I have x-t3! And I watched this video third time! One year later this is still the best aps-c camera I suppose. Atleast for video. There is more to come via firmware upgrades I hope.

@@MaartenHeilbron yeah... just started to watch part 1. 😊 just to be informed. My cusin's husband has a7r I. He's a birdwatcher. And doctor. And businesman. And very funy and kind person. So, its nice to know about technical "things" to talk about... I suggested "point and shoot" lumix fz82 for cousine some time ago. They were happy, because lightweigt and great reach. I was enjoying my fz300 quite a long time. But x-t3 is another level. I wish I could afford lenses I need right now. But I work on (for 😄 ) that! Enough talking! Back to watching a7riv video!!! ☺

In the last few days I have seen so many X-T3 videos. Almost all of them by hip kids who are all show and no content, and not a single one had a good photo to show. And then your video came up and I watched the whole of it, even though I wasn't interested in the menu as of now. Excellent video, and beats every other one on youtube. Thank you !

WOW! What a fantastic review! I'm a longtime Canon user who was encouraged to switch to the X-T3 while browsing at my local camera shop yesterday. I've spent the past 24 hours doing a deep dive on the web to see if that employee was nuts or not, as I've never even considered using a Fuji camera. As a professional user moving over from Nikon to Fuji I need to learn my new cameras as quickly as possible. This video made me put away the user manual and just enjoy this in-depth walkthrough. I sold my Sony A7r3 and bought the XT3 . I don't know why, but Fujifilm makes me happy a lot more than Sony did. I love everything about it.

That's a tough call only for stills - Sony's focus remains the gold standard. For video, Fuji is substantially better (4x to be exact compared to Sony's 100Mbits).

Same. I ended up going x-t3 because of price. Its a little bit of a gamble since im hoping fuji will release ibis in the future x-t line. And fuji batteries are big enough for me

BTW, Im almost switching from my xt2 to... should I wait for the xt4? Birding, landscape and macro, and wow macro has been a breeze with the xt2 paired with the 80mm... As usual a great, great vid, the best of all for fuji cameras!

@@MaartenHeilbron Hi again Martin, I saw the next one will come with Ibis and most of all a bigger battery, as a most of all birder photographer, I want to be able to handheld the 100-400 lens, believe me I am tired of going into the field with my big canon 5ds r, tripod, tamron lens 150-600, a small chair to wait for proper scenes, and my small hide cape. (cammo cape ) All sooo heavy.... I don't know which will be the mpixels the next one will have, but if it 26 as the xt3, it's fine with me. Though I must confess that the 50mpx Canon works great for birds, which are far away, as you can cut the photo and it will always look good :) Thank you so much for your answer Martin! as usual the most lovely english man! Best for you and the family from distant Uruguay. PS by the way, you are one of the few people who dedicate time to answer to each of us!

As a new Fuji user, I thought my touch screen of my X-T3 was broken. I never imagined they'd turn it off by default, and would hide the on switch so far in the menu. Thanks Maarten, you saved me!

@@MaartenHeilbron Not kind-accurate! We live in a world where everyone feels they have the 'right' to complain, but rare is the person who wants to put their fingers on the other side of the scale. I make videos professionally in my own area, Maarten, and your videos in your area are truly excellent. The amount of information you manage to effortlessly pack in to these videos is astonishing. And I think that only another video maker will appreciate the care and effort you've made to (just for one example) balance the audio track between inside and outside, and different days. None of this happens by itself!

Maarten, you are a beacon of light in these treacherous dark seas of the world of photography... Ok, maybe it's not that dark of a world (after all, it's the art of light). But well, you know what I mean. Thanks a ton for these super exhaustive (and exhausting, at least for you, I guess) introduction-tutorials videos for all the Fuji cameras that came out these past few years. Excellent review and practically a tutorial on any camera you test in a third of the time that other youtube reviewers spend to do so! (It comes with a price though: One must playback around points of interest quite a lot of times, especially if he is not a native english speaker, like me.)Just subscribed!

Got the XT3. What an upgrade from a 6300!. Wonderful colours straight out of the camera. The first camera that makes me say bye bye to my MAGIC LANTERN Canon 70D and a6300. Thanks for your reply.

Thanks for your very detailed review Maarten. I have bookmarked it so I can watch it again. Alas, the camera has many features that I need to become more familiar with, particularly in the stills area, but your video will be a great guide. I have had the X-T3 for just one week, but my impression is that the overall functionality and quality (especially for stills) are clearly a step up from my GH5.

I've been falling into a rabbit hole of watching your videos. Originally stopped by to watch your Z50 review as I'm looking to finally upgrade my D3100 after 10 years... Have since subscribed to your channel and am now leaning more towards a used X-T3 as I can get one with accessories for less money than the Z50 and a wider selection of lenses i can put some of the leftover spare change towards. I'm sure I'll eventually come to a decision after falling deeper into the rabbit hole and watching more videos 😅

Good video. I am (as a KZfaqr myself) especially interested in the video capabilities of the X-T3. One particular advantage is that , now the X-T4 has been released , there are increasing numbers of high-quality barely used second-hand X-T3's appearing on-the-market here in the UK. The brand-new price of the X-T3 is still beyond my budget (let alone the X-T4). But a good quality used X-T3 is a great camera at an affordable price. Stay safe and well Maarten.

An excellent plan. I'm just finishing my review of the X-T4, and while it has a few advantages, the X-T3 is very close and has little competition.

@@DennisBloodnokPhotographyVideo If you own an X-T3, there are very few issues that would convince me to upgrade. On the other hand, if you're buying a new camera, take the X-T4. Yes, stabilization has improved, but it's primarily for video shooters.

The one thing I really wish Fuji would include is an option to set a Fn button to switch between 4k and 1080p video. For nature videographers such as myself, it's a convenient way to squeeze out some additional magnification.

You lost me there ... the field of view is the same if you're shooting 4K or HD. There are some full frame cameras that provide a 1.5 crop/zoom factor when shooting in APS-C mode, but not here.

@@MaartenHeilbron When shooting subjects at a distance, if you're happy with 1080p (as I am), you can max your zoom and switch to 4K, then in post you can blow up the video a bit and still get a good quality image. It's basically a hack to get better digital zoom.

Watching your video, it appears that the X-T3 is well deserving of the many "camera of the year" rewards it has achieved. However, in order to take advantage of the many features, there is a very steep learning curve.

Yes, it is very deserving - although much of the advances are in the video capabilities. I'm not sure there's a steep learning curve, for the most part you can continue to do what you've always done. The X-T3 does offer more potential and these are mostly tools to add to your understanding rather than capabilities you have to master.

It’s been said below but this is one of the most comprehensive, and actually relevant, X-T3 reviews out there. I rarely watch review videos this long, but every minute was worth it for someone like me considering whether to drop the extra few hundred on the T3 or a cheaper T2 as much first foray into Fuji. Thanks for the precise information about this beautiful and mighty camera. I just purchase one with the kit lens. The price of lenses are much lower than Sony’s full frame and aps-s as well. So that was the reason to go with fuji except all the mentioned points in this marvelous video. Thanks and greetings from Croatia.

I am looking forward to the release of the X-H2. I am hoping that this will have a combination of the Image Stabilisation of the X-H1 with the features of the X-T3.

We can all project our desires onto hoped for next versions of today's cameras - however, in my experience, the manufacturers don't often deliver on our expectations. And I'm not the biggest fan of in-camera stabilization. For stills, I'd rather have a tripod or a faster lens, for video a gimbal (or again, a tripod). The in-camera substitute doesn't always deliver and often creates unwanted artifacts.

@@MaartenHeilbron - You have a point regarding image stabilisation. I tripod is the best answer. But I recently did some moving video footage. I was holding two cameras (one with image stabilisation and one without) as I walked through a beautiful park area. The video footage on the stabilised camera looked much better.

If the Fuji had a fully articulating screen It would be great. I’m never buying another Sony. Too many problems and terrible warranty process. Refusing to fix a brand new lens that won’t focus. The xt3 is on the list, but so is the gh5. Tough choice 🤔
