed things that didn't make sense. You touched on a lot of these, and some I didn't think of as well. (Good job there, by the way.) But here are some more that I've noticed through my countless journeys to Arendelle and the world of Disney: As Anna is in the castle freezing to death and too weak to do anything, Olaf finds her by unlocking and opening the door with a carrot, right? Well, if it was that easy, Anna just wasted 13 years begging Elsa to unlock and open HER door when all it really took was a carrot. Is that not depressing? Also, why do the doors always lock/unlock from the outside in these movies? How often is that actually the case? Most of the doors I've seen lock/unlock from the inside, but whatever. You know, it's not like it really matters or anything... Right? Third, I'd like to point out that if the Duke of Weselton was as old as he looked--which was certainly after about age 60--how was he able to jump and dance like he did at the party? Wouldn't it like, I don't know, break his back or something? Finally, how can Elsa make clothing and shoes? Clothing is made of fabric. I thought Elsa had ice magic, not instant-sewing powers. Ice skates are made from leather and metal blades. What on earth do cow skin and metal have to do with ice? I get that they're ICE skates but that doesn't excuse the whole dress-making, instant-sewing thing. Otherwise, I can't think of anything you didn't already touch on at the moment, although I probably could if you give me some time. I laughed throughout the entire video. I love this channel so much. Conspiracies have always been an obsession of mine and this channel is by FAR my favorite in that department. I've started noticing more in movies as I watch them (seeing easter eggs and stuff and creating connections in my head--possible endings and whatnot). Y'all are great and I can't wait to see more. Have a beautiful day. --This Lovely Young Heart

Yeeeeaaaah I kind of don't like frozen because the last third is dumb. Hans just becomes a villain because they need a climax even though there is no set-up, he just goes from good to bad for no real reason. I am still convinced the ending was changed and they didn't rewrite the rest of the script. It seemed like Hans was going to be as naive as ana about love then they realise love doesn't happen in a day but familial love could work so they rush to find Elsa. It just makes so much more sense. Really love the first two-thirds, but the climax ruined every aspect of the set-up. Aside from the Duke who was a minor villain acting in fear, there shouldn't have been a big bad, just the fear that Ana could die.
@nanalove3819
@nanalove3819 5 жыл бұрын
I thought Hans was a villain because they wanted to break the love triangle without having Anna decide (like "she's nice, she doesn't make a guy suffer, that was the guy who was a villain"). But I like that change, and if it wasn't there, the love story would have been too much like Enchanted (I already think they recycle that plot).
@poplasia

I always thought they could keep Hans as only wanting to get in a relationship with Anna for the throne, but not actually wanting to kill her. Then, in the scene where she needs the kiss, he could become distraught because he knows he doesn't really love her and that the kiss won't work... but he also doesn't want her to die. So Hans leaves to try and find Elsa, heart heavy with guilt, in the hopes that she'll be able to do something. Anna follows because she's still worried about him, even after the 'betrayal' that he doesn't love her, and she's worried about her sister. Surrounded by the snowstorm, Elsa can't hear what Hans says, save that her sister is dying. In her grief at that, she lashes out at everything around her. Anna steps in to save Hans, because she now knows the trauma Elsa went through after she accidentally attacked her in their childhood and doesn't want her sister to experience the same pain again.

Think about this: What if the trolls were actually the villains. Hans didn't appear as a villain until after the trolls whispered in their song "her quote engagement is a flex arrangement". That would also explain why the elder troll told them the lie in the beginning about concealing the magic. The elder troll also said himself that the head can be persuaded. Who's to say that the trolls wouldn't go so far as to confuse Hans and change his whole thought process just so their Christoff can marry Anna.

Cristoff and Ana spent more time getting to know each other than Hans and Ana did. Another thing is that they didn't just automatically look at each other and decide that they should be with each other. Ana literally took one look at Hans and immediately started flirting with him. With Cristoff, Ana just saw a man who could help her find her sister and needed supplies that he couldn't afford. She gave him supplies in exchange for his knowledge of nature and survival skills. During the adventure, they both risked their lives to save each other several times. Ana and Hans only spent a couple of hours together before they decided to get married. They both cared about each other when the other got hurt. They both put each other first. They took initiative when they had to save each other. They worked together as a team to accomplish their goals. All Ana and Hans did was talk.

Likely because when olaf is first made (when they were children) Elsa makes him say "I'm Olaf, I like warm hugs". Because summer is the height of warmth, it makes sence that he would have loved it.

The way everything was set up just didn't set right for me, and when everyone was like "what did you think of the big reveal?" I was like "what? That the snowman comes to life? That true love can be familial love?"

I think that I part made me suspicious, at least. Then they had the lovely couple song, where it sounded a little off--and then I realized he was basically always a syllable or so behind Anna whenever they sang in harmony, which basically told me "okay, this guy is definitely not the Prince Charming this naive girl thinks he is." Even if you didn't recognize those two details as suspicious, though, I'd argue that the most obvious detail in the film is the fact that the only other person perfectly fine with this "love at first sight" business is Hans himself. Anna I could get - she's ditzy, oblivious, and pretty darn naive to the world since she's never really gotten to leave the castle all that much. Someone with Hans' alleged past though? If he wasn't being manipulative as hell, he wouldn't have gone for it. Perhaps if they left it at that you could say "love at first sight? Fairytale and story book logic!" But every single person who heard about the engagement was horrified. If that doesn't give you a "hey, this guy is no good" vibe, then I don't know what would.

This is why I never did like the Trolls. That and I also blame the parents for basically shunning their daughters. If you didn't know the act is very parallel to parents of Deaf children. Because the parents don't know what to do with their deaf child they miss out on so much bonding.
@ChronicallyCurious
@ChronicallyCurious 6 жыл бұрын
TJ Thomas That's interesting. I never thought superficially of deafness as being a parallel. I always felt like I identified a bit with Elsa, because I was diagnosed with several chronic illnesses and chronic pain when I was 12. There were a lot of weeks, solid weeks, I'd have to spend in my room in the dark, listening to audiobooks on the third lowest setting, because light and sound made my migraines so much worse. I couldn't go to school physically anymore. I still get nervous in public because there were so many times I'd start to hurt badly and have to keep my mask on while I made my excuses and left the room, while inside it was like I was on fire. My parents were awesome about it (my mom has these illnesses and my dad's a doctor, so they understand them) but it hurt them so much to see me hurting, made them feel guilty and like they should do more to 'fix' me, so when I started to leave when I was hurting more, so they didn't have to see it. And, of course my old friends were upset I wasn't at school anymore, and just faded away. My brother, though, never really understood why I was so uncomfortable being around people when I was hurting. He always wanted to protect me. He ended up sleeping outside my door sometimes, when I was sick, knowing I needed to be alone, but also knowing he had to make sure I was okay. So this.... this movie had some interesting parallels with my own life that made me pretty fond of it. Of course, in real life, your weakness cant become your superpower overnight, and in real life it's not so easy to brush years of isolation and stasis aside. But, it's hopeful, I guess, for anyone who's ever been on that side of the closed door.

Chronically Curious Thank you for telling me about your experience. I won’t say I know what that’s like. But I understand it can be hard to talk about. (I have Tramatic Brain Injury experience that I won’t bring up often.) As for the deafness parallels, it is not exact one-to-one reference but the parents reaction to their Deaf child is exactly what it’s shown in the movie. Often the deaf child are left feeling isolated with little or no language.

I do love the idea of the trolls being the villians. With this thought, it could explain so much. Why the parents have that random book, why they were cool with letting the trolls "fix" Anna, and everything about Hans' "plan" to take over the kingdom. Did the trolls have a bigger plan? Why are they pushing Kristoff and Anna together? Do they want to take over Arendelle? Did they give Elsa her powers? They're such clever villians that they even had us, the viewers mislead during the first viewing of the film.

By the time Frozen takes place, absolute Monarchy is a thing. She was Queen, and could have litterally avoided the whole thing by using this. The Guards and Soldiers where sworn to serve her. If anyone tried dissent, such as the Duke, she could have had them arrested right then and there. No one would question it.

Tbh the whole "nO hARm Is tO coME to THe qUeEN" bit struck me as a bid for legitimacy. Sure he could have blamed the duke's men, but in that situation Queen Elsa's death would have ultimately been his fault. Not a great look for a man wanting to rise to the throne. It makes more sense for her to have a little "accident" that he can't be connected to at all, and where he can control the staging completely. Not staying to finish off Anna was definitely a misstep on his part though. Although let's be honest, Anna was protected by plot armor there.
@avyatorsaurus
@avyatorsaurus 6 жыл бұрын
Cuthulu Cups Yeah, even if he had tried to blame Elsa's death on the duke's men, it would have made him look like a weak leader. He's trying to become king of an entire nation he's not even entitled to, so he's got to have a very, very strong presence. Being unable to talk two men down killing one woman? Even if that woman has ice powers? It doesn't look good in his favor. The fact of the matter is not only would he have failed to bring her back to Erendelle, but she was killed on his watch. If he was even remotely intelligent, he could have just kept going with Anna and married her. As of the Frozen film by itself (and none of the theories, confirmed or not, of them having relatives), she is next in line to become Queen if Elsa was to die. Even if Elsa doesn't die, he's still married to the next in line for the throne. Not only would first marrying Anna gain him the trust of the kingdom, it would put him in a better position to kill Elsa. Have a little patience, gain some respect, and no one would ever in a million years assume the "respected" Prince Hans had murdered his wife's older sister. Hell, even with the magic ice powers, he still could have worked out the original plan just as well. It would have been even more advantageous, tbh. He gains the trust of the people by helping them through the impromptu winter, and if he tried to help Anna bring Elsa back in, he'd also gain Anna's total trust (not that he didn't already have it). If they managed to talk Elsa down and calm her, he'd also have Elsa's trust. He's possibly even have Elsa's permission to marry Anna, since he'd proven his trustworthiness to Elsa by helping her in a tough time and looking after her kingdom. So, he'd get married to Anna, and a tragic accident would happen to Elsa. Which was what he'd originally intended, only he has proof of integrity via being so helpful during a crisis situation. Basically, if he'd just bided his time and was half as clever as the movie tried to paint him out to be, he could have benefitted even more than he'd originally intended.

@ Luna Sidera So you're totally right about Hans being an idiot, but here's the thing about Anna, she was going to die anyway. The original plan _was_ to marry her, kill her and the Queen off quietly, and ascend to the throne with every bit of legitimacy one could expect for a monarchy. It would have worked too, under normal circumstances, but then Anna suddenly needed "True Love's Kiss" to break a magical curse and save her life. Now, Hans can whisper sweet nothings to her all night long and have Anna convinced that he loves her, but magic, magic knows when the heart isn't being true. This is law in their universe and anyone _in_ that universe with two brain cells to rub together could realize that magic can't be deceived without a set of very specialized skills, if it's even possible at all. Hans knew he didn't have the ability to deceive actual magic, and he couldn't make himself love her. His cover was blown the moment she came back to the castle. From his perspective, even if he wanted to save her, she's dead and he's going to have to settle for less than full legitimacy. The problem he couldn't overcome was only staying long enough to gloat and not ensuring her death because for Hans to ascend to the throne, Anna needed to die in that room. He'd already been granted the power to rule in her absence. At that point it's simple enough to let her die from the "curse" (tragic), and slay the evil Queen who cursed her (Heroism!). Unfortunately for Hans, he was too much of an arrogant fool to make sure Anna was actually dead, so he ended up with a wooden chamber pot instead of a crown. Thus, we can conclusively prove that Hans was in possession of _at_ _least_ two brain cells, but evidently not many more than that.

@Luna Sidera Will people please stop assuming that Hans planned to do any of the things he said he planned to do. There is literally no reason to believe this and good reason not to. For a start he claimed to have known that nobody was getting close to Elsa despite neither meeting her or talking to anyone who met her before attempting to seduce Anna. Secondly the plan makes no sense. You don't get to be King because you were married to the late Queen, and if you tried whoever was third in line would at least arrest you.

I'm just saying it actually worked out pretty decently for him right up until the point where Hans was too stupid to follow through. And whoever was third in line really dropped the ball because Hans was already granted ruling powers. Whoops.

I read a theory that says Elsa is actually rapunzels sister and that's where she gets the powers from, rapunzel got the spring warm magical powers and Elsa got the winter cold magical powers from the flower her mom drank (which explains the hair colour since rapunzel also originally had colour that differed from her parents hair colour) and then after their first child was stolen, the king and queen sent their second child-Elsa to the queens brother- the king of arendelle to protect her and that's why the king and queen of arendelle don't particularly care for Elsa as much as anna

1. The trolls are erasing ALL magic, including memories, not just memories. 2. In nonmagical terms I think this would be the equivalent of getting a hit to the head near the part of the brain that controls memories, which requires “surgeries” (aka the troll’s sped up version, magic) but still has the possibility of causing a sort of disease that destroys those memories, which did happen.
