I grew up poor, so my number one hack is to spend like I still am, no matter how many raises I get. Love some of these tips though.

My washer was jumping during the spin cycle a few months ago and I got a quote for $250. I said no and went to KZfaq. Thirty minutes of labor and $37 for the parts saved my life.

I just fixed a leaky toilet and replaced a washing machine intake valve by myself thanks to KZfaq!

We make yogurt in the instant pot. It’s around $5 for gallon of whole milk, $2 for table cream, occasionally $2.99 for a plain yogurt to reset the starter. It makes 2X what we used to get for 11.99 and go through weekly for smoothies, breakfast, sauces, etc. delicious!

My mom used to save Christmas cards we got in the mail, cut off the portion that had writing on it and use the front with the pretty pictures to put on presents instead of buying labels.

I did a pickup order at my Kroger today. I saved $50 because I had 2 digital coupons worth $25 specifically for pickup orders and digital coupons for various items and sales for another $25. My $94 order cost me $44 just because I did a pickup order! What an awesome score!

I started working at a grocery store and found out that the store marks down meat 1 day before sell by date so now I will check meat case for items that are marked down. This helps for the carnivores I live with that need meat at every meal Also its very common for last weeks ad sale items to be marked down following week because store gets too much and has to move inventory. Example if ground beef is on sale this week I'll check next week and most likely there will be a mark down item. grab these deals and freeze it or cook as soon as I get home. I write date of purchase with a sharpie on package so I rotate items so nothing gets freezer burned and wasted. In the 9 months I have been working I have saved hundreds of dollars on meat and have a fully stocked freezer. Ask the butcher how your store does it. I also bought a cheap dry erase board at dollar tree that I put on outside of freezer to track what I have. when I'm meal planning for the week I don't have to open freezer to rummage through I just look at board and know exactly what I have inside. Also reminds me of those items that are buried that I might forget about.

As a single mother of 4 back in 1980's with a deadbeat ex that wouldn't pay child support, I went to work driving truck, heavy equipment and construction. I'm sooooo glad I did! This has saved me a small fortune over the years!! Every little bit helps! Thanks for the tips.

whenever i recieve a mylar balloon for any occasion -i take it apart at the seam and save both pieces.when i have a unique shaped gift to wrap,i just take a piece that matches that holiday (valentine balloon,graduation,etc) and wrap the gift in it-free wrapping paper and very shiny and festive!

We just bought about 7 acres if land and are going to build a house, but also plant a bunch of fruit trees and produce. I truly I can't wait to share with friends, family, or really anyone. I've been blessed by so many other gardeners' produce, I really look forward to sharing.

WOW, now these are some great money saving tips! I do my own pedicures and instead of spending tons of money at a salon I reached a point in my life where I decided I am good with letting myself go gray. I'm proud to say that I already do so many of these things. My kids and I really struggled after my divorce and I still come from that place of lack. A few of my hacks: #1: Make sloppy joes. Buy buns from the day-old bakery rack, and ground meat (I like bison) on it's last sell-by date. Leftover sloppy joe can be made into spaghetti sauce, chili, etc. #2: Save your laundry water in the utility tub to reuse. I sync hot, bleachy wash with days I mop my kitchen and bathroom floors. #3: buy extension cords after Christmas at 50% off.

As a prolific reader, the library saves me TONNES of money! I also utilise their app to download audiobooks/ebooks/magazines. I save at least £50 a month (between Audible/Kindle Unlimited/buying physical books).

Regarding the library tip and birthday party tip... Our local library provides free rooms for rent with reservation! We have used them for baby showers and birthday parties.

I started DIYing my clothes a few years back. Just small things at first, like decorating an old sweater or crocheting a cute hat. I have since learned to make my patterns and have made even winter coats. Most of the time, it takes less time than driving to the mall and walking through all the stores trying to find something that fits as well as looks good. I choose good quality fabric, all natural fibers so it's comfortable to wear; lasts longer. For example, a 100% silk dress only costs me about $16. My kids take care of the things I make for them. My son used to lose 2-3 hats a month during colder seasons. I knitted a hat for him that he's been wearing for two years now :) so it has saved me tons of money.

Please consider doing a video on how to churn credit cards and how to travel frugally! We don't buy Christmas gifts anymore for our kids. We don't want stuff we want to create memories. Would love to use your tips to save when doing this!

This is such a smart list. Cutting down on the amount of gifts you buy does make a huge difference. Spending time together is much better than just giving toys! 💌

My suggestion is learn to do yourself anything your paying someone else to do!! As a single mom i learned to do car oil changes, repair the washer and dryer myself, and make things you use!

I would consider my self fairly frugal and I do A LOT of these things, but I have such a hard time cutting back at Christmas. My kids literally get nothing as far as new toys except for Christmas and their birthday so I love to spoil them a bit on those 2 holidays. But I SAVE to make it happen!!

I would add regular car maintenance, fill the tank at 1/2 most of the time to prevent issues with the fuel pump, regular oil changes, etc. Avoids some huge expenses. Do the oil changes yourself, etc.

Limiting Christmas gifts for my kids was really hard for me. I grew up with a small toy store under the tree every year. I was raised basically as an only child. My only sibling is 15 years older than I am. I don’t remember a lot when he was still at home. When was expecting baby #3, I realized that buying that many gifts for 3 kids would be ridiculous. We would be over run with toys & it would be too much $. Then I heard a TV personality say. “I only get my kids 3 Christmas gifts each. It was good enough for Jesus & it’s His birthday.” I thought these people could afford to buy anything they wanted. That took off the mental pressure I had put on myself. I really looked back at my childhood Christmases. I do remember the tons of bright shiny gifts under the tree, but very few actual gifts. Gifts are not what I remember most. I remember the get togethers. I remember the adults playing games with me. Christmas morning was when my mother’s family celebrated. We would trek to my aunts house. It was all the way across street & over one house. Lol Then my grand mother, my cousins & their children would arrive. I remember the celebrations with good friends, even ones when I was the only child. Those are the things I still love to focus on now. Now I have 2 grandchildren. The 3 gift rule doesn’t apply. I buy whatever I want. We will have to wait & see if 3 grandchildren is the magic number that makes me limit their gifts. (Doubtful)

Our refrigerator started spewing ice out the ice maker and would not stop! Lol My husband fixed it but it did take a few tries. The first couple of cheap fixes weren't the issue. We even called a repair man to get a diagnostic. After that we bought the correct part and it's fixed. Yes, it took a couple of tries but it was still only about $180 total. Tons cheaper than buying a new fridge.

THANK YOU FOR SHOUTING OUT INTERLIBRARY LOANS!!!! i work in a library and you can get literally anything through ILL. you could cancel all streaming services and just watch your favorite shows for free through the library! it’s amazing! and our library even has apps where you can download shows and movies straight to a phone or smart tv if you can’t play dvds. also, check the library for fun and free events. our library has a schedule of events going two months out and there’s something free going on almost every single day, you don’t even have to have a card to participate. seriously, especially in the summer we have so much stuff going on, movies, crafts, games, the list is truly endless. love your local library!!!

Good tips! My favourite, that you didn't mention is not having a car. This might be impossible if you don't live in or near a city, but look into it. It saves scary amount of money!

If you don’t have haircutting skills make friends with someone who does and trade skills ( maybe not a professional-it’s their livelihood and may not appreciate it-some may not care but some might) I have 2 girlfriends who are VERY talented with home haircuts and for one I offer to cook a big nice dinner and clean her kitchen and the other I offer babysitting! It’s worked very nicely over the years!!

Money saving tip on cards- I found a box of 12 birthday cards at my Walmart for $1.98. They also have sympathy, thank you and anniversary options.

This was amazingly done! When I was a stay-at-home mom, I did most of these things. Now they are everyday habits. I used to share one or two ideas with friends here and there, but I love how you were able to put so many together in this video! Now, because we saved so much money over the years, we will be able to retire this summer. We still live frugally but without kids to raise, we get to splurge more often. Blessings to you!

The grocery stores in my area are on to the "shop the perimeter" idea. In the one nearest me, the perimeters are deli, made in-store grab & go foods (rotisserie chicken, packaged Puerto Rican rice, etc.), the meat/fish dept., dairy, soda & snack foods, cold beer. The local organic/natural foods store has baked goods (including gluten free cookies) in the perimeter areas.

Great hints! Do not waste money on souvenirs on vacation. Bring rainy day activities so you will not be tempted by the shops. Get souvenirs at yard sales then when you get tired of sell them at your yard sale. Make your own on a rainy day. Visit local libraries. They often have free programs of local interest. Visit the visitors center. There are often free or cheap events. Souvenirs are just expensive accumulation. Take pictures of memories. If you must buy something buy a local food product. Every time you use it, it will remind you of your vacation.

I have a clothesline, it cost maybe $30 to build over 10 years ago (wooden posts, concreted in ground) I'm in KY so from April to october its warm enough here to dry clothes outside, so I don't use my dryer unless its just a rare occasion where it rains for days at a time, but my electric bill is probably $20-30 cheaper in the summer

Yep on KZfaq for repair videos! My husband is super handy but was having a hard time repairing our carpet cleaner and KZfaq showed him what he was missing. I was really to just buy a new carpet cleaner! 💪💪

Stocked gift closet, love it. Never thought to do a whole closet, definitely would be better than my 2-4 totes, especially since now I have 5 kids instead of the 3 I actually raised (gained currently a 26 yr old and a 12 yr old through marriage almost 5 yrs ago) plus 4 daughter/son n laws and 5 grand babies with a 6th being worked on! I took to shopping clearance/back to school/after holiday sales when my kids was real young, doing so took the stress of gift giving and most of all Christmas shopping out if the equation cause I always was fully sticked on gifts for my kids, parents, sibblings and their families too and all at dirt cheap prices!!! Couple of yrs I was even able to fully provide Christmas for my little sisters 3 girls while she was going through some very hard times. Due to the grabbing items at lowest prices and throwing into my bins that I kept locks on I was able to do these things and they never put a stress on me to do so, as I too was a single mother of 3.

Good ideas. I used the library when my children were young. From toddler story time to using the encyclopedia back in the day, Every little thing helps.

I switched to Mint Mobile in 2021 and I love it. Ryan Reynolds even sent me a Holiday card last year.

I have a few tips for you. 1.I joined my local Buy Nothing group a couple years ago. I have received so many free “gifts” and been able to unload things I didn’t need or want. 2.To save gas on a trip to the library, I visit Little Free Libraries. There are lots that are much closer than the library, and no due dates. I can often combine a trip to pick up a gift through Buy Nothing with a visit to a Little Free Library. 3.We have Pay Back coupon books in our area, which are sold as school fundraisers every year. For a $20 investment I save $30 at one of my favorite grocery stores, as well as other stores and restaurants and more. Sometimes I can swap coupons I won’t use for the ones I want. Win-win! 🧡

I literally made my shopping list for my boys for Xmas and I agree. I asked my 5 yr old what he wanted and all he wanted was fidgets. Lol.

Think pre-1960 lifestyle: Use cleaning rags rather than paper towels. I use about 1 roll per year - it's only used to drain bacon (1 sheet is cut into 1/8s, or to clean up cat's upset stomach. Recycle soap: soap slivers are grated into a square plastic bowl. Stir in 1 tbsp vegetable oil. Just cover it with boiling water (if you get too much, that's ok will just take longer to dry). When set, cut into rectangles, turn onto 1 end (it drys faster) and let cure. The use of the oil eliminates the use and cost of body lotion. Dilute soap shavings to make shampoo: 1 Tbsp soap shavings to an empty shampoo bottle of water works great. Heat the water before filling the bottle helps dissolve the shavings. The soap will continue to absorb moisture so you may have to add water occassionally to keep the mixture from thickening. Buy a tube of shoe goop. Inexpensive shoes will have soles that will come off. Shoe goop can be used to glue soles back for another year. Eat out 1 night per week, and only 2 days for lunch due to scheduling. Cleaning products are limited to baking soda & vinegar, or bleach water. A spray bottle of water + 1/8 C bleach is fractions of pennies compared to purchased shower and toilet bowl cleaners and works just as well. Just make sure to label the bottle. Window cleaner is water, vinegar and dish soap. Oven cleaner is baking soda sprinkled over the stain, then sprayed with vinegar. Let set a couple of hours, then scrub. It make take more than 1 application. Wash and wax your car at home. And the list continues.

If you are not in the financial market space right now, you are making a huge mistake. I understand that it could be due to ignorance, but if you want to make your money work for you, prevent inflation from eroding your savings, build generational wealth, and cultivate good habits and financial knowledge, you must be in the market.

My friend's used to send me the funniest Christmas cards! I always would put them up on the walls as decor...really lifts the spirits! Since most people do not send cards much anymore, I also keep the prettier cards and plaster the door with them year after year. It reminds me of friends and family that I may be far from (in time as well as space! ♥️) and gives me a warm holiday feeling!

Saved a ton of money by repairing thing around the house myself. By using youtube I've learnt how to patch holes in drywall, best way to fill holes in baseboards and repaint. I even replaced window and patio door screens myself. Proud moments for sure!

Just to let everyone know next year Car insurance, is going up and everyone is going to get a price hike, so hubby and I are going to wait and put some money away. Our company said because of all the damage from Hurricane Ian, insurance companies are running out of money, or going broke.

For holiday meals buy 2 Costco chickens serve with sides. Cheap, easy,no stress done. Place on fancy tray surrounded by greens.

Great tips! I live by quite a few of them already but my most recent ones that iv started to live by now that I have a 2 week old son is to accept hand me down clothing from friends and family, we've split everything into size groups and put it into storage containers so that when he grows to that size we're ready to pull it out and I think at this rate his clothing for the 1st 12-18 months of his life are sorted! Also expressing for my sons feeds as he doesn't latch is saving alot of money as I don't need to purchase formula and it means I can still give him all the nutrients from my BM

Costco is like Target that way. They have cute stuff, stuff that looks good, stuff you think you need and $300 later you wonder what you bought.

SO many amazing ideas!!! We use many of them now (after many years of not), but I also learned about some that I never thought about! One thing I'll add about selling a more costly vehicle... contact the dealer about getting a refund on the warranty! We did this for our truck and trailer we sold this summer (to get a more fuel efficient used Honda! 😁) and got nearly $1000 back from the warranty companies!! My son and I shop at dollar tree and travel on foot to get to and from. We also shop at the commissary where we save by already paying less for items and no added tax on anything and we travel by city transit bus to and from. I pay half fare because of my age. :). When we get together in the kitchen, we cook enough to last us for a couple extra days for lunches and dinners for both of us. I very seldom find anything that is readymade plant based, so I make a lot of my own foods, including my own "ground meat". He still has his meals where he eats his meat and cheese. We are currently saving up to make a move from Virginia to Oklahoma. We are also looking for a moving company to help us get there because neither of us drives. We do have family in Oklahoma helping us find a place that is within our means. Thank you for all your ideas that are really helpful.

Working from home-yay! Cooking my own food-awesome! Thrift stores/consignment stores/dollar stores are the best! And using up all or most of what you have. And repair it vs buying a new one. Especially high heels or coats. Zippers and buttons are inexpensive. Shoe soles can be replaced. Extra tip... Don't use dry cleaners so much! Just refresh it! For my coats and jackets, unless I spilled something on it or there's mud... I take light or dark towels that just been washed, throw in my coats or jackets and a hand full of dryer sheets into the dryer. Medium temp... Never high! And my coats and jackets come out fresh and clean. Just don't try this with leather or animal pelts. Wool/cotton/polyester and such should be fine. Great video!🤩😍

When my husband & are traveling & go out to eat in the states or overseas, we always split one meal. We have never had any push back even at fancy restaurants. Also, we generally get water to drink. If my husband wants a beer, he purchases it in a grocery store for a couple of dollars & he drinks it in our room. This has saved a ton of money on our trips. ✈️❤️👍🏼

I decorated the outside of my house and then I took a picture of it and I am sending an electronically sent Christmas card that says "From my house to your house ..Merry Christmas!".. that way I don't worry about whether or not the card got to the intended recipient on time and the person getting a card for me doesn't have to feel obligated to send me a Christmas card

I told my family not to give me anything for Christmas. I'm not buying any gift this year. I have always been complimented by the gifts I give because they are thoughtful and practical but I don't want to do it this year. Not only money saved but time as well. I am even thinking about completely skipping holiday candies and anything Christmas secific (mugs, ect). I'm curious how different this will feel. I always feel greedy over the holidays and think this will be a new thing to try. For purses, I swear I used to hoard Vera Bradley. I decluttered them and now use more neural colors that fo with everything. I have 2 purses now. Decision fatigue was an issue with purses for sure. And yes about decluttering it really makes you think about what you spend money on and don't use. I continue to declutter and over time I notice I'm a lot more intentional about shopping. Also, decluttering and intentional shopping kind of streamlines your life.

This is a FANTASTIC video. I’m sure you’ll get a lot of responses and some feedback that doing x is actually more expensive than y because of blah blah blah, but this is all very good advice. Some of them are more short term based or long term savings, but all awesome tips condensed into a great video! Easily earned my like and sub today.

I definitely take advantage of selling clothes, shoes, and occasionally bags. There is a consignment shop in town for nicer things. But, if you’re patient (processing times are incredibly slow!), ThredUP is a great way to earn money on things that you might otherwise donate. I’m so guilty of falling for the “Target Trap”. I go in for a chapstick and some socks. But I leave with two shirts, makeup, a frozen pizza, a birthday card, and some holiday decor. 😂Oh, yeah. Totally forgot the chapstick.
