You could save a lot of time threading by using the thread dial instead of leaving the half nut engaged. That is necessary for metric threads, but not imperial.

Always the master craftsman in his natural environment. Few artisans practice their art with focus and dedication. Pleasure to be along for the ride.

Thank you so much for watching and subscribing! I truly appreciate it more than you know. There has been a handful of logistical and some family health issues that have held me back from posting the type of quality video that I want to maintain on my channel. Stay tuned!!

Wow. Fantastic video. For someone who's done some diy gun smiting, and is potentially interested in exploring it as a business opportunity, would you recommend going the school route or trying to find an apprenticeship?
@trentgriswold
@trentgriswold Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much. That's a great question. To sum it up I would say, if you're going to specialize in a certain field or choose a specialty, then I would probably go the apprenticeship route. If you are going to pursue general gunsmithing I would certainly recommend getting a formal education. The skills I've acquired during my years in gunsmithing school have proved invaluable from welding, machining, woodworking, metallurgy, to just a great general knowledge of mechanics and engineering. All of which you will need to employ if you go the general route. Think in terms of an ER doctor, very broad with a vast scope of skills requires vs a doctor that specializes in a dedicated field such as knees surgeries.

Did you lap the bolt lugs before measuring from the receiver ring to the bolt?
@trentgriswold

I always check engagement to see if lapping is necessary. If engagement was not consistent across all three lugs, then yes, I would certainly lap before proceeding with my measurements.
