Excellent vid, well done. Like you, I also bought the x100v for street photography. It's also an ideal camera for sightseeing when one doesn't fancy hauling camera kit around (I have a Canon RP and associated gear) The flip-up screen is a bonus for covert shooting-from-the-hip image capturing and of course the Jpegs are gorgeous. Incidentally, NiSi make an excellent single-piece lens hood cum weather sealer which also takes the original Fuji lens cap Keep up the good work!

Hey thank you so much. I’m honestly loving the x100v so much, I can see why it’s such a popular choice amongst street photographers. I’m looking to experiment more with the JPEG’s and film simulations, do you have a favourite simulation you like to use? 😊 thank you I’ll look into Nisi! I got a free Fuji weather sealing kit with my purchase which was such a bonus, but have been struggling to find a suitable lens hood, I’ve ordered the Haoge square hood and am expecting it through the door any minute now! I’ll have to report back if it’s any good. Thanks again

Hey Deryn! He’s a tip: Fujis have a mode called dr400 that shoots at iso 640 or higher. This mode underexposes the image at capture, then boost the mid tones and blacks before saving. This has the effect of retaining hilight detail while making the image appear normal. Cost: some noise in the blacks. This affects BOTH raw and jpgs! If you find a lot of blown out hilights in your shots, try it out! Also, if you do lightroom raws, convert your fuji RAF files to adobe dng using a program called Iridient X transform. Turn all adobe sharpness off at the conversion. Then import to lightroom as dngs. Use the free fuji x raw studio to compare your RAF files to the lightroom raw to match better to the orig fuji conversion.

Btw, the flash on that camera is magical! Coupled with the leaf shutter and the built in ND, thats alot of toys to play with: Use the ND filter to shoot wide aperture in the sun... most usefull in video where you want to keep your shutter at ~1/50th. The leaf shutter alllows higher flash sync speeds than your canon! So gorgeous out door flash filled photographs with wide apertures are possible! Also gel the flash to match your ambient color temperature for more natural pix!

Having spent many years as a photojournalist I have to ask: what is the purpose of what you just did? What story did you want to convey? What emotion did you want your images to bring to the surface? To me they are meaningless. They're just snapshots that can be done by any tourist in any city. It reminds me of visiting peoples homes and because I'm a pro photographer they ask me to look at their vacation photos--I do to be polite but they are boring. For the first time in a long time Covid has pretty much sidelined my photography, and given me lots of free time, so I have been browsing through You Tube and am really disappointed by the work of the vast majority of people on here calling themselves photographers--particularly "street photographers." I've yet to see more than an image or two that meant anything, that was meaningful. It's fine to be a snap shooter, but a photographer makes an image an amateur simply takes a picture. My purpose is not to denigrate you, but rather to, hopefully make you think about what you're shooting and whether or not it has merit as a moment in time. Unfortunately digital photography has enabled anyone with a digital camera to take numerous photos that mean nothing--there is no thought behind the image, it's just a snap shot. Street photography is about so much more than finding a spot of sunshine and waiting for someone to walk by so they cast a shadow on the side of a building. Look at Gordon Parks' work, (as one example) if you want to see some credible street photography.

Someone’s stroking their ego a little much. To me it sounds like you’re angry that covid sidelined your photography and taking it out on someone else is making the most of the situation. It’s not my purpose to denigrate you, but rather to, hopefully make you a better person because you my guy, are shitty. I should know, I’m a pro photographer. 😘
@deryncorbett
@deryncorbett 3 жыл бұрын
Hey man; I actually think your purpose IS to denigrate me. I’m not claiming to be a photo journalist, I just enjoy watching people make these kind of videos and therefore also enjoy making them. I think anyone going out there and capturing images is a positive thing not to be sneered at. I’m not ‘claiming’ to be a photographer either, I am one - even if not by your definition clearly. I’m just making the most out of a bad situation, after losing photography opportunities due to covid like yourself, but still getting out there capture. I really dislike when other photographers look down on others who are just trying to perfect their own style and craft. I’m not claiming that any of these images are fantastic and telling a story, I’m just pushing through and taking photos but also sharing the process. Have a nice day anyway, I’m not begging you to stay here to look at my ‘’meaningless” photography. Sorry to hear Covid has also sidelined your work.
