Fuel Pump Replaced the EASY WAY! Suzuki King Quad 300 WON'T RUN!

Today I had to replace the fuel pump on a Suzuki King Quad 300. These things aren't easy to work on so watch how I managed to do it without tearing apart the whole thing!

I have realized that 2 different pumps were used on these machines, thanks for the video, going thru a really clean '92 as we speak. I did take the plastic off and yes, a royal pain in the ass, but I replaces a brake line and general cleanup for repaint. Great Vid!!!

Have you ever had a problem with this four wheeler not charging the battery? I have the same one and every time I get on it, the battery is too weak and will barely turn the motor. A new battery helps for a while but does not fix the problem.

Ya I’ve put a voltage regulator on this one. Check to see how many volts the battery is at when it’s running. It should be 13-15 volts when running. Anything outside of that range and a voltage regulator is a pretty good place to start. Only bad part is it buried and you need to take off the front rack and front plastic because it’s infront of the steering column.

I honestly don’t remember. I would assume you’d have to crank it over for a hot second to let the fuel pump get the gas to the carb.

Like the hose protector? You can try looking on Partzilla and see if it’s still available thru Suzuki. I’m sure it’s not expensive

Hi im new to the king quads, ive got a 98 and the engine keeps filling up with gas about every few months or so. Would you be thinking carb or can it be getting by the fuel pump? Thanks

It could be either one I think. If the diaphragm is bad in the pump then gas could be getting into the vacuum side of the pump and filling the motor thru the pulse line.

You have to leave the gas petcock on ON that fuel won’t fill the carb. The ON position is mechanical and only works when the wheeler is running. If you leave it on PRI it will fill the carb and your engine.

You need a new fuel float needle in the carb.

Surely there is a way to eliminate the fuel pump altogether and set it up just as gravity feed system ?

I’m not sure. A gravity feed system is cheaper so I’d assume if it was possible then the factory would have done it from the start. If I remember correctly the bottom of the tank was about level with carb so you definitely wouldn’t have much drop and any downhill ride would put the carb above the tank. But I don’t have the quad here anymore to investigate.

@@ToyShop9665 Ty...I view that type of setup as a design flaw, because I am a fan of simplier, can be better....the suzuki engineers, should have designed this quad so that the gas tank sat several inchs higher or the carb/motor was positioned several inchs lower, so the ATV would not need a fuel pump/ extra fuel lines....which are just more things that can stop working/ cause problems.

No, most of the fuel in the tank sits below the carb. These fuel pumps work many years. Some 20-30 years without fail.

I drive mine around at the hospital just like that. The doctors hate it but the nurses think it's cool. 😎
